About the property

Ida's Cottage has that vintage style, but all the upgrades of a new home.

Ida’s Cottage is near the center of it all. We are near the Britt Gardens music venue and the hiking trails. Attend the concert of your choice with no worry of parking, you have off street parking at the cottage. Jacksonville has many fine restaurants to choose from, pleasing to any apatite. We have unique shops with something for everyone, wine tasting to enjoy our local wines, not a wine drinker, visit the Schoolhaus Brewhaus for great beer, sausage, sauerkraut and other German cuisine. Hop on the Trolley to see the historic sites you otherwise might miss. Have a great breakfast at the Mustard Seed. The list goes on. All blocks from your stay.

The cottage features all the comforts of home. It has a great kitchen fully equipped with dishes, cook ware, and utensils at your disposal. Linens are provided including towels and sheets. Downstairs bedroom has two twin beds, a closet and dresser. There is a bathroom downstairs including tub/shower and stackable washer/dryer. The master bedroom and bath are upstairs. Queen size bed, sitting room, closet and large windows for a bit of a view of Jacksonville. The master bath has shower only. Plenty of sitting room in the living area, Wi-Fi and cable available for your convenience. The front porch everyone loves. Enjoy the outdoors under the shade of a huge mimosa tree.

There is off street parking and a private patio area with BBQ grill. You can dine alfresco in the summer months or just enjoy the quiet location of Ida’s Cottage.

Beautiful house, excellent location

  • 5 of 5

Ida's Cottage is located two blocks off of California Street and is easily within walking distance to anyplace of significance in Jacksonville (restaurants, Britt Gardens, grocery store, hiking trails, etc). It is also far enough off of both Oregon, California, and 5th Streets to be fairly quiet. The porch is shady, comfortable, and quiet and it is very private. The French doors open from the living room on to the porch, and there is a small side of the house area with a table and BBQ. The house is beautiful and comfortable, and the front yard is very nice as well. The kitchen is well set up and stocked for cooking, the two bathrooms are nice and work well, and especially the master bedroom upstairs is really excellent-- Spacious and with a huge walk in closet. The entire house, actually, has lots of storage for unpacking. Nice wood floors, wood counters, the windows all open and work well, as do all the cupboards and drawers. The only really downsides were: Very, very, very poor internet (expect none); the downstair's bedroom, with two single beds, is as small as the master bedroom is large; some of the furnishings and furniture are "dated", and the lighting is not great. The back of the house is dark, oddly, because there are no windows to speak of, in the back of the house and the "back yard" really belongs to the neighbors (I don't think this an issue, though). I would recommend this house for a couple with kids that are okay sharing a room, or even better, for a couple.

We've stayed here a few times before and it's like coming back to a 2nd home. Very comfortable. Perfect Jacksonville location.

Thanksgiving at Ida's Vacation Cottage

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving with family who live in Central Point. By staying in Jacksonville we are able to be close and have our Oregon family over for Thanksgiving lunch. The kitchen is adequate to prepare a nice meal and the house is comfortable.

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Ida's and enjoyed being able to walk to anywhere in Jacksonville. The property does need some cleaning as it is very dusty and the wi-fi was really not available. The mattress covers also need cleaning. Bring your own soap and shampoo. The kitchen was very usable and had a good selection of pots and pans and plates.
