Could have been cleaner

  • 3 of 5

The property in a great location away from the tourist areas and resorts so you really get a feel of the culture. When we arrived at the property, I called management to complain about the cleanliness. One a scale from 1 to 5, it was also a 3. They sent a cleaning lady over right away. Here are some areas that could be improved:

• Hardly any basic amenities are provided like dish soap, paper towels, garbage bags, etc. They have a checklist at the house where these things were listed as being included, but they were not.

• There is a washing machine, but no dryer (just as it's listed). They did not have a clothes line so we had to buy one. They only have one key to the laundry room to be shared by all 5 units. Luckily, the people renting the unit next to ours had it the entire week so we were able to borrow it. The only way to get to the laundry room was from our ‘private’ deck so ‘private’ is debatable. This is the closed door that you can see in the pictures of the pool.)

• They didn’t have anything for the pool like floaties or a raft so we ended up buying one.

• The lawn chairs provided are not foldable so you can’t transport them to take them to a different beach. We had to rent them. Likewise, they did not have a cooler so we bought one. This doesn’t sound like much, but other properties provide stuff.

• It didn’t look like the large windows that look out to the ocean had been cleaned in ages. You would have thought they would have been cleaned before tenants arrived.

• The floors were not cleaned well (build up in corners and grout needs cleaned badly).

• The house alarm was too sensitive and kept going off. They threaten that you will pay a fee if security shows up so we left the alarm off after being called on 3 separate occurrences.

• There are rust stains running down the walls under the air conditioning units. They could clean or paint over these to make the rooms look nicer.

• They rugs they have in the bathroom and just inside the sliding doors were hand towels.

Overall, the property was okay and we enjoyed our trip to Aruba.

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

There were 4 of us, one couple and 2 on our own and we stayed here over the course of Christmas in 2012. Safe neighborhood. VERY quiet and literally the beach is RIGHT outside of the the patio. We also had the small studio rental giving us 3 bedrooms since the studio has access to the private pool, too. Looking at the pictures, did the property change ownership? Is the studio still available for rent ALONG with the 2 bedroom? I wouldn't do it any other way if you are traveling with 4 people. You'll need a rental car to explore the island and to get into O town. Fortunately, 3 of the best restaurants in all of Aruba (in my opinion) are right in the neighborhood! Old man and the Sea, The Flying Fish bone (fine dining beach side) and Zeerover (fresh catch of the day and a beer.) You'll still need a car to get to Old man and the sea and Flying Fish bone. You can't miss out on EITHER restaurant. They are a MUST. I felt that Saveneta was EXACTLY the Aruban experience we wanted. We drove to the Hotel zone along Palm beach...and no offense: but If I wanted to go to Miami, I could save myself a thousand dollars and just go to Miami! I didn't see the appeal or the draw. COMPLETELY Americanized and nothing special. that Florida doesn't have. Saveneta was exactly the right spot for decompression and beach side meditation. absolutely no neighboring buildings on either side of the property, so it felt like a private beach. I live in Arizona, so the landscape was weirdly familiar to me, it felt like Tucson/Nogales on the Caribbean. It was a trippy hybrid, but an amazing vacation nonetheless.

Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and another couple stayed for one week in mid September, 2011. The best vacation we have ever been on! Take about four steps off the back porch and you are in the beautiful carribean! The unit was very nice and extremely private. Away from the hustle and bussle of downtown and the high rise district but a short drive to it all. Everything you need. Recommend snorkling at Baby Beach, just about 10 minutes west of the chalet. Want to now move to Aruba, but since that can't happen, plan on staying in this chalet every year from now on!!

Superior unit is truly superior

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Aruba Beach Chalets in June of 2011 was fantastic. Our expectations were high, and the superior unit, with its private pool, met our expectations - and then some! The unit was very clean and the pool was fantastic. Richard was right there in Unit #3 to answer all our questions. The twice-a-week maid did a great job, as did the pool cleaner. The washing machine was perfect to help minimize the amount of clothes to pack.

We also enjoyed snorkeling and diving straight off the beach - just be sure to follow the west channel marker and turn right/west and follow the reef. The fish were fantastic - even on the land side of the reef. The shaded area over the pool and on the deck were great, but the beach chairs on the sand made for great sunning. We enjoyed chasing the crabs and iguanas, and all the kitchen appliances made for a great stay.

The location is fantastic - on a quiet road, but there are several local restaurants meeting the need to dine out - be sure to catch ZeeRover (right down the street) at lunch for the fresh fish & shrimp and dinner at Marina Pirata. The short drive west to Mango Halto made for some great diving, and the drive east to Baby Beach rewarded us with excellent snorkeling and photo ops for everything from angelfish to squid.

Nights in the living room were excellent - the cable TV worked great and the coffee table made for excellent board and card games. And midnight swims in the private pool were the perfect end to a perfect day - just watch for the scampering crabs!

We stayed here for a month and can't wait to go back next year. It's in a quiet area away from the hotels and right on the water. There was enough room to have guests stay with up comfortably. We stayed in the Superior unit which had the beautiful pool on the deck. There is great snorkeling nearby at Mangel Halto and Baby Beach. It is near Flying Fishbone, Old Man and the Sea and Zeerovers where you can get fresh fish to cook on your own if you want. We can't say enough about the homey, welcoming feeling we had while staying here.
