This area is beautiful and the feeling that you have the whole planet to yourself is right out the door. You can watch the sun and moon rise and set. Are you into astronomy? This is the place for you!!! Do you need to retreat and recharge? This is the place for you! Are you an artist looking for a great lighting experience? If you like to paint or photograph, this is the place!
This is the place for you!
The best part about this place are the views! Watching the sunrise, moonrise, and sunsets are fantastic. A common statement from our guest's is, ''your photos don't do our house/property justice."
The wildlife here is equally as grand. On any given day you may see elk, antelope, eagles, blue herons, hawk, coyotes, and fox.
Because it adjoins forest service land you can cross country ski, snowmobile, hike right off the property.
If you have a portable stall, you may bring your horse!
LOVE this place!! You will never want to leave. It's the perfect place to stay if you want to explore Arizona because you are literally in between all the action. Louisa goes above and beyond for all the guests. She is the perfect host! The place is spacious with beautiful decor. The views are beautiful-especially at night. I's super cozy and comfortable and the perfect getaway, anniversary, or any special occasion. We'll definitely be back in the near future.
We have stayed at this beautiful house two years in a row . It's a great location to go to Flagstaff and Williams . The house is very beautiful and always very clean . The owner is very easy to work with and responds right away . We went on the polar express and Bearazonia on the first day. The second day we went to the Grand Canyon !! We can't wait until next year to go again !!
We came up to the Flagstaff/Williams area to attend The Polar Express, and found East of the Sun, West of the Moon. It was a wonderful house! It's so open and warm, and was the perfect spot for our family to spend the weekend away. The cast iron stove is beautiful, and kept the house toasty warm! Each bed had heated blankets and down comforters for the cool nights. We hope to return often!
Our stay was amazing! We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were immediately overwhelmed with the serenity and peacefulness of the area. Our cabin was beautiful and spacious. Very clean and well stocked with just about everything you could need from cooking utensils to toiletries. The stove was gorgeous and provided adequate heating and set the mood perfectly for an evening with wine and a movie.
Louisa was a great and attentive host. She was not intrusive at all and still managed to stay apprised of all our needs. We will definitely be back and we will bring the rest of our family with us.
We had an absolutely lovely stay at East of the Sun, West of the Moon. We were celebrating my wife's 50th birthday and my parents 50th anniversary. Louisa even had a bottle of champagne for us to celebrate! And a sweet card too! The home was so beautiful and inviting, lots of light and that wood stove heats the whole place! The master bedroom is a bit cooler but Louisa has thought of everything and there's a space heater (which we didn't need to use) and a heated mattress pad. It was so lovely to get into a warm bed each night. We all slept incredibly well there. The mornings there are enchanting with the sunrise and a gorgeous view of Humphrey's Peak. We would take our time each morning to take in our beautiful surroundings. The nights were just as spectacular and we were treated to a small meteor shower one night. The kitchen and dining areas were fully stocked with everything you need from spices to cookware to utensils. This is definitely a place to kick back and relax. I really enjoyed making the fire each day and it was really easy to do, and if you haven't had experience with a wood stove before the directions Louisa provides are great.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to be back soon! Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality, Louisa!!
This is a lovely property, wonderfully stocked kitchen, and great location. It doesn't get any better. Far enough away to feel private and peaceful yet close enough to Williams and Flagstaff if you need or want anything. The wood stove is incredible. Terrific views. Had a terrific stay. Day trips to Grand Canyon and Sedona very easy to do. Thanks Louisa for your wonderful hospitality.
We stayed at East of the Sun for Labor Day weekend to escape the Phoenix heat, and it was just what we needed! The setting is beautiful and the house is light, bright and open with plenty of space to move around in the living areas. Everything is very clean and well-stocked, and Louisa made sure to check in with us upon arrival to give us some local tips. We especially enjoyed walking through the prairie on the trail she told us about - so beautiful!
She does have a lot of house rules, the biggest being to restrict water usage. But ultimately it didn't end up being as big a deal as we thought it might. We brought in lots of our own water for drinking and just took really short showers and didn't ever leave water running to wash dishes or brush teeth.
The one thing that was just a little disappointing for us is that the second bedroom is teeny tiny and stuffy while the master is enormous and beautiful with vaulted ceilings and french doors opening to a private patio. When traveling with two couples who are sharing the cost evenly, we clearly had very different accommodations.
