Highest reviewed out of over 2000 options in the roaring fork valley because I work hard to make it a DANG THOUGHTFUL place to stay :)
No single family is the same; our bedrooms are highly customizable to fit yours just right.
Three Kings & a Queen plus Abundant Twins — the rooms are unusually adaptable.
The primary suite is home to a single well appointed King. Or, we can add a twin or two to that King and you’ll still have room to spare, or … twins for up to 4.
Two guest en-suites can each accommodate a King, a King + Twin, or 3 Twins each.
The Bunk Room is most comfortable with two folks — a queen bed below for couple or a single below and single twin up above. A dedicated half-bath is just steps away.
Up above the common area is a classic ski-home sleeping loft. There is always one twin ready to go, but give the word and a second will be provided. A dedicated half bath is down a half flight of stairs.
Sound complicated? I’d be delighted to help you come up with the best sleeping arraignments that take into account mobility issues, family dynamics, and the ever particular needs of your guests.
This unique home with a Killer View flexes its sleepyhead to fit yours.
Not slope side, but a much better value, nearly as convenient .... and have you ever sat on a deck in the afternoon sunshine with just a t-shirt even though it's only 19F outside? One of only 21 homes in all of Snowmass with a DIRECT southern exposure, the winter sun will convert you to a true believer!
The included parking passes (2 per day) gets you to within 50 feet of the snow after a 6-10 minute drive, or take the shuttle after short five minute walk — my 72 year old dad does it regularly; my 2 year old niece does not! (yet).
Compared to a cramped condo, there is plenty of space and well built walls for everyone to spread out when you need some me time, yet our large dining and living room accommodates the whole bunch with a fire, a movie, or one of our ample board games and puzzles (over 30!).
Our multigenerational family has lived and/or vacationed here for over five decades and we've taken notice on how to optimize our home for a relaxing **vacation** for ourselves and importantly, our guests.
There will surely be things broken. It is a home. On a literal mountain. Let me know what needs attention and while it might not be fixed before you head home, future families will appreciate it. Thank you.
Have you asked other rentals about humidifiers? We have robust, but VERY QUITE, evaporative humidifiers in every room — without a solid supply of moisture overnight, you’ll feel a bit off in the morning even if you are a tee-totaler.
We've honed in on the details like massive pasta pots, extra breakfast griddles, multiple knife sets, an ultra-powerful water boiler element, slow-cookers, and by special request .... every single type of coffee maker in existence. You coffee folks are picky!
Your extended family and friends will be able to make memories and a hearty meal to keep well nourished as you explore the wilderness and the world-class resort (really, don't eat every meal in, there is a wonderful Ruby Red Hazelnut Encrusted Trout waiting for you at the Artisan in the Stonebridge — free shuttle with reservation.)
I don't like a cold shower, and for the last 10 years, I haven't had a single guest tell me they've had one either (if you manage — do let me know!!). We've upgraded the water heaters so that everyone get's a good hot rinse!
Safety is important and there is nothing worse than a smoke or CO detector out at midnight during one of your precious vacation days. We've gone beyond code and added a 10-year lithium battery CO/Smoke detector to every room so that you can sleep thru the night without worry or battery chirps.
Our hot tub is a lovely soak with it's own great view after a day hiking or skiing.
Sound travels great distances from a mountain top.
— Yodelers not welcome! —
($59 credit if you include 'yodelers not welcome' in a message to me. Thanks for reading!)
Take in the hot tub and take in the Milky Way view, but keep it quite so that the folks a mile down the hill without the view won't get too jealous of you up there with your friends and family.
Our home, like all of Snowmass Village, is just on the edge of the wilderness — speak softly so you don't wake the bears or startle the elk. Relax, rest, and bring the full force of your restored energy into the mountains the next day!
As with many other homes and all condominiums, our hot tub closes down for the night at 9PM to ensure everyone else who lives nearby, or is on a vacation like yourself, gets the sound sleep they need for the mountains tomorrow.
Early risers get the best snow and the emptiest trails! (I'm working on this myself — not judging!)
=== Affordable
You don't have to pay Aspen Extreme prices to spend a week in Aspen-Snowmass.
Sure, you could rent one of the other homes on our street for almost twice as much — but you've lucked out and stumbled upon our killer big mountain view, so save those bucks for a new pair of ski boots — we highly recommend Jack Rafferty — and spend a minute reading our affordable tale.
A Snowmass Pioneer, my grandfather paid cash for a small plot of land at the end of a jeep road back in 1968 and built himself a cabin overlooking the future town of Snowmass Village. In the 1980s, concerned that those working in the valley were no longer able to afford to live in the valley, he dedicated the entirety of his retirement to organizing what is now the crown jewel of the Aspen/Snowmass community: the Affordable Employee Housing Program.
In 2005, with the roof leaking, the single-pane windows drafty, and the property taxes mounting on our grandfather's lucky strike, we sold the homestead and set our sights on a seldom-used, modern, comfortable home with a remarkable view just one ridge west.
In 2010, after five years of my family allowing a property management company to hawk our home (and somehow still owing them money at the end of the month), I decided to move out to the mountains and try my hand at it myself.
It turns out that cutting cutting out the commission, upgrading the amenities, and flashing a friendly smile works wonders.
Four years ago we dug out the grass turf and revegetated with native plants, doing our part to keep the valley as it was in 1968 when my grandfather took a jeep ride in search of paradise and our long-term goal is a solar powered home as we do our part to keep the snow around.
I hope you are able to make it out this winter. Think snow, and I'll see you on the slopes!
