This lovely 3100 square feet pre-war apartment designed by renowned architect Henry Klutho has been completely renovated and furnished for your Jacksonville get-a-way. The apartment is on the 1st floor of the historic Napier building built in 1924. The entire unit has been renovated from floor to ceiling but still preserving the ambiance of the original architecture. The living room is over 600sf with a separate dining room. There is a New Orleans style porch overlooking Riverside Avenue with glimpses of the St. Johns river. The kitchen is appointed with stainless steel appliances including gas stove and large refrigerator. Two guest rooms share a bathroom.
The Napier building is conveniently located within walking distance, 2 blocks, of Publix supermarket and the 5 points shopping area. Many restaurants are near, also.
I was just going through all my old travel stuff and came across some info for our trip we spent at your place last Dec. I really wanted you to know how great a time we all had at your place and how homey it felt to all of us. It was a perfect set-up for the family group that went that trip and the apartment had everything we needed. If we ever spend another holiday or any vacation in Jacksonville again you can be sure we will contact you for another stay.
Napier downstairs was exactly as described and did not disappoint. The Riverside location is perfect for walking to many area businesses for meals, etc. Just a short walk to Hawkers Asian Street Fare which was good food and fun. A short drive to Il Desco for a fantastic meal. Convenient to Memorial Park across the street and Riverside park a few blocks away. Very close to I-95 on ramps. Also a few blocks from the museum and the hospital.
Bob and Chad were both welcoming and helpful. They were available for questions if needed.
The apartment is fantastic and comfortable. The spaciousness allowed for privacy. The kitchen had a lot of staples and the only thing I missed was having salt and pepper.
The beds and pillows were very comfortable and there was a nice supply of towels.
A must for anyone who enjoys historic buildings. This is where I will return to on my next trip to JAX. Thanks for a great stay.
We came to Jacksonville for a wedding. The location is close to the river and we only had to walk 1 block to see the great New Year fireworks. Lots of places to walk to eat and Public's 0.2 miles away. I would highly recommend this property. It is a large roomy place. We hosted New Year lunch for 14 with plenty of room. I would stay there again.
Access to the apartment was exceptionally easy. Building was beautiful, and apartment was as expected. For such a beautiful place, I was somewhat taken aback at much of the furniture - about half of it was pretty old and looked dirty because of that (although nothing smelled bad or anything like that - it just looked a little soiled). Still - the apartment was very comfortable, due alot I think to to the size. Very large, and plenty of room with 4 bedrooms. The jack and jill bathroom looked as if it hadn't changed since the place was built - and was absolutely beautiful. The master bath had been redone, and although I would have chosen double sinks for a master suite that large, the shower was a nice, modern touch.
The only thing I would have definitely changed was blinds or curtains in the front room. When the people staying in the apartment above came or went, they walked right by a window into our living room/den, that was perfectly eye-level. They obviously knew that, and worked to turn aside when passing that window, but it most certainly should have had a blind on it, at least. I'd have felt better with blinds all the way around the living room and kitchen. The rest of the house had privacy (well, the dining room didn't, but the balcony was located against the dining room windows, and looked nice without window covering). The owners lived right next door, and if we'd had any problems, I'm sure they would have accommodated us in a very timely fashion. They were very personable.
All in all it was a great place to stay, and I would stay there again...you just can't beat the location, and the building itself is a source of pride for all who have owned it, I'm sure.
This home is perfect for family vacations. We were able to celebrate Thanksgiving in this beautiful home and felt so at home and pampered at the same time. A true gem of Jacksonville. We enjoyed walking to Riverside restaurants, parks, the Cummer art museum, and the riverwalk. Plus the backyard has a peaceful patio, perfect for the tea party we gave our 3 yr old niece :)
Overall it was a nice propoerty although I think it could have been cleaner.
This historic apartment was in a nice location within walking distance to Stabucks, and a grocery store. Lots of space and well maintained rooms. The owner helped coordinate the drop off and pick up of our children's rental items. Few and small toiletries, so bring your own but did have plenty of towels and dishes.
