Condo, Studio + Futon + King-sized bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)
My name is Alan Rudow. I am the owner of this amazing condo. I live in Ontario Canada. Because I am so far away, Deborah Kirk, who is a friend and real estate agent, manages the condo for me. This is her picture. She is a long time resident of Hawaii, she sells Real Estate as well as manages property & specializes in custom renovations for small spaces.
Owner purchased this Condo in 2011
Why Owner chose Diamond Head - Kapahulu - St. Louis
This studio condo is in the ideal location for anyone wanting to stay in a quiet location on the ocean, just a short walk to the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The Bus stops in front of the Elks Club next door. You can make connections to all parts of Oahu using The Bus. Before you leave for Hawaii, do some research on to see how easy it is to travel from the condo to your favorite Mall or activity on Oahu. Use the address of the condo, 2947 Kalakaua Ave, in each search.
What makes this Condo unique
This condo does not offer a million dollar view, it is a TEN million dollar view! It will take your breath away! Service dogs are certainly welcome!

Not clean bugs in the bed and roachs and traps on floor and shelf’s
In Hawaii, which is located in the sub-tropics, it is normal and necessary to place traps and bait products under sinks and along baseboards to PREVENT having problems with bugs. We have proudly owned our Little Piece of Paradise for 8 1/2 years during which time we have hosted over 30 guests each year. Included in that number are our own family and friends. We have never heard of any sightings of bugs until now. After hearing about these concerns we immediately did a thorough inspection. No bugs of any kind were found. However, appropriate protective measures were implemented. Also, as we did a mini renovation of the bathroom, and some upgrades to the kitchen area, in April 2019, we feel this awesome and very comfortable space is in the best shape of the years we have owned it. Aloha!
Loved the location.
Interior needs overhaul.
For out of state visitors on budget it’s probably ok. Nice location.
Personally i did not sleep there .... i went home instead. Very old and tired interior. Air conditioner did not work well and was very noisy. Bed wasn’t a good match for my back. Carpet very old. No lanai!! I was shocked. I assumed there would be a lanai.
I only spent maybe 5 hours there in 4 days. For me it was a totally waste of money.
I am seriously wondering if my guest had the keys for the wrong apartment! Five days before his arrival date we had just completed a very minor reno and cosmetic upgrade of the bathroom and kitchen areas. We installed new LED lighting in both areas, four maple shelves, towel rack and medicine cabinet that were custom made for the space, painted the whole bathroom and kitchen area ceiling and laid a new rug in the living space. I have owned this apartment since January 2011 and it has never looked better! I am very proud of the improvements that we have just completed. As far as the bed goes, our family, friends and many of the 33 guests who enjoy our Little Piece of Paradise each year go out of their way to tell us how comfortable the king-sized bed is! I am truly sorry that this comfy cozy bed was not a "match'' for this guest. I do appreciate the fact that this guest tells us twice that this condo is located in a "nice location". It sounds like he didn't make his way down to the amazing lanai and grassy lounge on the sea wall where he could have enjoyed a good book, meals and watched the sun set in the comfort of a lounge chair.
Million $$$ Views of Diamond Head, Pacific Ocean and Waikiki
The owner was involved in planning our first trip to Paradise from when we headed to the airport to go home. Without Alan's suggestions we wouldn't have known how easy it was to use The Bus, the municipal bus service, to go to two malls and the grocery store. He also shared his list of favorite restaurants, which were all wonderful! We met his property manager Deborah, who is very lovely, and always available if we had questions. Oh, and the other people staying at Diamond Head Beach Hotel were very welcoming. Whether they owned an apartment in the building, or were only staying for a couple of weeks like us, they made us feel like part of a big family. One of the owners even drove us around that corner of the island to show us the sights! We came because we heard about the amazing views from the apartment, and all of our expectations were surpassed in every way!
Well-managed property, directly on the Pacific, great high floor views in every direction
From the first moment, opening the blinds and the windows to allow the Trade Winds blow on through, the place was Heaven! Without leaving the apartment we could watch surfers on at least two surf breaks, as well as many outriggers coming and going from the canoe club a few doors away. When we explored the property we were very excited to find a grassy area directly on the seawall where there were tables and chairs, as well as a few lounge chairs where we did spend some quality time soaking up the sun while reading. The books we read were in the apartment, in a small library located in the bottom of the drop front desk. One evening at sunset we went for a very peaceful walk along the seawall that runs along the front of the grassy area. The spray from the waves crashing on the seawall was very refreshing! When we finally left the property the second day, we found it took more than 15 minutes to walk into Waikiki. That was only because there is so much to look at along the way. We found the convenience store we had been told about, located about six or seven minutes along the sidewalk from the condo. When we happened upon a children's hula rehearsal that really slowed us down! They were in full costume, preparing for a competition that weekend. Thankfully we had just purchased cold drinks at Russell Convenience, so were quite comfortable to sit in the grass in the park and watch these young children tell their stories through their hula. By the time we finally made it into Waikiki we were very hungry, so looked for a restaurant called Lulu's, located above a Starbucks, across the side street from the Honolulu Zoo. Wow, talk about views! We sat at a counter seat that gave us a view of the beach, the ocean, the people walking on the street below, as well as the entrance to the zoo. This is just one example of the wonderful walks we had each day from the condo. Another highlight was the Saturday morning we walked around Diamond Head Crater to a large farmers' market at Kapiolani Community College. So many in-season foods to eat on the spot, as well as to take back for other meals later. To sum up, this apartment is located in a fine, upscale neighbourhood with the ocean on one side, a 500 acre park across the street, and 101 things to do on foot each day. We will be back for sure!
Tongs Surf Break is a great surf break for everyone. It contains a fast right that closes out, a slower left that dumps you in a deep channel, and even some good beginner inside waves that roll all the way into shore. You'll also find a few kayakers that sit way outside and catch the occasional big crumbling left.
The wave tends to double up a lot which can make it tricky to manage...but all in all it's great for shortboarders, longboarders, and kayakers of all skill levels.
