Great location, condo is dark and a bit dated

  • 3 of 5

We loved the location of this unit, which is right across the street from the lift. And we had a great view of the mountain out the bedroom windows and from the balcony. We enjoyed watching the New Year's Eve fireworks from there. And the unit was fully functional - everything worked ok, and it had pretty much what we needed. (Note that the TV is now much bigger than the one in the picture.) It would have been even better if...

1. Lighting - the condo feels very dark, with dark colors on floor, walls, and furniture. In our bedroom, the only light is a bedside lamp. The unit could really benefit from more lighting! At night we were basically getting dressed for bed in the dark. And the same is true of the living room - why no light kit on the ceiling fan?

2. Floors - floors throughout the whole unit are covered in thick carpet, including bathroom and kitchen. Yuck. I wish there was a hard floor at least in bathroom and kitchen. The carpet makes it feel dirty.

3. Kitchen furnishings - the pots and pans and dishes feel like a miscellaneous collection of hand-me-downs. Some of the stuff is nice enough, but some hardly serves the purpose. We like to cook, and it was a struggle to find all the basic things we needed. In the end, we did manage to get all the cooking done, but it took some improvising.

Overall this is a fine place to stay, and you can't beat the location or the view. But our large group had several other units in same complex and also other properties nearby, and they were all more updated and modern-feeling than this one. Add some lighting, change the floors, and add some new dishes/pots/pans and this would be a winner.

As advertised

  • 2 of 5

The condo met our needs but was pretty basic. The entire complex was pretty run down and not well kept. It met our needs but nothing extra. A limited number of pots to cook with ~which is why we rented a condo with full kitchen. We ended up eating dinner out. Housekeeping charge was a bit high for the size of the condo and also required us to remove our own linens from bed. Likely would not return or recommend.
