About Bill Trufant

I was raised in New Orleans, where I still live, and attended summer camp in Western North Carolina. My wife and I purchased The Cabin on Eagles Nest along with our second residence in 2001 and we love spending as much time as possible in the mountains.

Bill Trufant purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Bill Trufant chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

We love Waynesville and its friendly people and we are only 30 minutes from downtown Asheville.

What makes this cabin unique

We have a large garden, available for our guests to wander and enjoy, that keeps us busy when we are in the mountains. After gardening, it's time to relax and travel Western North Carolina. We especially enjoy sunsets at Water Rock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway just 15 minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the manager

"Thank you for allowing us to share the beauty of this cabin with you. The surroundings are amazing! This was perfect for a little getaway - especially on Valentine's Day! We love how peaceful & refreshing the creek is, a big change for "city-life" We can't wait to come again."

Our second visit to the cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin feels like you're isolated in the woods but conveniently located to shopping and restaurants. The cabin has everything you could want and the plush towels and resort type toiletries are unexpected. The fenced property provides a great venue for our dog's exploring. We will no doubt visit again.

Wonderful and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Rented the cabin Wed to Sunday in August. It is clean, quiet and has all the essentials. Sitting on the porch with a coffee in the morning and a beer or glass of wine in the evening is perfection. Dining options are excellent in nearby Waynesville.

4 times + is the Charm

  • 5 of 5

Our 4th time at the cabin for a week's vacation was the time away that we needed. The cabin is one of our favorite places based on its comfort, amenities, tranquility, relaxing environment, and the perfect proximity to dining, shopping, sightseeing, entertainment and stores, such as, WalMart, Ingles and Belk. We always enjoy the fine dining in Waynesville that surpasses many larger communities. Frog Leap Public House, the Chef's Table, Frankie's Trattoria, Birchwood Hall, Sweet Onion, and Bourbon Barrel offer great choices in dining. We especially enjoy the down home cooking found at Clyde's Restaurant. A highlight for excellent bar-b-que is the Haywood Smokehouse - outstanding food and great desserts. The Blue Ridge Parkway with all of its sites is great for young and old; don't miss a trip to Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls on Rt. 276. Bill and Bobbi Trufant are wonderful people who take pride in offering any assistance they may provide and are very responsive to the needs of guests. Their adjoining property is beautiful and is a treat to see. The Cabin on Eagles Nest is tucked away in the trees and is so relaxing you will not want to leave. Rustic and comfortable, with a great front deck to sit and enjoy the quiet. We will return many times to this place as it offers all that we are looking for as a great vacation venue. Waynesville and the surrounding area is a wonderful place to visit.

Another wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

As always, the Cabin on Eagles Nest was a treat. More like staying at a friend's home than a rental. We will definitely be back.

Excellent cabin in the Smoky Mountains

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is set in a beautiful wooded setting, a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The cabin is warm and rustic and offers very comfortable accommodations. Master bedroom is downstairs with a private bath; upstairs, two full beds with a private bath, meeting our needs. It is roomy and very clean. Waynesville is a unique town offering a number of great restaurants. Waynesville is close to Asheville and many other sightseeing opportunities. Thanks for a delightful stay!

Location

Nearest Airport
45 Miles
Asheville NC Airport

Waynesville has long been known for its picturesque small-town charm. You will find friendly people, great shops, restaurants and tree-shaded benches to sit on and rest a spell. In season, ole ‘timey street dances and annual festivals fill the little town with excitement, but with none of the hassle of crowds and honky-tonk typical of “tourist traps.”

There is so much to do while you’re here. Explore the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Pisgah National Forest or the Biltmore Estate. Ride and hike the Blue Ridge Parkway. Golf down the road at Laurel Ridge Country Club, raft the Nantahala, ski Catalouchee, ride horseback…or simply kick back and watch the traffic at the bird feeders.

Other Activities: Shopping, Miniature golf
