About Bill Trufant

I was raised in New Orleans, where I still live, and attended summer camp in Western North Carolina. My wife and I purchased The Cabin on Eagles Nest along with our second residence in 2001 and we love spending as much time as possible in the mountains.

Bill Trufant purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Bill Trufant chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

We love Waynesville and its friendly people and we are only 30 minutes from downtown Asheville.

What makes this cabin unique

We have a large garden, available for our guests to wander and enjoy, that keeps us busy when we are in the mountains. After gardening, it's time to relax and travel Western North Carolina. We especially enjoy sunsets at Water Rock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway just 15 minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the manager

"Thank you for allowing us to share the beauty of this cabin with you. The surroundings are amazing! This was perfect for a little getaway - especially on Valentine's Day! We love how peaceful & refreshing the creek is, a big change for "city-life" We can't wait to come again."

The Cabin

It was a great two weeks. My wife & I enjoyed the cool weather, quiet, walking & shopping the downtown & eating in the restaurants.. Golf courses were great, too.

Secluded but Close In to town! Loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

We adored this place. We are a self employed couple with an elderly ailing family member. On top of that, we are building a house, so we needed a break! This was just the right medicine for us both! The cabin is a true cabin that is very well stocked. I especially loved rocking on the porch and sitting by the fire pit at night. Next time we book this place, it will be for longer than two nights! I can see us staying here for a week at least! Thanks to the owners for being so easy to deal with, and for allowing us to stay in your lovely cabin!

Wonderful Rustic Cabin in the Woods!

  • 5 of 5

Bill we had a wonderful time at your cabin in the woods. Just what a North Carolina mountain cabin should be. Extremely convenient to Waynesville with all its great restaurants and shops and, at the same time, very secluded. We also went to the Hart Theater and saw a play and The Strand Movie theater. The hike up to the end of Rocky Knob Rd. and back was great and we saw deer and turkey on the hike. Your cabin was very comfortable and quiet with all the things we needed.....except a dishwasher....but my wife took care of that she brought me!!! Also enjoyed the koi pond and running stream. Worked really well also for our aging dog with bad hips. Of course not much blooming in August but I bet the grounds are beautiful in Spring and Fall. Hope we get another chance to come back soon. Thanks Again!

Our second visit to the cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin feels like you're isolated in the woods but conveniently located to shopping and restaurants. The cabin has everything you could want and the plush towels and resort type toiletries are unexpected. The fenced property provides a great venue for our dog's exploring. We will no doubt visit again.

Wonderful and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Rented the cabin Wed to Sunday in August. It is clean, quiet and has all the essentials. Sitting on the porch with a coffee in the morning and a beer or glass of wine in the evening is perfection. Dining options are excellent in nearby Waynesville.

Location

Nearest Airport
45 Miles
Asheville NC Airport

Waynesville has long been known for its picturesque small-town charm. You will find friendly people, great shops, restaurants and tree-shaded benches to sit on and rest a spell. In season, ole ‘timey street dances and annual festivals fill the little town with excitement, but with none of the hassle of crowds and honky-tonk typical of “tourist traps.”

There is so much to do while you’re here. Explore the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Pisgah National Forest or the Biltmore Estate. Ride and hike the Blue Ridge Parkway. Golf down the road at Laurel Ridge Country Club, raft the Nantahala, ski Catalouchee, ride horseback…or simply kick back and watch the traffic at the bird feeders.

Other Activities: Shopping, Miniature golf
