This is a beautiful Spanish style home on a clean swimming canal 9 miles from Duval Street, Key West. Our home is just 4 houses from the end of the canal and the backwaters of the Gulf. Many uninhabited islands are nearby for exploring and discovering. Fishing and Lobstering are excellent as most tourists don't find this area. In the crystal clean canal you can pick out which snapper you want to catch without leaving the back yard. Located on a quiet street, this home is close enough to town for fun, but far enough for peace and quiet.
The completely fenced home includes two entry gates and water fountain in the front. Bring your boat, or rent a boat and keep in the canal behind the house. Boat ramps are 2 miles away. Large circular driveway will accept numerous cars and/or boats and trailers.
Our home is clean and neat with wood floors in living areas, new appliances, central A/C, cable TV, wireless internet, washer/dryer and fully equipped kitchen.
**We have remodeled all bathrooms October 2016**
Amenities:: Fully equipped kitchen, Cable TV, WIFI, DVD, washer/dryer, Hair Blow dryer, Iron/Ironing Board, linens, bicycles, clean swimming canal, totally fenced yard, just bring your tooth brush. Very quiet neighborhood.
Activities:: Boating, fishing, swimming canal, snorkeling, diving.
Area:: 5 miles from Key West.
I'm Cuban born and moved to Key West when I was 13. I lived in Key West until I was 26. I have fond memories of my childhood in the Keys and still have many friends there. I know almost every local resident on the island and will be happy to give advice on restaurants, fishing charters, beaches & things to do. While I now live in Miami Beach with my husband, we still visit our home whenever is it available.
Yiliam Eldridge purchased this house in 1996
This is my family home that I love and will never sell. My father bought this home after coming from Cuba, when I was a child. My husband and I enjoy updating and remodeling it every off-season, as well as just enjoying it when we can. Although I now live in Miami Beach with my husband, we love our Keys home and visit as often as possible. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
What makes our home unique is the quiet and friendly neighborhood. There are only two streets on our Key. The clear swimming canal is like a tropical aquarium with many species of colorful fish as well as good eating snapper. We've decorated our home in a comfortable Keys/Miami Modern style that is homey, clean and uncluttered.
Four members of our family stayed a week during March 2010 and had a great time. The home is everything as advertised and more. The owner was very helpful with local suggestions for activities and places to dine. The home was well stocked and maintained, I would definitely recommend to family and friends and we'll be back also. For the eldest member of the family the stairs were a bit of a challenge but she managed, we called it her physical therapy for the week.
This was a perfect location to enjoy the excitement of the Key's, and then be able to relax in the quiet of this peaceful retreat. Yiliam's home was spotless and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. She responded to my many questions without delay, and made us feel welcome in her home. We are so thankful to be able to stay in this amazing home in beautiful Key West!
Thank you for the lovely accommodations. Awesome location if you want to spend more of your time on key west. Owners are quick responders and give great information. We loved having our own Channel to watch all the fish go by. We also saw a couple of star fish and a crab! Busy down in the keys at this time of year middle of feb. Only bummer has been the traffic. If you think it will take 10 mins it will take 20mins. We came for winter break. But not complaining about the sites the nice people the wonderful house and warm sun. I would highly recommend to friends and family.
Let me preface this, if it's your first time coming to the keys...things are more relaxed and unfinished than what you'll find on the mainland (or a fancy hotel.) That being said, this house is a gem. And I really don't want to tell you that.
Spot on. It's so far off the beaten path that you only have to take two turns to get there. But it feels a world apart. You're 15 min from Duval Street (minus the circling for parking, but that's Key West, not the house.) After a few days you'll feel like a Conch and find the hidden spots for great food and drinks.
The hammock has sun in the days and a great nap shade before sunset. The canal...well I'll make that it's own section. Inside, the living room is comfortable, too much so. The couch, the sitting chairs, and the huge dining table gave each of us what we wanted.
My favorite! We've stayed at two other locations previously. 1: on a canal and 2: ocean front. Neither compared. This canal is quiet, calm, and SWIMMING WITH FISH. A starfish kept us company all week, along with a spider crab for 2 days, meanwhile a nurse shark strolled by looking for some crab munches. Drop in a line with some frozen bait (kmart has a bait shop) and you'll pull out fish after fish. Don't plan on landing something that will feed the family. But we easily pulled up 50+ fish in 7 days. 3 could have been keepers, but we were fishing for fun (catch and release).
Don't pass by the "questionable" places. My wife and aunt (traveling with family) really (overly) enjoyed disclaiming WHERE ARE YOU TAKING US!!! Pass by the questionable trailer parks and venture into Geiger Fish Camp and Hog Fish Grill. Same owner, killer food. I'm a Bo's faithful (Key West,) they are off my list now. When you go to either order the Hog Fish it should be called feather fish. It's soft and delicious no matter how it's made.
On Key West, go to Sandy's for American breakfast or a giant (Awesome!) cuban sandwich. El Siboney makes the real deal Cuban dishes. The decors is rather...wrong. But we left before we could find out why. The food was good.
Enjoy the tourist companies, they'll all treat you right. But don't think that is the keys. Be nice to the staff and find out more. They make their money making you happy. Talk to them, they live here. They'll give you something outside of the tour newspapers. (Echo dolphin/snorkel we've done twice and loved it both times)
Oh, Eco kayak at Geiger was awesome.
I would recommend this house in a heartbeat! The owner is responsive, helpful, informative, & always quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Her housekeeper Anna, keeps the house spotless. Thank you for all of the suggestions for places to go, things that are a must see, & places to eat. We went to Blue Heaven for brunch & all of us had the lobster benedict, well worth the money. We also enjoyed going to Hurricane Hole, No Name Bar, & to see the key deer. If you are planning a day at the beach or a fishing charter(we used Seaclusion with Captian Chuck, he was great) the Publix makes fresh subs & roll ups at a great price & you can order them on line. I can guarantee you will love this home & the canal.
Thank you again for allowing us the use of your amazing home, it is not hard to tell that you take great pride in this beauty!
This nicely furnished home is about 15 minutes outside of Key West, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle there! Our group (4 of us) stayed 5 nights.
- Comfortable beds
- Quiet and private, feels very safe
- Well-stocked kitchen
- Welcoming touches (bathroom and kitchen supplies are plentiful)
- Spiral staircase is a bit tricky to navigate with a large suitcase or cooler
- No dishwasher
- No dressers in bedrooms / luggage platforms would have been nice
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners are responsive and provide lots of great suggestions for things to do and places to eat while in the area.
Vacationed here and had a great time. Perfect house for fishing, kayaking, and just being lazy. Very quiet, clean and well stocked kitchen to include condiments. Easily accessible owner. Would diffently recommend.

Our home is between mile marker #9 & #10, 9 miles from mile marker #0, the end of U.S.Hwy. 1 in the heart of Key West. We are about 5 miles from town, groceries, restaurants, scooter rentals, Kmart, etc, 5 miles to beaches, 3 miles to the golf course, 2 miles to boat ramps, 1/4 mile to a large convenience store/gas station, and 1/8 mile to Bobalu's Southern Cafe for great fish, barbecue, pizza, etc. We are close enough to Key West to get where the action is in 10 minutes, and far enough away for peace and quiet. Our canal is great for floating on a raft, diving off the sea wall, swimming and fishing. Enjoy the hammock under the coconut palms by the clean canal while watching the parrot fish swim by, or wait for a nice snapper to bend your fishing pole without leaving the yard.
Golf: Golf course is 5 miles away.
