This townhome is walking distance to the Kicking Horse lift at Ski Granby Ranch (fka Sol Vista)!
We finished construction on this townhome in June 2010 and then set out to decorate with a modern mountain cabin theme. You will know that you are in the mountains, but everything is very modern and clean. We selected very high-end finishes throughout the house: granite counter-tops, hardwood hickory floors, upgraded carpeting, tile baths, etc.
The house is 1600 square feet with plenty of room for one or two families. The main floor is spacious and open. The living area features a beautiful stone fireplace (gas), leather couch, leather chair and a cow-skin rug. The kitchen, which features granite countertops, is stocked with all of the cooking equipment that you need to prepare a gourmet meal. The dining area looks out onto a large porch (equipped with a outdoor heater for year-round comfort) and a magnificent view of the mountains.
Downstairs is a room with twin bunkbeds and a common room that converts very easily to a comfortable sleeping room with privacy curtains and an extremely comfortable queen sofa-sleeper (visit the American Leather Comfort Sleeper web site if you have any doubts). This room has a 40' high-definition flatscreen TV, BlueRay DVD player with unlimited streaming from Netflix and a large kids DVD collection. Also downstairs is a large bath and laundry room.
Upstairs is the private master bedroom with a king bed with an aspen log frame as well as a master bath.
While the house is modern and sophisticated, it is stocked with kid-friendly features (we have a four and six-year-old): crib, double stroller, kid carriers for hiking, games, movies and toys, child-proofing, baby monitor, sippy-cups, etc. You can leave all your kid equipment at home and travel light.
There are so many things to enjoy within 1 mile of the house: skiing/snowboarding, sledding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking (cross-country and downhill), golf, fishing and hiking. Within 20 minutes you can easily reach 3 of Colorado's largest lakes (Granby, Grand and Shadow Mountain), the Winter Park resort, the Hot Sulphur Springs hot springs resort, the YMCA of the Rockies and several Dude Ranches.
A brand-new heated pool and hot tub is available to renters at the base of the ski mountain. Walk off the ski slopes and right into the hot tub to soothe your sore muscles.
You will have a wonderful time!

We bought this townhome because there is so much to do just out our door. Everything is so family-friendly and easy with the kids. There is not a better place to learn to ski than Ski Granby Ranch (fka Sol Vista). And the golf course has two family holes!
We spend most of our time skiing, snowshoeing, biking (cross-country mountain, downhill, road), hiking, kayaking, and spending time at the lakes (Granby, Shadow Mountain and Grand). When we are back at the place, we like to kick back on the porch and take in the views of the golf course and Rocky Mountain National Park.
I have happily returned three times to this cabin, in summer and winter, and with family and alone. The versatility of this place as both a sweet retreat and also a place to gather loved ones is perfect. If you are a cook, like I am, the kitchen is beautifully stocked even with pie pans and small Cousinart, plus good pans and utencils, even chopsticks and cheese knives. Entertaining is easy here, for an intimate group or a family. The views from the cabin are excellent, hikes nearby, snowshoeing trails and of course skiing and lakes for summer dipping. I am a huge hot water fan, in the form of "taking the waters" at hot springs, and a town over is one of the best public hot springs I've been to, called Hot Sulphur Springs, also ideal for families, couples or solo since it's really big enough to accommodate everyone at once. The floor plan, with open living space and simple, clean, layout artwork and furnishings is modern yet has the feel of Colorado/Southwest authenticity. I am a huge fan of this cabin!
We stayed in this condo for our Christmas vacation last year. It was very nicely furnished and the owners were great to work with. It was so nice to have a grill and a heater on the balcony. My daughter loved having all of the toys to play with. It was a wonderful vacation and would definately stay here again.
I spent a few days at this home in order to find some solitude to finish some writing that I needed to do, and this place was perfect for that. The house was comfortable and clean, and the mountain quiet was perfect for concentrating on my work. The internet was fast and reliable, and being far from other distractions helped me focus on what I needed to get done. Despite the beautiful views and feeling of solitude, amenities were plenty close. In the mornings I either took beautiful hikes right out the front door, or exercised down at the clubhouse just a short walk away. In the evenings I relaxed in the Hot Springs just a quick car ride down the road, before returning home to relax on the heated porch.
Overall it was the perfect combination of solitude and connection that I was looking for in order to get away from everything and concentrate on the work I needed to get done.
We stayed here for a weekend in early November and couldn't have had a better experience. The house is lovely and spotlessly clean and had nice touches like scented candles and the easy-to-use gas fireplace. Everything we needed was there - it's a great property with nice details and the owners have also gone out of their way to furnish it in a simple and tasteful manner. We stayed comfortably in the family room downstairs which had its own bathroom and a beautiful view of the snowy countryside and our friends stayed in the master bedroom upstairs. Each room has a lot of privacy so this is a great rental for a couple plus a family with kids.
The mountain was a short distance away and we also enjoyed the amazing athletic club where you can workout with a view.
In short, this rental had everything we needed for a relaxing and cozy weekend in the country. We'll definitely be back.
Miles and miles of private snowshoeing, cross country skiing, hiking and mountain biking trails right out your door! Over 5,000 acres to explore in Granby Ranch alone.
