We loved everything about our stay... the grounds are breathtaking and 8B is the PERFECT unit with beautiful views of the beach and the ocean. The unit was well stocked in the kitchen with utensils and dishes, a coffee maker, and full sized fridge. The bedrooms were spacious and with an attached bath for each, they were perfect. Placencia is a quiet town, but has great restaurants to try. The groundskeepers are very pleasant and always ensuring that the property is in pristine shape. I look forward to coming back to Los Porticos again in the future!
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay! Yes, Villa 8B is unique in that as soon as you step off the veranda - you are ON THE BEACH!
The groundskeepers take great pride in keeping the property as pristine as it is.
We are looking forward to your next visit.
Great place for groups
5 of my girlfriends and I stayed in this villa for a week. The rooms were incredible - slept all 6 of us comfortably and we were seconds from the beach and pool. Gayonne and the managers were incredibly helpful to us - navigating Placencia with a big group (2 more groups of 6 stayed in other villas, total of 18) and organizing fun activities for us.
We cannot recommend this spot highly enough!
AMAZING CONDO AND VACATION SPOT!
The condo was absolutely beautiful, any and every possible need or desire one may have for accommodations, this place has it! The amount of room is unbelievable and everything was absolutely spotless. You can sunbathe, swim, snorkel or sail along the isolated coves and coastline. The ocean teems with exotic marine life, and the uncrowded beaches invite you to enjoy their natural beauty, sandy shores and clear waters.
We will definitely be going back to visit Belize and stay here again!
I stayed for 6 nights at this condo resort in November 2010. It was very quiet...almost like it was your own private beach/resort. The accommodations were new, quiet, and very clean. The photos don't do the place justice. The decor and amenities were as nice or nicer than my home. Air conditioning was controllable in every room. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. Everything a gourmet would need was in the kitchen. One can walk off the lanai into the ocean within 30 seconds since the condo was beachfront. There is good snorkeling right off the beach if you can locate the reef just straight off the building across the courtyard from this condo. I didn't see any comparable places to stay in or near Placencia at this price point.
The airport is within a 5 minute car ride, yet I do not recall hearing the planes come in. The town of Placencia is within biking distance, but I'd recommend a golf cart to travel around in. The town has amazingly wonderful food whether cooked under an awning at the pier or at the Barefoot Bar, at really good prices, as well as many handmade souvenir items...Belize dollars are 2:1 US so everything is 50% off! The people in town are really friendly, not pushy or jaded like in Mexico. I felt really safe here even after dark. The best ice cream was at Tutti Frutti and the best restaurant food was upstairs next door, the name escapes me. Had something to do with fish, I think.
I did not take advantage of any of the excursions so I cannot say whether this condo location is convenient for those activities. Only two negatives...large ants come out at night around the kitchen sink if the ant traps are not put out. They completely went away once the traps were put back. I kept all food in the fridge just in case. I had the same problem in Hawaii, but with tiny ants Sand flies?, which seem invisible, bite if you do any serious beach combing. I believe that the owners are looking into a repellent that they might be able to recommend.
Peaceful Retreat with all the Amenities
I recently travelled to this destination. The condo was beautifully decorated, open to the sea air and gracefully located 15 steps from the beach. The beach was well kept and the swimming was wonderful. The condo had all the amenities and it was easy to travel into the village of Placencia to get supplies for meals. Although eating out is relatively inexpensive, you can also be self-sustaining in the condo. All the shopping is in local stores owned by local people. The village itself feels very safe-- day or night. The locals and the ex-pat Canadian community seem to get along very well and support each other well. This is good because this is a special place where the culture and the land are fragile and it is a privilege to be able to go there and stay in a private, local place and leave a very light travel footprint when you leave. I am saving up to go back as soon as possible!
