About the property

2 bedroom house, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-9), with expansive views.

Our unique tri-story home is conveniently located 1 block uphill from the beach. A large bedroom is on the lower floor, with queen bed, and full, plus twin bunk beds; a second bedroom with queen size bed, plus a large kitchen and dining area are located on the middle floor, and a multipurpose room is on top, with deck access for outdoor cooking. All floors have many large windows that fill the house with light, fresh air, as desired, and panoramic views including Catalina, its hillsides, Avalon harbor, and the ocean beyond.

We hope you enjoy your stay on the island and in our home as much as we do.

About Marian

Catalina has been a part of my life, and held a special place in my heart since I came on vacations with my parents, as a child; I met my husband here after I graduated from college. We brought our children to my parents family cottage every summer, and as they grew to adulthood we were blessed to be able to acquire our own house. Here, we all now vacation with the fourth generation in our family, our grandchildren.

We chose to buy this home because it was the perfect place to remember the cherished times my parents made possible and to pass on the legacy to those we love and those who would follow.

Great place to stay & enjoy the island.

Plenty of room. Great view of the harbor. Comfy beds & good showers. Location if a little noisy in the mornings from traffic. Over all great stay, we will be back again.

Disappointed

After all the positive reviews, we were excited to rent this home for a long weekend in Avalon. We were quite disappointed . It is very outdated, but I can deal with that. It was dirty, and many things in the home were broken. Window shades, closet door, curtain rod... all broken. One of the two TV's did not work. Dirty carpet. I did communicate these things with the owner, as she assured me that she will be giving these things attention. She is a very nice lady, and I enjoyed communicating with her prior to our stay. I would not stay here again. It is however in a good location, the beds were comfortable enough, and there is a view.

Owner's Response: In my previous email apologizing to our guest, I explained that this July was our busiest month of the year, and with groups staying literally back-to-back, it made assessing maintenance needs especially challenging. Cleanliness has always been a first priority, so we are addressing this complaint with serious attention. I mentioned, that the carpet has been cleaned regularly, but was a poor choice when installed several years ago, and never looks clean, so we have been planning to replace it, as well as the outdated windows in our house, when the season permits, and of course, blinds and curtain rods, at that time. We have a new t.v. now, the closet door has been put back on its runner, and the carpet cleaned, as of this date.

Great place to stay!

This house is very comfortable and perfect if you plan to hang out at Descanso and the dive park. Super close to town too! Even though it's a busy street, the house is quiet. Great ocean breeze flows through to keep you cool. Comfortable beds and nice bathrooms!! We will be staying here again for sure!

Perfect location for everything!

My girlfriends and I stayed at this beautiful house for the weekend. The weather was perfect. The house has some beautiful views and wonderful breezes. Short walk to the boats, the beach, restaurants and shops plus the spa is at the end of the street! Both the owner and property manager are sweet and helpful. Cannot wait to come back soon!

Nice house and great view!

It's a great house! Very nice neighbors and close to the shore. We were all out of shape so 4 houses uphill was a challenging walk if you have a lot of luggage. We like cooking so they had all the supplies we needed to cook up a family meal!

Fabulous Location!

What a great location. Just a block from the water and close to everything including recommended restaurants, grocery store and hikes. Realize that the place is old and not particularly soundproof for all of the golf carts that will go right by the house. But, everything worked (heat was tricky because the place has 3 floors and the top floor has tons of sun...hence the terrific views from up there). The morning temperature on the main floor was 64 degrees...despite a setting of 77 degrees! However, we just solved the problem the second night by shutting off the heat on the top floor. Don't let it scare you away, however. Location is worth it!

Owner's Response: I appreciate this thoughtful review, especially because I hadn't realized the house temperature could be a challenge, previously. But then, we rarely have a winter that has cold temperatures as this one did! I'm thankful the guests were resourceful and found a solution. We are hoping to replace windows in the near future, to somewhat mute the golf cart noises from the street.
