Recommndations:: 'We had a very nice stay in your apartment. The beds were very comfortable. It was agreed that it was the best sleep that we had while travelling in Europe. We had no trouble finding the apartment. We will gladly recommend your apartment to anyone who wants to be close to the main attractions of Paris, but still in a non-tourist area. We really loved the fact that we would walk to the bakery every morning to pick up fresh baked goods.' 'May I take this opportunity to say what a lovely time we had in Paris and found your apartment to be a wonderful base for our family holiday. Next time we visit Paris we will definitely look to see if your apartment is available' August 2009. 'Totally enjoyed our stay in your beautiful apartment. I would certainly use your place again - delightful!' September 2009. 'We had a wonderful time in Paris - and very much enjoyed your apartment found it to be very comfortable - a pleasure-' September 2009
Just got back from Paris, so wanted to drop you a quick line to say how much we thoroughly enjoyed being in your lovely apartment. And what a wonderful area - we have been to Paris many times but this was the first time in Oberkampf. It's an absolute gem.
So very many thanks for letting us rent the apartment - we intend to go back to Paris in 2018 so very much hope we can return.
Five of us stayed at the apartment as my daughter was running the marathon. It was an ideal place with a very well equipped kitchen, a good sized lounge and two bathrooms; it had an authentic Parisian feel.
The apartment is a few steps from Oberkampf metro making it ideal to travel around the city. In the local area there are a number of boulangeries for buying breakfast pastries and bread as well as the gluten free bakery near by. In the evening we were spoilt for choice as to where to eat and tried a different place each evening. However it is better to book a table beforehand at the most popular places. The nicest part was that the area was less touristy and seemed to mainly have locals eating out. There are also supermarkets near by to buy the extras.
This was a fantastic place to stay and we would all highly recommend it.
My wife and I traveled with two dear friends to Paris for a week's much-needed vacation. We chose Janet's apartment because of all of her glowing reviews and the proximity to many fun things to do and ease of access to multiple metro stations. Having a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment for 2 couples was ideal as we all take different amounts of time to get ready and all of the amenities that Janet's apartment provided allowed us to quickly call this place our home. In particular, the washer and dryer which made it so we only had to pack half as many clothes and do the laundry while we were there.
We walked (per my pedometer on my watch) more than 36 miles in the week we were in Paris and it was always such a great comfort to come back to this charming and cozy apartment. The kitchen is well arranged with plenty of supplies to get you through even the most tiring of days. With shops, restaurants and markets all around the apartment, we truly wanted for nothing. Our favorite was the bistro, Au Metro right downstairs, where we went often and had amazing times sitting on the Republique-district sidewalks watch the locals walk by. Au Metro's wait staff were very friendly to us, despite our terribly crude American-accented French. They were courteous and even laughed and joked with us, so much so that it made us begin to feel as if we were becoming locals ourselves.
We have all agreed that when we return to Paris, we shall all return to Janet's apartment and enjoy the good Parisian lifestyle. You'd do yourself a favor to do the same.
Fun Fact: The apartment is rather old and the floor sags in the living room, in some places quite a bit. What at first seemed unsettling, by the end of our trip, we missed that little section of the living room that we affectionately referred to as "the bowl". Trust me, it's the little things like this you will love about this apartment and about Paris. We cannot wait to return. Au revoir!
We stayed four nights in August with our two children and just loved it. I can only echo what other reviewers have said about how well equipped it is, comfortable, well decorated and fantastically situated next to Oberkampf metro station. We liked the way it felt like a much loved and lived in apartment with a sense of history to it. We also liked where it was in Paris - it felt a very 'Parisian' area with fewer tourists (in fact hardly any) that in some other areas. Having the boulangerie just a few metres away across the road was fantastic!
The apartment suited our group of 4 adults and 2 grandchildren perfectly. The facilities were as advertised, the instructions detailed and complete, and the location excellent. Having an outstanding gluten-free bakery (Chambelland) nearby was particularly helpful for our group. Comments made by others apply here also: lots of nearby commercial options, but on a quiet street just a few steps from a metro station. We would return here without any reservations - and hope to do so in the future!
With six people (4 adults, 2 children) this apartment met our requirements perfectly especially with 2 bathrooms, each with bathing facilities. While we did not use the kitchen extensively, we found it very well equipped. The apartment was well maintained and the beds were comfortable. The wifi is excellent. The apartment is located steps from the Oberkampf metro which made tourism and travel to the Gare du Nord with our baggage easy. The street is very quiet but is close to good restaurants, bakeries, wine store and an excellent Tuesday and Friday market. I highly recommend this apartment for families and would be pleased to stay there again.
A wonderful well appointed apartment. We were 6 adults and there was plenty of space for all. Tho' we have been to Paris many times this was the first time in the area of Oberkampf and it is a real Jewel. Plenty of small friendly bars and restaurants and supermarkets nearby. There is also a Saturday market. All in all a wonderful experience and one that we are keen to repeat
The apartment is situated on the rue de Malte, which is in the 11th arr. of Paris. It is within walking distance of the Place de La Republique and the Place de la Bastille. Also very close is the the charming 4th arr. with the Place des Vosges and the Picasso museum. The metro station is literally one minutes walk away, on two metro lines which take you to all the important sites to be seen. The trendy rue Oberkampf with its bars and bistros and amazing gourmet food shops is close by. It is truly the ideal apartment to visit Paris.
