Only 30 minutes away from Killington Mountain. We had such a great stay we will use this place for our future trips. Very gracious and kind hosts. "Extras" inside fridge and home baked muffins upon our arrival. Regular cable TV and movies on Apple TV. Washer / Dryer. Plenty of towels and linens. My mistake in driving up to owners driveway. The private driveway to cottage is next to main house. Thank you Sterlings !
I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. From the fresh baked blueberry muffins to the fresh eggs in the fridge, it was perfect! We had a wonderful time hiking around Woodstock and a few great meals from the butcher shop downtown. If you are looking for a place to stay in this area of Vermont, stay here!
We just returned from 3 nights spent at Sterling Cottage, and it certainly surpassed our expectations!! What a great place to stay with every amenity one could ever want or need. And what a nice surprise to find delicious blueberry muffins, a selection of Vermont cheeses, gourmet crackers, bottles of wine and sparkling cider, and several other items in the fridge, not least of which were the Sterling chickens' fresh eggs! We could not have been more pleased, and do hope we might return. Woodstock has so much to offer, and we didn't have time to explore as much as we wanted to. It is just a short drive to the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory, the King Arthur Flour bakery and store, and the (Rockingham) Vermont Country Store, and we enjoyed all of these places on our short visit. The cottage is darling, the grounds are gorgeous, and we, and our greyhound, Sophie, loved it all!
We spent 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The Sterling's pay great attention to detail and the furnishings were comfortable. We appreciated that they provided us with a few thoughtful starter items in the fridge. We felt at home with our two children aged 8 and 15 and liked the grounds of the Sterling property which were simple but very pretty. The living space was tight but cozy with all amenities; washer / dryer, pots and pans, coffee, and crockery of nice quality and we appreciated the several publications on Vermont and Woodstock. The only minor critique is the indoor arrangement for eating - a bar type set up versus a more proper table. A long time family in the town, one definitely gains some local insight from staying here. Thank you Sterlings.
We had an amazing week in a wonderfully adorable cottage on 7 majestic acres with owners who could not have been more accommodating. There wasn't one minute we didn't love. The cottage was perfect, immaculate and with every amenity you could ever need. Jon and Tamara greeted us with Vermont treats in the fridge when we arrived and home made blueberry muffins which were amazing. We loved the owners, the setting, the cabin and our spectacular escape from reality. It could not have been better!! Paradise found! Highly recommend!!
This secluded hideaway is private and yet close to the many area attractions. Jon and Tamara and extended family are wonderful hosts and take care of your every need. We received a warm welcome and a fridge full of goodies - cheese, crackers, juice, cream and coffee. The blueberry muffins were a delight and I already miss them. There were also condiments and spices in the cupboard. There is every kitchen tool you could possibly need and more as well as a lovely full set of dishes.
The cottage is compact but adequate and the fireplace was perfect for chilly mornings. We were grateful for the A/C on what proved to be an unseasonable hot spell our first week.
Woodstock and area is chock full of interesting activities to suit every taste. Don't miss Montshire Museum - it is a MUST!
Kudos- thanks to you we had one of our best vacations ever.
