Overview

About the property

Barn, 2 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

You won't see another property like this. The barn renovation took us years to complete and we are very proud of the finished product. Ample space to entertain. Our custom made dining room table comfortably sits 16-20 people! Sit back and watch the deer/turkey/pheasant go by your window. Full upscale luxury in a museum quality building that won't disappoint you. It's all about the details ! You can entertain at the game table, sit by the wood burning stove, have the children play on the WII, work out in the gym, sit in the sauna/hot tub/take a hike. Golfers: 3 Miles from Copake Greens on Copake Lake. Boaters: rent time/boat on the lake. Hikers: 20 minutes to Bash Bish Falls! Its all here and a its paradise. We built this barn as a guest house for our friends and family to visit, and with the daily family routine, we no longer have the opportunities we used to go use the property. We've had plenty of happy renters return time and again. Please check with me for winter rentals, as we only rent on exception during the ski season! Its beautiful year round, amazing spring, summer, and spectacular fall months.

There is so much to do in Columbia County in the summer. Biking is one of our favorite things to do. Enjoy Summer Theater at the MacHayden Theater. Try out Catamount Zip Line Park (6 miles away), go to the Ore Pit Swimming Hole (its really a fun place to take kids), take a hike on the Alander Mountain Trail near Bash Bish. Jiminy Peak is 40 miles north and has a lot going on year round.

I'm sorry I cannot accommodate Weddings, Bachelor Parties, Film Location, Legislative Conventions, Insurance Conventions, Pig Roasts, Live Animal Sacrifices, or any Parties in excess of 8 people at any time.

Sorry !

Keywords: Museum Quality Barn completely restored nestled in 52 acres of fields, woods, hiking trails. All new Recreation and Entertainment Paradise. Poker Table, Foosball, 50inch Plasma, Gourmet Kitchen, tremendous dining area, wood burning stove. Downstairs use the sauna, hot tub, and elliptical.

3 Miles from Copake Greens Golf, Boating, and minutes from Berkshires hot spots.

Barn sits across from our Main House which we use primarily during the winter season.

About Joseph Kasper

I've owned this property for 25 years, and its my favorite place to be year round. We've done a lot of entertaining here over the years, and our friends love visiting. We even had our wedding reception on the property!

I hope you enjoy your stay.

Joe

Joseph Kasper purchased this barn in 1993

Why Joseph Kasper chose Berkshires

I didn't choose to buy a vacation rental! We built the barn so our closest friends and family could come and stay us, while having their own space. We put a tremendous amount of thought and time into every detail. It's not your typical rental!

What makes this barn unique

Relaxing, and away from the frenzied pace of the city. You are in the middle of nature.

Beautiful Place!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends and I spent two nights here for a girls weekend for a 40th birthday. We had a wonderful and relaxing time. The barn is amazing and beautiful! We were able to cook full meals as the house was fully stocked with all the cooking equipment we needed. The loft with the 3 twins and trundle beds were great, even for adult ladies! The house was immaculately clean and Joe was very responsive and attentive to all our questions! We all would highly recommend staying here and are already talking about making it a yearly Girls trip!

Superb Location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, two children (15 and 12) and parents rented this house to celebrate my Mother's 70th birthday. The house is spacious and architecturally interesting. It also has a great feel in that it is not littered with a lot of extraneous stuff, so you don't feel you are intruding into someone's personal space. The converted barn sits on many, many acres and has lovely fields and woods in which to walk and spy deer, woodchucks, and turkeys. There is a great hot tub from which to enjoy the view and a sauna to boot!

My kids liked their sleeping loft- complete with foosball table. There is an extensive sound system both inside and outside the house and a comfy TV area to enjoy Sunday football and the Presidential debate. If you are not familiar with Craryville, it is close (10- 15 miles) to a great number of interesting NY farms that raise, among other things, grass fed beef, as well as western Mass towns like Great Barrington and Egremont.

The owner was super solicitous (remotely) while we were there to ensure everything was working. He allowed our dog Ruby to join us and was relaxed about both our check in and check out time.

The barn has both a wood stove and a fire pit- neither of which we got around to using! I definitely would recommend staying here and plan to come back when time off allows!

Beautiful Home, Amazing Property, Fantastic Host

  • 5 of 5

The pictures and description don't do this place justice! There are no details left undone - Joe, our host, has thought of everything. The home was beautiful and FULLY stocked. It is located on a quiet road close to many outdoor activities: Catamount Ziplining which we highly recommend, Bash Bish Falls - highly recommend, and biking the Harlem Trail-aslo recommend. Great Barrington is close by and the town of Hillsdale has enough to make the trip a success (restaurants, super market IGA, Ice Cream, shops). Very easy to get to from lower NY-a short drive off the Taconic. We asked if there was an outdoor firepit and Joe ran out and bought one for us! Beautiful views from the house and outside. He was there when we arrived and gave us the tour and helped us plan our stay. Joe checked on us to make sure we were getting the most from our stay. The home is on 50+ beautiful private acres. The house was clean and the kitchen is state of the art- the bathrooms were clean, beautiful, up to date. There is a loft that sleeps plenty (the kids loved sleeping up there). I would highly recommend a family get away as well as any other trip where you are looking for the peace of the outdoors with every comfort and activity close by- any season. We will be returning....

Perfect and fun!

  • 5 of 5

Truly enjoyed our extended weekend at the "Barn". It was beautifully restored and very comfortable accommodations. The property was gorgeous and I especially enjoyed the view from the round table!

Hudson was fun to explore and we had a great meal at Mexican Radio.

To top it off the weather was perfect!

The property is beautiful, peaceful and promotes relaxation.

  • 5 of 5

Recently a group of girlfriends and I stayed at the barn and immediately fell in love with the property and the area. We could not have asked for a better property to regroup, reflect and escape from our busy lives for a few days. It was a perfect getaway. We had talked about plans to go to surrounding attractions, but in the end the barn proved to be such a wonderful place to be that we ended up just staying put. We went for hikes around the property, played games, used the amenities (hot tub and sauna) and just relaxed and enjoyed the time together. It was wonderful. We all agreed that we would definately return again. The owners were very accomodating and thought of everything. The property is fantastic. Bravo!

Beautiful destination

  • 5 of 5

Four of us used the Barn for July 4 week. (We were two couples delighted to have sent our kids to sleepaway camp for two weeks. But now we want to come back with them because the loft is so brilliant for a little kid slumber party.) The location is wonderful - miles of beautiful rural scenery, Bash Bish falls, tons of great hikes, Great Barrington, Hudson, Tanglewood, etc. - but we knew that already. What surprised us was the property and the accommodations. We spent hours just sitting out on the lawn, sipping wine, staring out at the scenery and listening to all the crazy sounds of nature (flowing water, frogs, birds). Inside, we couldn't have been more comfortable. Beds were good, showers were good, dishwasher and appliances worked well, washer and dryer were great. It is an awesome accomplishment to create such modern comfort in an authentic space like that.

Also, Joe was wildly responsive to us. We asked way too many questions and he answered them all. He is proud of his property and cares about people enjoying their stay. If you're considering multiple properties, that should be the tie breaker.
