Great home for our stay
Kathy, the owner, was wonderful to work with. The home was exactly as we expected, very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for the week we were there. We were able to easily drive to see three of the great lakes, Michigan, Huron and Superior. Hartwick Pines is a beautiful state parking for both paved hiking paths and non-paved paths. Love the area and will definitely be back again.

We loved our stay!
Cute place on the river
The cottage was cute and clean. It looked to be retro 70"s which was fine with us. It was quite warm sleeping upstairs.
The casement windows in the second bedroom wouldn't open and there wasn't a fan in that bedroom that was high enough to pull air in from the outside.
Other than that, everything was great. I'd love to stay there in the winter! Maybe a snowmobile trip this winter...
Glad to hear that with one exception your stay was great, and that you would return!
So glad TOO to receive constructive feedback when there is something out of order with our home. I am going north this weekend to check the upstairs bedroom casement windows- which were all opening fine when I was last up in August to over see and do maintenance. The A frame construction can collect heat in the upper story- usually easily dispersed by Grayling's cooler nights and opening the large casement windows in both bedrooms. (The heat retention can be a good feature in the fall!) There are 4-5 fans supplied throughout the home. My past experience has shown that some air can be drawn in from the outside, once the windows are open. There are also upstairs and downstairs thermostats which can be dialed up or down, as needed.
We do close after the hunters leave in the fall months- so not open during the winter months- until late spring.
Thank You for your feedback!
FOLLOW UP- Owner promptly inspected casement windows in both upstairs bedrooms. It was found that all the windows opened except for one panel in the street side room, with initial resistance to opening with one out of the 2 windows. There are multiple rotating fans which can be used to help draw in and create airflow, some about chest height. We apologize for any discomfort to guests during their stay. Please do not hesitate to contact the owner for assistance as needed.
Amazing
This property was perfect! Clean, tidy, warm, and charming! Came up for a peaceful fishing weekend and definitely got what I wanted. Kathy, the home owner could not have been more helpful and gracious! Highly recommend and we will definitely be booking this property again! Thank you Kathy!
We are so GLAD that this guest found our home what she desired for a fishing retreat! Our aim is to provide a well ordered, cozy home base for people- to stay in and enjoy- and/or spring off from to their preferred sports, adventures and further travels in wonderful northern Michigan. A return booking is the highest compliment we can receive! Thank YOU!
Comfortable home in idyllic setting
We had a wonderful time in this very comfortable home. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable as well. We had a fly fishing lesson at Au Sable Lodge which was recommended by the owner and was very fun. Grayling is a great little town and within an easy drive to Traverse City. Communication with Kathy was excellent. We highly this home and would not hesitate to return.
We are SO pleased that our guests had such a wonderful stay, appreciated the amenities and would return for a future vacation to our home! Communication is attempted with each guest- to help identify their needs, services desired - in our effort to promote a most satisfactory vacation.
Wonderful Spot
Absolutely amazing spot right on the river. The house was much more spacious than I thought it was going to be. The scenery out the backdoor was fantastic, and we spent several of the mornings having some coffee down on the river right there.
If I'm ever staying up in the area again, I'll definitely look in to staying here once more..
How much we appreciate this candid review from a guest who appreciates the beauties and amenities of our river home!
Location
There is a gas grill and a charcoal grill for your use as well as several outdoor tables and chairs. For the fisherman/fisher woman there is a rack for holding your fly rods and another rack to hang your waders and boots upside down to dry. You'll be ready at the first sign of a hatch!
