We came here for a girls weekend and had a blast! It was so clean and comfortable-we didn't want to leave! Debbie was very attentive when we were there and needed things and made our vacation weekend great! I would definitely come back

Girls weekend

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay for a weekend. It is a perfect getaway house with so much character! Close walk to the town, beach, and the train station. Victoria & Debbie were very helpful and friendly. Whenever I go back I would love to rent this house again!

we love this place, and it needs a bit of attention!

  • 3 of 5

We love the light and decor of this house- have stayed many times despite the high price tag (esp off season). Love west Dublin. This time, however we felt the house was a little worse for wear and could see real signs of aging over our past years of visits. The exterior of the house is a bit worn out, including the screen door falling out. An interior door knob came off in our hands, and there was a stuffy pre season odor we couldn't get rid of. The dryer was broken and the bathroom pocket door was grubby/cob webs in the bathroom. At this price for off season we would have hoped for a bit more. I'm also thrown off by the cleaning rules and would prefer a fixed price for cleaning! With a coat of paint, some seasonal deep cleaning and couple days of a handyman this charming place will be wonderful again.

Owner's Response: Dear Lesley - thank you for your suggestions. In fact I just put a new roof on the entire house a few months ago and the apartment is scheduled to be painted inside over the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, old houses near the seaside - such as mine - were very hard hit by brutal storm weather (near hurricane conditions) this winter/early spring, which accounts for the wear and tear. Cobwebs - as well - are a constant battle: soon after dusting and cleaning the house, they are back again and are a part of living in the country and the change of season. All guests are given the choice of whether they wish to handle the cleaning at the end of their stay - to save on costs - or not. You were given - at the time of your reservation - an estimated cost of the time/charge required to do that. The reason there is a detailed list of what we require - should you decide to do the cleaning on your own - is to avoid any misunderstanding and be very clear on what is expected, considering that not everyone has the same concept of cleanliness/cleaning. The dryer - brand new 2 years ago - was not broken, and any similar issues could have been easily resolved had you contacted Debbie on the spot. Not all guests - when leaving the house - use the care that should be given to an historic home nor do they inform us on what they have broken or damaged, so I thank you for your candour. We will try to be a bit more vigilant in this regard in the future. In the meantime, thank you for your time in writing a review. All the best, Victoria

Tasteful home within walking distance of town

  • 4 of 5

My partner and I had a wonderful weekend in Greenport at Victoria's cottage. The furnishings are tasteful and personal, the kitchen is well-stocked and airy, everything is sparkling clean, and it's in a perfect location: completely quiet yet just a short walk to town. Great size for two. We were happy to wake up there both mornings, and happy to "go home" both nights. We plan to return.

my husand, myself and a friend had a wonderful weekend in Greenport in this charming house.

It was roomy , cozy and fit 3 adults perfectly. I would say 4 or 5 could stay comfortably for a weekend.

It was in walking distance to everything you need.

The kitchen is large and spacious and we had coffee not only there but on the outside porch.

We loved it so much that we are going back to the house again.

HIGHLY recommended.

What more could you need . . .

  • 5 of 5

Our stay on Fourth Street was perfect. Walking distance (or biking distance) to beaches, markets, harbor, restaurants, and LI RR & Jitney. What more could anyone need? A wonderfully quite street one block from the bay, and quick ferry over to Shelter Island, and short driving distance to any of over 40 wineries. The cottage was well supplied, and quaintly furnished. Highly recommended.
