Enjoy a wonderful luxury home experience on one of northern Michigan's most famous rivers. The two-and-a-half bathroom home has three bedrooms and two loft rooms that are versatile and can accommodate a number of guests. The outdoor deck (riverside), the many windows, and the long kitchen bar are among the many unique features. However, the Rumford fireplace with Black River Michigan stone on the exterior is the centerpiece attraction. The house also features a three-zone geothermal heating and cooling system. The upper lofts are reached by ascending an iron-rod spiral staircase.
The ground-floor bedrooms feature foam beds. The master bathroom includes a stone-tiled Jacuzzi tub and shower highlighted with inlaid Petoskey stone. WiFi access and Dish Network satellite television are also available. In addition, you can access your personal Netflix account via Apple TV if desired.
Outdoor activities include easy trail access to the nearby Rayburn property (state-owned) and/or Hanson Hills on the edge of town for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, downhill and cross country skiing, or disc golf, depending on the season. In addition, there are miles of two-tracks, as well as hiking and skiing trails in nearby national forests. Kayak and canoe rental is just five minutes away in downtown Grayling. The local bike shop also has rentals for the town's many bike paths. And of course, the AuSable River provides some of the best fly-fishing in the country!
River access is just steps away from the house, where the water is clear and shallow, and the river bottom sandy for leisurely walks in the great AuSable.
Come and enjoy the river amid privacy and cedar trees all around.
Nathan and Randi Foster purchased the property in 2006, returning it to the Foster Family after three decades of various ownership.
In 1975, Nathan’s grandfather Dud Foster purchased a large swath of land at the headwaters of the AuSable, near Grayling, named by early trappers as Breakfast Point. Dud eventually subdivided his holding it into several parcels. He saw something in the river and surrounding cedar swamp that intrigued him. He turned the swamp into little hobbits of habitability one truck load of sand and a handful of Petosky stones at time.
Nathan’s other grandfather Art Lindauer, who lived his life as an architect and farmer, designed the home. Inspired by famous architects before him, Art’s vision and unique ideas have come to life inside and out. Some notable features include stained concrete floors, spiral staircase, natural light, large windows, diamond windows in the lofts, the Rumford fireplace, tight white stucco with a splash of color. The drawings of the River House at Breakfast Point hang in the walkway overlooking the great room in tribute to his efforts.
We are proud to offer a unique, modern, luxury home on the banks of the Au Sable River at a place called Breakfast Point.

My wife and I chose the AuSable cabin as a weekend getaway for our fifth anniversary. The house is beautiful top to bottom, well thought out and perfectly appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed and we were surprised by the quality of the equipment. We loved the river view and the yard, and our dogs were happy to run around, but were also completely safe (even though one almost fell in the river). The living room was comfortable, the internet worked well, and even though we had a rainy weekend, the house was comfortable in every way. We're already talking about coming back, preferably for a longer stay with a larger group.
Lovely updated home to enjoy our vacation. Read a book in a pretty and relaxed setting, fly fishing literally in the backyard and being able to bring the dogs was a huge benefit. Highly recommend!!
I stayed in this property couple of years back and really liked everything the property had to offer. Decided to visit this property with my eight year old daughter this time. Property is well appointed with adequate utensils in the kitchen and even a nice Keurig machine. Large windows in the living area makes the living room well lit to sit and watch folks canoeing down the Ausable and the wooded area around. Most attractive part of the property is the access to the Ausable river. River at this location is sandy and its fun to play on the river. There also couple of canoes in the property that we used to go up and down the river few times. Lakes in Michigan are really breadth taking to watch but just too cold for a person from Texas to enjoy the water. Spending time in the water is almost a must for me during summer and this river house has plenty to offer and have great fun with family. Thanks to the owner for maintaining this property well and we hope to return and enjoy a summer or a winter break at this location again.
Beautiful home, lovely spot on the river, Scott and Tina were friendly and helpful. Great for just relaxing or as a base for fly fishing.
we like really nice places to stay. the ritz in chicago, the grand hotel on the island, chanteau chantel when in traverse, four seasons on lanai...now i will include this riverhouse when on the au sable....very classy..clean...great for two couples...bedrooms very private with their own baths..secluded,classy,top notch river front accomadations...no complaints whatsover...i came to canoe the south branch ( the best stretch of water in michigan...but i'm thinking of a winter cross country ski trip...the mason tract is very pretty winter destination along with a visit to ma deeters...thanks randi we'll be back
The house is absolutely gorgeous. Everything is top notch, very well stocked, clean and brand new. The view and location are perfect. The large deck is great to sit and watch the river, or you can sit at the rivers edge and enjoy a fire. The property managers live next door which is also a plus, if you need anything they are very willing to assist. The only downfall would be seating outside. I wish there was a picnic table or some type of table to sit at outside and eat. Next time I will take some travel chairs. Seating inside is ok, just a small breakfast nook table, and the large bar with 5 bar stools. The master bathroom is stunning, the shower with the stone is exquisite. The fireplace is is breathtaking as well. This is a great place to stay. I would highly recommend it, we will be back. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
