About this property

Alpine Creek Lodge-Denali Highway

Alpine Creek Lodge is in the heart of the Alaska Range on the Denali Highway between Cantwell and Paxson. This is a very unique property, and a new lodge. The nearest town is over 70 miles away! We are located 68 miles East of Cantwell and 67 miles West of Paxson. No neighbors for 26 miles. The lodge sits on the South Facing slopes at the foot of a long since receded glacier. Alpine Creek is spring fed and runs year round. We are open year round, and in the winter the Denali Highway is not plowed.

Traveling into the lodge in winter via snowmobile is amazing! The Aurora Borealis is seen on most clear winter nights, and is an unforgettable experience. The rental can include anything you would like to do, to include fully guided fishing, hunting, ATV and snowmobile tours. You tell us what you would like and we'll make it happen.

We have suite rooms variable for $250 a night for two and $50.00 for each additional person. Each suite has a queen bed in them and two twin beds. We do offer the ability to rent out the entire lodge. Give us a call for other options and rates.

Dreadful
Visited this property with a group of birdwatchers from the UK. We found this place to be grubby, shabby and dirty at best. Booked for 2 nights and only stayed one as no other accommodation within 100 miles. It’s a hunting lodge with people bragging about shooting bears. Bedrooms very basic and tiny. Shared bathrooms basic. Decor and upholstery dirty. I’d read previous reviews before booking which i’m pretty sure now aren’t genuine. Owner wouldn’t cancel and refund my 2nd night so I left anyway. My advice would be don’t book it’s a dreadful place to stay.

Seeing Alaska VS. Lining Alaska
Alpine Creek Lodge – August 2016 When we decided to go to Alaska for our 25th Anniversary I started the process of sorting thru all the different opportunities sorting thru many towns, hotels, tour guides and many lodges; we happened onto Alpine Creek Lodge, MP68 on the Alaska Highway. I emailed Jennifer, she proceeded to tell me that they had packages that included fishing, sight-seeing, 4-wheeling and other activities that were custom made to our liking. I told her we also wanted to ride the train and take a tour to see the glaciers and maybe a whale. She said, “No problem, I can put your whole trip together, from the time you touch down until you take off.” To say the least she put together a package for the lodge as well as utilizing other tour agencies and the Alaska Railroad, one price for all. We spent the last 2 days ‘Seeing Alaska’. The difference between ‘Seeing Alaska’ and ‘Living Alaska’ is Alpine Creek Lodge. Russ and Sharon (their part time help from Maryland) picked us up at the hotel early. We arrived at the Lodge in the afternoon after a lunch stop, that’s when we met Jennifer, Claude and their son Bob as well as Chrissy the chef and Bandit. The next 5 days were a blur, fishing, sightseeing, 4 wheeling in the Razor to Moose Camp (could get muddy if you’re lucky), gold panning (nice hike), fishing, and glassing for Cariboo and, and visiting with Iditarod Mushers was one of highlights. Meals were served Family Style with lunch out on the trail; Bob can make one fine burger. Each evening ended with a visit to 3 Bob’s Bar, visiting with other guests, sharing stories of their day. When we left, it was like leaving family, and we will be back. With 16 months of planning and looking at many photos, our expectations were very high, I must admit the things we did and the places we saw were far above and beyond our expectations. If you want to ‘See Alaska’ get behind glass with a hundred other people, if you want to “Live Alaska”, call Jennifer and Claude at Alpine Creek Lodge. Excellent way to experience real Alaska
This is our first trip to Alaska, we wanted to experience the real Alaska. This place is in the middle of amazing nature, nature and nature with not much people around. Lakes, forests, mountains, wiled life, you name it. Staff and owners are super nice. Food Is good. Hosts answer any questions and created custom trips for us in to the wilderness. We had allot of fun. Special thanks to owner’s sun Bob for being an amazing guide.

Oasis in the middle of Alaska
The Lodge accommodations were comfortable, rustic, with shared bathrooms, similar to hostels. The dinner and breakfast were also included. We did a great hike up to the lake, played cornhole, cool bar with a great bartender named Tim. Need to update the games a bit, but we managed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Need screens on windows so they can be opened for fresh air without mesquite attacks. Really cool Oasis in the middle of Alaska.

About the host

Hosted by Claude and Jennifer Bondy

Host profile image
This is a family run business. We are living a dream that started over 30 years ago. We are life long Alaskans, and have many stories to tell about our great state. Jennifer and Claude Bondy own the lodge, and their two kids are quite the host to our guests, and they enjoy the lodge life.

Why they chose this property

We spent over 10 years actively searching for the perfect spot. We finally found it 9 years ago, and spent 2 years working as hard as we could to be able to purchase this property and build our lodge. This is in one of the most remote and beautiful places in Alaska. Very few people know about this area of Alaska, and provides us the serenity of enjoying Alaska without the crowds.

What makes this property unique

The most beneficial part of our property is the solitude of the wilderness. The views from the lodge are of 100 square miles of remote Alaska, and it is your private playground while staying with us. We don't have strict rules about what you do while you are at our lodge, and we want you to be as comfortable as you are at home. Your privacy and respect is of utmost priority while you stay with us.
