Activities & Area: Ping Pong Table, heated pool, sandy area, 60' private dock on property, hammock. Area: In my mind's eye, we're the most ideal situation in all the Keys. Cudjoe Key is primarily a residential key, not the hustle/bustle of the Upper Keys which I consider a suburb of Miami at this point. We used to own in the Upper Keys but ventured into our area in search of the last vestige of what the Keys are all about, laid back little string of islands with the most amazing water in the world. We are 20 minutes from Key West and all the obvious advantages to that and we are 20 minutes from Bahia Honda State Park voted one of the top ten beaches in the United States.

Traveling is our favorite thing and being in the most exquisite places in the world and seeking them out is a favorite pastime.

Some places you fall in love with. The Florida Keys is one of those places. Absolutely nothing like it.
The "Roost" rocks! Thanks to all the gang! Clean, neat, no ants. See you back here soon.
We have rented multiple homes through VRBO and Heron's Roost was the best yet. The home and grounds are meticulous. We choose this property for its location in the lower keys. It was great to have a quiet home base yet be so close to Key West and outstanding natural attractions. The owner shares her "best" of list and it was spot on for restaurants, water activities and grocery stores. We are family that loves to eat out but also cook. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything one needs. The BBQ served us well as we cooked fresh local fish several nights. The pool was well maintained and the perfect place to cool off. One of the biggest surprises were the comfortable beds in each of the rooms. No tossing, no turning and no achy back in the a.m. Outstanding. I personally haven't slept better in quite some time. Would most definitely recommend this property and will rent from Linda again if we find our way back to the Keys!
We stayed the week of Christmas and it couldn't have been more perfect. House is exceptionally clean and the pool was wonderful. We have rented many other properties and this is one of our favorites. We have already reserved for next year. Can't wait to go back!
Just returned from a week at Heron's Roost. The house was spotless and like the other reviews said, the beds and linens were very comfortable. We had two 17 year old boys who enjoyed fishing off the dock and caught a good number of fish, including a little nurse shark (all were returned to the ocean). We enjoyed the view of the ocean, the pool and the noodles and ping pong table. We rented bikes, kayaks and a SUP from Linda's recommended vendor. We did not do as much of that as we should have, but we also went out twice with Capt Paul, another friend and recommendation of Linda's. Once was a sightseeing boat trip and the other was fishing. We enjoyed all. There are many good restaurants within a few miles of the house. We ate twice at Mangrove Mama's, twice at Kiki's Sandbar, once at Bella Luna (across the street), once at Square Grouper (upstairs) and got pizza one night too. We got groceries from the Winn Dixie a key or two above and deli meat for sandwiches from Murray's Market. All of this is in the information that Linda provides. The AC and Internet worked well which helped me to work in the am while the kids slept and having a washer and dryer were key. We went twice to Key West which was an easy drive. We went once renting golf carts and bikes to eat and shop and once to go to the Beach at Fort Zachary State Park and then shop an eat. :) We when to Bahia Honda State Park twice. Once to watch sunset and once to snorkel on Looe Key.
I really can't think of anything I would change about the house. We saw birds and iguanas on the property and it has some of the most beautiful landscaping and mature trees. We did not swim in the ocean off the docket because it is pretty murky, I would definitely go to a real beach to swim. I can see why people fantasize about retiring here. If we go to the Lower Keys again, I would definitely stay here or rent from Linda again.
Great accommodation in the lower keys with proximity to many activities. Pool was lovely after a day of beach, fishing, snorkeling, whatever. Small home, but well laid out and apportioned for large family gatherings/activities. Owner very responsive to problems or issues of repair.
We had the time of our lives from November 19th- November 26th. It is our 4th time in the keys and never stayed at a home like yours. The pictures on vrbo are EXACTLY what is there....just breathtaking. We had Capt Paul take us out fishing over the reefs twice. He treated us like he knew us forever and is very interesting to listen to. We will definitely be back to rent your house again.

Our area has some wonderful restaurants just minutes away; we have a little market on Summerland Key (3 minutes) that has everything from Coleman Colorado beef to white truffle oil to Boar's Head deli meats etc and a Winn Dixie on Big Pine 10 minutes, or Publix etc in Key West 20 minutes. Two terrific local fish markets provide you with fish caught the day you buy it - get it at the source. We also have hundreds of acres of Bird Sanctuary on Cudjoe Key were we drive in the evening and watch the herons and ibis flying purposefully while we watch the sunset. Key West Golf Club 15 minutes away.
Other Activities: kayaking, ping pong table
