Overview

About the property

Cottage, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Brand new (August 2010), delightful cottage in Central Eugene (Home of the Oregon Ducks), is located between the Pacific Ocean and Cascade Mountains in the lovely Willamette Valley. Features include serene colors and textures, tall ceilings, and antiques. All furniture and linens are top quality and new for your comfort. Reading a book in the cozy window seat is a perfect way to unwind after a full day of activities. Ample storage is provided for your belongings. A deep closet with shelves can accommodate most personal items. In addition, space above the 9 foot row of cabinets can store extras. Larger items can be placed in the garage as stated on the checklist. Finally, light fills the cottage through extensive quality lighting, skylight, bay window, and two other large windows. Built with a good sized kitchen, the studio comfortably sleeps 2 adults and 1 child. The w/d and closet space are bumpouts into the garage. The overall sq. footage is 500 sq feet.

Your home away from home is off a safe, quiet dead end street, surrounded by lovely gardens. Bungalows, Cottages, Tudors, Atomic Age Ranches, and Craftsmen homes were built in the neighborhood, creating an interesting flat walking tour through one of Eugene's older neighborhoods. Plenty of patio seating is available to take advantage of our perfect Oregon summer and fall. Next to the Amazon bike trail, easy access to Eugene is available. In addition, the rapid bus system is just a few blocks from the cottage. An easy walk will get you to major venues in Eugene: the U of O, Hult Center/Cuthbert Amphitheater/The Shedd, library, Saturday Market, fine dining, and many recreational opportunities. Also, several parks are sited close to the cottage.

About Carole Carlson

I am a retired school teacher with many passions: gardening, reading, hiking, my family and friends, Bach, learning to play the piano, travel, and my pets.

Carole Carlson purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Carole Carlson chose Eugene

After years of accumulating junk from my 3 sons, I decided to turn unused space into a practical, simple studio. As with most things in life, The Cottage took on a life of its own and begged to become a Vacation Rental! It's still practical. However, it now considers itself elegant and charming.

What makes this cottage unique

I love Eugene. As a transplanted East Coast big city kinda gal, I appreciate what this city has to offer: great summers and falls are perfect for outdoor activities, winters bring skiing and visits to the coast, the stimulation of being in a college town (Go Ducks), excellent medical facilities, and sipping Pinot Noir while the sun sets at 10 pm on a perfect July night.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a delightful experience staying at your Rose Cottage. I found it wondrously appointed; healing, meditative, restorative. Thank you so very, very, much. This was the best part of my time in Eugene.

Charming cottage in convenient Eugene neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

This small, but well-appointed and very clean studio is set in the owner's lovely garden with a patio for guests' use. The neighborhood is pleasant for walkers, runners and bikers, and the property offers easy access to downtown and elsewhere in Eugene. Viewing the photos, we thought the space might be too constricted for comfort, but found that it packs a lot of amenities (nice kitchen/dining area, washer and dryer, closet, places to set one's things in the bathroom, very comfy bed, etc.) into a limited space and worked just fine for us. Carole was a thoughtful, responsive host and we enjoyed meeting her. We'd recommend the cottage for couples and singles and would stay there again. Thank you, Carole.

Carol's cottage in Eugene

  • 5 of 5

A slice of heaven tucked away in a charming cul-de-sac of Eugene, nestled in a quiet neighborhood. That's what we wished for and that's what we got. We had the opportunity to stay in the quarters below the house in addition to the cottage this past June. We were delighted to discover that it's as much the personal touch & hospitality of Carol, the propietor, as it is the premises that made our fourth visit here fun and new. We'll return for the football games in fall, vineyard hopping, and scouring for new places to eat one hundred times more in the future and if the stars and celestial bodies hear us, we'll stay at Carol's place each time. Wonderful clean quarters, a happy canine-Liz, and free therapy sessions from an educated well-traveled lover of the Humanities, this place is a little nirvana in a quaint neighborhood that quiets the noise of a rowdy world.

Best in town

  • 5 of 5

Terrific location, space, and hostess. Jump on the nearby bike path to explore town, or an easy walk to downtown restaurants and shows, or to UO campus. Quiet and with beautiful gardens year-round, Carole has taken care of everything, even kitchen & laundry. I have family in the area and have been traveling to Eugene for 25 years, this has been my go-to place for the past 5. Top marks, thanks Carole !

Small but so comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed 4 nights in this perfect getaway. We lacked nothing. A full kitchen with lots of spices, oils and coffee. Carol also has home made granola and yoghurt waiting. If you want quiet, this is your place in Eugene. Close to everything, especially U of O. The yard looks like a botanical garden. Incredibly beautiful. We would recommend this with no hesitation.

My new home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Just stayed in The Cottage for a few days & it was absolutely delightful! I visit Eugene fairly frequently because my daughter lives there, and usually stay in a hotel, but from now on I hope to stay in the cottage. It was clean and well-equipped, and the location is ideal. You can easily walk to stores and restaurants, and also easily hop on the freeway. It's very quiet, and if I could have the garden of my dreams, it would look like Carole's. She's a sweetheart and made me feel very welcomed .
