My wife, Diane and I came to Grand Lake on vacation in the summer of 1999. We loved the area and the people so much that we decided right then and there that this is where we wanted to retire to. We built our home in 2000 and expanded to rentals in 2004. We love sharing the Grand Lake experience with others. I retired from the post office in January of 2009 and Diane retired from teaching in the spring of 2010. We live on the lake full time now and it is wonderful but the best part is meeting all of our fabulous guests. We hope to see you soon. Ron and Diane Scheips
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010
In August of 2010 we purchased the lakefront property across the street from our home and other VRBO listing #290131. We felt that this cottage would make a wonderful addition to our other rental as we now have a great dock and beach area for our guests to enjoy along with the 2 bedroom cottage. We now have the capability of accommodating larger groups. Also, this area is a quiet residential area with very little traffic and abundant wildlife.
If you choose to stay at Laketime Cottage, you can enjoy a whole host of things to do. You can just sit on our shaded deck and enjoy sunsets, watch the squirrels play, make a fire in our fire-ring, swim off our private dock, grill out on our provided charcoal grill and just enjoy nature at its finest.
I brought my parents and kids to Ron's lake time cottage to do some fishing and relaxing, and we all had a great time. We caught fish and rode on Ron's pontoon boat and rented our own boat for a day. We sat around the fire at night, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I fully intend to return, hopefully on a regular basis.
We enjoyed a very nice, quiet weekend. The cottage was clean and had all the equipment necessary for basic cooking and grilling. The sun room and deck have a beautiful view of the lake. Ron and Diane are extremely friendly and gracious. We will definitely be back.
We spent a couple of days last week here for my birthday and had a wonderful time. The cabin was cute and cozy and the deck was spectacular! We spent most of our time out there. Ron and Diane were super friendly and hospitable, giving us a tour of the lake in their boat and pointing out interesting houses, places, etc. The pebbled beach was fun for swimming and the dock was a great place to soak up the sun and swim in deeper water. Even though it rained quite a bit we still had lots of fun just relaxing. We saw eagles and deer and my children loved feeding the geese and ducks in the morning. The cove was quiet and peaceful and there was a public swing set next door; perfect for kids. I took some truly magnificent pictures of the water at sunset! I am so glad we found this place; we will absolutely be back!
Glad our group of retired guys choose Grand Lake this year for our annual fishing trip and glad we found Laketime Retreat (VRBO Listing #316256) for place to stay. The cabin was as advertised – good beds and well equipped kitchen. The deck was a great place to for morning coffee and an evening beverage.
The Laketime dock was very convenient for securing our boats in the evenings. We were able to keep trolling motor batteries charged without pulling boats out of the water. Oh yes – we did catch some crappie on a rainy morning.
Ron and Diane were very accommodating and showed pride of their property.
Oh yes – bass fishing was great – try ZOOM Brushhogs – watermelon red in 8’ to 12’ foot of water.
These old guys will be back to Laketime Retreat on Grand Lake!
We were there for 3 days at Christmas and had the most relaxing stay. The cottage was very comfortable with a beautiful view! It was Christmas Eve when we decided to go out of town and Ron called us back right away. He made sure we had everything we needed for our Christmas Day arrival including a Christmas tree! We hope to come back in the summer so we can enjoy the amazing deck and dock a little more. Thanks so much!!
What a great weekend get away! My family ranges from ages 2 - 63 years of old and we all had a super time. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything that we needed and more. There was a total of twelve of us and never once did it get crowded unless you where in the kitchen at dinner time. We took the kids over to little blue and watched them play in the fresh water spring. So much to do and so little time to get it all in. We are all already planning our next trip to see "Captain Ron" and his wife.

'Rock- crawling' has taken the area by storm. It is getting more popular every year. Disney, the town close by hosts some of the nation's major rock-crawling events as seen on ESPN. Rock -crawling is the sport of taking heavily modified, souped up trucks and climbing the steep rock formations below the dam in Disney. They are incredible to watch.
