This one bedroom apartment with one bathroom on the second floor of historic Art Deco building is steps from world class restaurants, avant-garde theaters, trendy cafes and the best shopping this city has to offer. The apartment is decorated with passion and attention to detail: classic modern furniture, color coordinated organic sheets, rugs, cotton linens, kitchen and bath ware.
The building features a small outdoor seating patio with gas grill, free washer and dryer (shared in the basement) and close proximity to Metro only block and a half away.
Garage parking is available near our unit for $20 to $30 a day.
Street parking is by permit only between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We can get visitor's parking pass for you from a local police station for $40 for the stay, and you can park, day and night, on the street. The parking pass is for zone 1, so any street marked zone 1 on the signs is fine (quite a large area). Please note that during the season the streets get cleaned -please read signs clearly and visibly posted on each street when you must move your car for street cleaning.

I live in this wonderful city with my two boys Alexander and Christopher, only few blocks from the rental property. We spend every weekend at a museum (Air and Space is the favorite), hiking through Rock Creek Park or on a fifty year old carousel in front of the Smithsonian Gardens and we hope that all our guests enjoy this vibrant city as much as we do. As a single mom I need to provide for my two boys. I love to travel and so do my kids. Most of the time I travel out of DC and the situation helped me see that just as I love to leave the city and to explore other places, there are people who come to visit DC to spend time with their families. My two boys, my family, are the best critics of any place, as no furnishings are safe from their play and no vase is sacred to them. Our places are luxurious but ready to be used. I understand what most travelers need to feel comfortable since I have traveled extensively around the world to Africa, South and Central America, Asia and Europe . Please come and share your vacation time in our home. I promise that we will do our best to make you feel comfortable. This is the reason I bought my rental property.
From our apartment in the heart of Dupont Circle the access to all the tourist attractions, world famous restaurants, great bars and the biggest selection of privately owned galleries is just steps away. The metro stop is only a block and a half away, next to Starbucks. The 14 Street buses run directly downtown from our bus station at the end of the block; every two minutes during rush hour and every six minutes other times. The White house, The Mall and The Smithsonian Museums are less than a mile away; about fifteen minute walk or few metro stops.
We went to Washington to view history, and that we did. The apartment is very close to a subway stop, and is well suited for two adults. It was cozy and had all we needed to make our stay comfortable. The location was excellent, close to many eateries and a Trader Joes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Spent 5 nights in the apartment the last week of September. The apartment was well appointed and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. Just two adults in our party so we had plenty of space. We did hear some walking around noise above and in the hallway but never a problem. The exhaust fan in the bathroom is very loud. I wondered if the people upstairs could hear it? We drove and Eva obtained a visitor parking pass ($40) for us that allowed street parking. Parking is at a premium in the neighborhood. We were fortunate to get a space right in front of the apartment and did not move our car for the duration of our visit.
The location is terrific. There are numerous restaurants, bars and shops on 14th St. Ted's Bulletin for brunch and the roof top of Mesa 14 were our favorites. Lots of foot traffic, mostly young people, on 14th St. at night. Felt very safe walking the streets. Metro station was a two block walk and took you to the National Mall in about 10 minutes. Would definitely stay here again.
I really cannot say enough great thing about the location. I decided to take my wife to D.C. to celebrate her birthday over the weekend. Upon our arrival paring was a bit difficult (as it always is in D.C.), but it we soon found a spot and proceeded into the condo. My wife was very happy as the condo, it was both cozy and well decorated with all the necessities for a weekend getaway for two. Being surrounded by local restaurants and bars made it nice too as we both like to go out on the town. As far as I am concerned, this is one of the best deals in town.
This apartment was such a nice home base for our trip to DC! We felt right at home with the entire set up. Love love love it!
My husband, son and I stayed here in July 2016 and were very happy with our choice. Eva is a very responsive host and it appears the whole building is hers. It is a quaint old building, completely renovated in a modern way that is inviting. The location is EXCELLENT, though I wouldn't describe it as "Dupont Circle," I'd call it "U Street Neighborhood." The area is attractive to young people and there is so much dining and shopping. It's a very vibrant scene in the evenings, and there is so much do do and see within walking distance. We took the Carpe DC walking food tour of the area in the beginning of our stay, and it was really cool. We saw the local famous spots and tried food we wouldn't have tried--all just out the door of the apartment. The metro stop took us about 10 minutes to walk to. There is a Trader Joe's, Room and Board and West Elm about 1 minute walk away. But the stars are all the restaurants in the area.
Unless you are a realtor or use VRBO a lot, you may be unfamiliar with how to use a key lock box. In that case, ask Eva for specific directions on how to open it. We fumbled with it for a long time in the rain. While you are at it, clarify which key opens which lock, there are two. This information becomes very valuable when you are standing in the rain or extreme heat with suitcases in hand. Also, you will have to carry your suitcases up the stairs at the entrance, then another flight to get to the apartment--so this might not be a good spot to stay if you travel heavy and can't carry a load or are unsteady.
Eva provides a washer and dryer, which is very nice to have. Be careful of the area rug just inside the door--it doesn't have a rubber mat under it (or didn't at the time we were there) and we all went flying. I did submit feedback to Eva.
Overall a great stay and we would stay there again on future trips.
My husband and 2 grand daughters used this apartment for nine days while we saw all the sights of Washington DC. It was exactly what we expected after reading listing and reviews. We felt safe in the neighborhood filled with locals walking, running and socializing. Many great restaurants were just a few steps away. Also it was great to have Trader Joes just a few steps away. Location was away from tourists ( a nice break) but was a quick bus or Metro ride to all DC attractions. Apartment was clean with a small but nice kitchen. We really appreciated the cold filtered water in the fridge when we arrived.. Bed was comfortable and kids didn't complain about using the sofa bed. We did hear noise from above walking around, but not a huge bother. Everything was a tight fit, but worked well for us. It was a much better stay than in a hotel. We would stay there again..
