Enjoy the luxury of outdoor living in serenity and seclusion, in this amazing compound boasting multiple living areas for multiple activities.
Unique. In a category of it's own; Casa Velas is nestled on a 7.5 acre property, with over 200 meters (675 linear feet) of beach frontage, at the most private sector of Playa Grande’s four mile long beach, within Las Baulas National Marine Park. This spacious compound is just steps from the water’s edge and offers views of the beach and spectacular sunsets from virtually every vantage point.
The very large swimming pool (where you can actually swim laps and children can actually play), is only steps from the beach and conveniently located between the Tiki bar, the main house and the guest house - all surrounded by beautiful gardens planted with palm trees, fruit trees and flowers that attract monkeys, exotic birds , iguanas and many other sorts of wildlife from the park .
With three master suites and two regular bedrooms (all with adjacent bathrooms, air conditioning and TV), a fully equipped ocean view kitchen, three dinning areas and indoor and outdoor living areas, Casa Velas is the ideal vacation home for groups of one or more families.
The Villa is designed in a way that integrates the different activity areas yet allowing for space and privacy among its guests.
If you plan your trip between October and March you will have the privilege of witnessing the majestic Leatherback Turtles nesting , sometimes right in front of the main house.
Daily housekeeping , gardener and 24 hour security are provided ; our amazing private chef is also available at your request - all contributing to give you the experience of fun , play , relaxation and pampering that defines Costa Rican living.
A five minute walk will take you to the estuary that separates pristine Playa Grande from Tamarindo - where you will find an abundance of restaurants , shops and nightlife. A panga will take you across for a small fee.
The luxury of open space, space and more space to generate a delicious sense of freedom.

Why Owner chose Palm Beach Estates
My husband inherited the property from his family. Initially there was absolutely nothing so we would go camping. It was fantastic. Casa Velas was one of the first constructions in Playa Grande. When the first house was built, regulations did not require that there be a setback from the public area, so it was built as close to the beach as possible. We later opened up the house to to keep the feeling of outdoor living that we love so much. We have traveled around the world and have not yet found a place quite like our beautiful Playa Grande.
What makes this Villa unique
No other house in the area is as close to the ocean as Casa Velas. We do not walk to the beach. We can be in the comfort of the villa and be steps from the ocean. The large swimming pool, also steps from the ocean, has the compound wrapped around it - very convenient to watch over the younger guests. The luxury of great open space to generate a delicious sense of freedom.

Wonderful days at Casa Velas
We just spent a memorable 14 days at Casa Velas with our family, three sons and their wives, and five grandchildren ranging in age from 11 to 5 months. The house was perfect for our needs, with lots of space to spread out, and the pool was perfect for the age of the children.
Ana cooked dinners for us and we ate like kings. She and Felipe were so helpful and friendly, and he also got groceries for us, and arranged surfing lessons and an outing to the estuary, which we all loved.
The beach was great for all ages for surfing, boogie boarding, building sand castles and just swimming. We saw a late hatch of leatherback turtles, and also a hatch of olive Ridley turtles, which was fascinating especially for the children. A howler monkey troupe visited the garden and stayed a while, giving us a good look at the babies, and making us laugh with their antics.
All in all, we loved it and will return as soon as we can.
It's always beautiful to read about the wonderful times our guests enjoy at Casa Velas. Thanks for sharing your experience. Will look forward to have you back. All the best! Ana C.
Great location loved outdoor living space.
We had a large group and the property was perfect, especially since it had a lot of outdoor hanging out space. The surf out back door was perfect for our beginner/ immediate surfers. We had Ana cook for us which was so relaxing and the food was good. The house is not fancy but just what you need. Playa Grande is quiet and the people are friendly. Highly recommend.
This was a real home away from home
At first I was nervous driving down the dirt road and was worried what we were getting in to Cass Velas was researched and approved by my daughters. Pool-sitting area- beach. Well the biggest and best surprise was Ana. Ana is an angel who cooked lunch and dinner 4 days for us. Every meal was better than the next. I wished I had learned how to make yucca and plantains. My grandchildren adored her and her cooking. The house allowed everyone their own air conditioned space. We were entertained by a family of iguanas and what else would you expect. The beach was beautiful. One day we had surfing lessons on our beach. It was a surprise at how much fun we had. Any activity you would like can be set up through Felipe. We walked to tamarindo a short walk and dollar boat ride over estuary. There we saw a mo key family swinging through the trees. I could go on but.. it was a memorable time for my family of 13. Thankyou.
We loved our stay.
The pictures reflected the place well and it was even closer to the beach than we had expected. The rooms were great. We got Ana to make us dinner and it was delicious. It was easy to communicate with Ana about our stay. We did a tour through Ariel at Playa Grande and it was INCREDIBLE and we’ll worth the day away from our paradise on the beach. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for more during our stay.
Amazing time in Costa Rica!
The property is a fantastic piece of paradise on a beautiful stretch of beach! The owner is terrific and accessible, along with those who work closely with her to make sure your vacation is the best!
Okay house with nice outside property
HOUSE: Inside of house we would rate 3. Typical run down beach house. Lighting horrible, beds hard, glass broken in window and mirror. Sometimes dirt and debris fell from ceilings. Few nights had termites swarming inside (but it is swarming season). Crabs came up drains and scurried around house (thought was cool). Plenty of fridge and freezer space. Pool towels not restocked. Ana swept and made beds every morning. Not all doors locked well so wooden rods used to secure sliding doors. Did have security system. AC only in bedrooms. Plenty of cookware. We did not use outside pool house because smelt moldy. Wi-Fi held strong.
OUTSIDE: Would rate 5. Directly on beach, plenty of chairs and tables. Nice atmosphere and private. Not place to snorkel. Careful of drift wood. Luis raked and swept everyday. We didn't try grill. Did have problem with people walking down beach trying to sell us bird whistles. Dogs often visited, but all friendly. Two would join us for runs in morning down beach.
TAXI: Runs every day 7am-3pm but not always on time. Just walk down beach to catch. Watch tides-high tide makes difficult to get back to house. Ask price before loading-supposed to be $1 per person but price not always honored.
TAMARINDO:Tourist trap that has lost a lot of Costa Rican culture. Expensive food and shops. Seems like most coastal towns in area are following suite-Playa de Coco has become overpriced in just 4 years too. You will find cheaper food and more culture more towards rainforest. Were able to book decent fishing charter from this port.
RESTAURANTS and STORES: Plenty of restaurants around house. Recommend El Huerto and La Pachanga. Wilmarts are expensive so drive towards Tamarindo for groceries.
BOOKING: Owner doesn't use VRBO to book property-uses paypal instead which complicated booking a lot. She also passes along paypal "fees". She does check in with you upon arrival.
OTHER: Owner refers a concierge service to book activities-did not use since had own vehicle. Ana and Luis only speak Spanish so be prepared in order to communicate. Use Waze over google maps or Garmin to navigate.
