We built our Authentic Log Home in 2008. 3/2 Split plan with master bedroom and bath on one side of home, and 2 bedrooms and bath on the other side, open kitchen and living area. There is over 1500 Square feet of living area. . The mountain views are magnificent you can see all the way to Kentucky. Every time we go to the cabin we are in awe of the beauty of the mountains. There are deer, turkey and so much more wild life to see. Trails for hiking and just taking in the views. From sitting on the front porch to relaxing on the back deck you will never get tired of the mountains or the scenery. On those cool nights sit and enjoy the fire pit in the back yard and you are so close to the stars. The Fall is my favorite time just to look out over all the beautiful colors of the leaves. Winter is also nice just to sit by the fire place inside or outside, you may even get some snow.
And lets not forget the town of Monterey, it looks small but has so many shops for your looking pleasure,, trains, restaurants.
You may feel far away but you are so close to so many things you won't be able to take it all in.
Muddy Pond is a great location for homemade ice cream, or stop by the local bakery for home made breads or cinnamon rolls(seasonal) ( I can never get enough).95 Miles to Nashville, 30 minutes to Crossville for the worlds most golf courses, 30 minutes to Cookeville for restaurants and shopping. 2 Hours to Dollywood. 2 Hours to White water rafting at NOC outdoors, The Pigeon river. There are many Antique shops. Dale Hollow Lake is 45 minutes north also Sunset Marina. Hundreds of miles of 4 wheeler trails. There is a stream at the bottom of our mountain and miles of trails for hiking. Burgess State Park water falls and hiking trails 45 minutes in Sparta. There is so much to do and so much to see. You will want to come back.
That special vacation or get away is waiting in the Cumberland plateau for you to relax and enjoy.

We live in Florida but our heart is in Tennessee where the mountains meet the sky. What more can you ask for.
Grace Carnley purchased this chateau / country house in 2008
We built this true log home because it was a dream to live where we can see the mountains. Imagine seeing all the way to Kentucky. The views are spectacular and never getting tired of the beauty. ATV trails and no gated community with restrictions. You are so relaxed you won't want to go home. The small towns close by and so much to do and not enough time to do it in.
Fire pit in back yard to just sit and relax and watch the stars at night. Riding 4 wheelers through the trails and creeks. And meeting some of the local people. We are close to golfing, shopping and restaurants. 1 hour 15 minutes to Dollywood. Dale Hollow lake is 45 minutes away and there is horseback riding in Clarkrange or Cookeville. And of course you have to go to Muddy Pond for the Bakery and the General Store.Burgess State Park water falls and hiking trails 45 minutes in Sparta. No neighbors and no restrictions.
We have stayed at your cabin 3 times and every time we find new things that we didn't see before. The home is very spacious. We do a lot of site seeing and antiquing and love the area. I have seen so many turkey and deer and take a walk to the creek every time we visit. Thanks you again
My Husband and I stayed here while visiting family in Hilham (near Livingston). We knew it would be a drive but the pictures were so beautiful. If you are driving to Livingston on Cub Mtn from the cabin, beware- the road is crazy with lots of switch backs and steep incline! It was fun anyway!
This cabin was perfectly stocked and clean. The pictures are exactly what the cabin looks like. The owner was easy to deal with and everything they described was what we found. The beds are comfortable, the decoration is rustic and not junky in any way, the ac works perfectly well as did all appliances. They have a good TV for the evenings and plenty of good DVD's if you just want to chill. The WiFi works well.
During our stay, we drove to Ocoee River to White Water Raft. This was a repeat experience and we loved it!
I did not see one single bug or mouse- except the ones I let fly in accidentally. This is a beautiful property and had more than enough room for the two of us. I had my parents come over one night and we cooked out on the deck. There is a nice porch in front and back with rocking chairs for watching storms roll in and sunsets.
We had a lovely time and would love to visit again next year.
Thank you so much, Carnley's , for allowing us all to share your beautiful place! You are model VRBO's!
T & S
Just stayed three nights in this cabin. It is so beautiful inside and out! The cabin is decorated beautifully and the views were so pretty. It's pretty secluded and GPS and cell service weren't working well, but the cabin had Wifi and home phone so we were never out of touch (unless we wanted to be). Would definitely come back. Also, the cabin was spotless and had everything we could possibly need!
If you are looking to stay at a gorgeous log home in a secluded location with a great view, this is the place for you. The home was exactly like the pictures posted on VRBO and was very clean. Everything we needed was provided. The only thing you need to bring is your personal items, clothes and food. I did appreciate that I was able to use the washer and dryer, as we had some rain every day. While here we visited Burgess Falls State Park, Fall Creek Falls State Park, and Cummins
Falls State Park. (All state parks in TN are free) If you want to see beautiful waterfalls, check them out. We also spent a day in Nashville and went to the Grand Ole Opry (about 2 hrs away). We would stay here again and definitely recommend it to others.
Beautiful home, secluded setting, quiet, peaceful and remarkably clean. This home is in the Cumberland mountains but not built on the edge of a cliff, so expect beauty around you but it's not the type of cabin that you will experience vertigo.
A beautiful cabin in a serene location. There is so much to see and do in the area you could easily spend over a week looking at God's nature. Then come home, sit on the front porch and just relax! Clean, well taken care of home, very comfortable. Highly recommend.
We had a very nice time in Tennessee. The cabin was inviting and we were happy to have a place to call home at the end of each day of sightseeing, antiquing, hiking etc! Thank you Grace and family!
