The Adobe House is happily situated at the headquarters of the Babacomari Ranch, an historic Spanish Land Grant privately owned by the Brophy family for the past eighty years. A nearby family dwelling offers a secure and welcoming setting. As a working cattle ranch, livestock roam the beautiful countryside, and horses at the barn offer their noses for a friendly petting.
The House comfortably sleeps six in the Queen, King, and Twin bedrooms. There are two full bathrooms, and for larger parties a Queen sofa sleeper, and two roll-away beds will increase the accommodations to sleep ten. Satellite TV and WiFi will keep you plugged in if you choose. And a courtyard patio, lawn and garden, gas grill and portable fire-pit make for good leisure time outside.
The Babacomari Creek runs through the property with a lush riparian habitat that is home to abundant wildlife and provides excellent bird watching. There is also seasonal fishing in the pond or Babacomari Creek, and miles of mountain biking & hiking trails. Horseback riding is available with a local outfitter, or you may bring your horses with you and lodge them for an additional fee.
Chosen for its landscape beauty, the Babacomari Ranch has been the film-site for several movies such as Tombstone, Oklahoma, and Red River.
The nearby Elgin/Sonoita communities are home to award winning Wineries, shops, and restaurants. A little further down the road Patagonia also offers eclectic art galleries, shops and eateries. Tucson is 60 miles to the North. Nogales, AZ + Sonora, Mexico is 45 miles to the West. Sierra Vista, world renowned Ramsey Canyon (bird watching), and Ft. Huachuca is 35 miles to the East. Beyond you’ll find Bisbee, formerly home of the Copper Queen Mine, now a “bohemian” artists’ colony, and Tombstone, with it's window to the old wild, wild west.

This house and it's setting could not have been more perfect for my family. The house is large, and very comfortable inside and out, with beautiful views of the mountains all around. The ranch has been a set for many movies, including Oklahoma and Tombstone. Once you see the ranch, you can certainly understand why. There's natural beauty all around, with very few man made structures for miles and miles. We saw antelope, deer, jack rabbits, javelina, and wild birds on the ranch.
We loved the seclusion. The house is about 6 miles off the main road, and the only other people we saw while on this huge working ranch were Joe and Ellen, the owner/operators, and a couple of ranch workers - all extremely helpful and friendly. We had several very pleasant, enjoyable conversations with Joe and Ellen - they are obviously extremely proud of the family ranch and were very happy to provide advice and suggestions.
We took several walks of various lengths on the ranch. Joe and Ellen encouraged us to roam wherever we wished, and pointed out the paths to take. We walked along the lush creek bottom and green fields nearby (full of deer and javelina in the evenings), then another day took the longer 4 mile loop up through the rolling hills.
We enjoyed wine tastings at the local wineries in Elgin and Sonoita. We visited Sierra Vista, Bisbee, Tombstone, the Apache Stronghold, Kartchner Caverns, the San Pedro River, the Saguaro National Park and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden).
Two very big thumbs up!!
Could not have been more pleased with our stay. The ranch is spectacular, the managers are friendly, accommodating in every way and very engaging people---fun to be around.
The house is clean, comfortable and very well appointed---has everything you will need. Highly recommend this charming, historic venue for a long weekend or week's long stay.
We!ll be back in the future!!
Great time at the ranch. Perfect setting for quite walks with the dog in the morning, a nearby excursion during the day(on or off the ranch) and a afternoon visit to a local winery and a quite evening at home at the ranch. Ellen and Jo who work the day to day business of the ranch where very gracious hosts and most helpful. Plenty of space in the house for our guests who came and went during our two week stay.
My family had a great time staying at this property, in fact, we already want to go back. It is bigger than we expected and it comfortably slept 10 adults. Bridget was amazing to deal with and even accommodated us renting the UFC fight one night. We loved how secluded it was and all the wildlife you see on the property. The home came well stocked with plenty of towels, dishes, blankets, etc. We highly recommend this place!!!
My family of 12 recently stayed for 4 days to celebrate our mothers 70th birthday. as there were 6 kids we were able to put all the kids in the 2nd living space and they all had a bed with roll-aways, couches and 2 mattresses on the floor. They all really enjoyed having their own space to watch tv, play games or just hang out. The house is fantastic and the owner was very welcoming and accommodating. The area is beautiful with plenty to do without going into town or to other locations. We hiked, went riding on the atv we brought, and fished in the ponds (everyone caught a fish). You will find everything you need if you rent this house as they have even provided some playing cards and games. It was a wonderful experience and we all plan on coming back again!
Wine tasting at 8 nearby vineyard/wineries within 4-10 miles.
