Great house with super fun decor

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 3 others greatly enjoyed staying here in the Marginy! The location was great for bicycling around the city. The house itself was very clean, with high ceilings, wood floors, and super fun and funky decor that we loved. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

The Best Place to Stay in New Orleans!

  • 5 of 5

Wow!!! My wife and I stayed here for four nights and I can easily say this is the best place we have ever stayed in N.O. We have stayed at "boutique" hotels, upscale hotels, and everywhere in between, but we will definitely try to stay at this house in the future. The house: An immaculate shotgun style home decorated with beautiful artwork and amazing antique furniture throughout. Beautiful hardwood floors and high ceilings plus cold air condition made it comfortable to return to after a day of tourist walking. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook or just chill. There's also a neat backyard to relax for an afternoon drink or morning coffee. The house is furnished with a washer and dryer that was very handy. It is definitely bigger than the pics show! The location: A cool neighborhood where people are very friendly. Literally 2 blocks to Frenchmen St and about a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter. Another bonus: Only one block to the bus route! We bought a 3 day bus pass for a couple of dollars that covers the bus and the streetcar lines. We got to any destination in N.O. in minutes, although our favorite area is Frenchmen St. We got to enjoy all the live music venues without the noise at home. We would definitely recommend this rental for anyone/group looking to enhance their experience in New Orleans!

Very Convenient Location

  • 4 of 5

This property was conveniently located to all the tourist areas of New Orleans. The house is exactly as described, 2 bedroom shotgun style with 2 double beds. Parking was right outside the house on the street and we never hard trouble finding a parking space. We walked to the New Orleans Food Co-op in 10 minutes to pick up some groceries and a fun restaurant is across the street, picture food truck style in one large air conditioned building. Highly recommend a visit there. A drug store is also a short walk away. The kitchen has all the basics and the washer and dryer was very handy, we appreciated having laundry detergent available for use. The house is very quiet, while you could hear noise from the living room, the bedrooms were very quiet. The updates for the property I would suggest is to invest in more plates and bowls for use in the kitchen, and buy new pillows, the ones you have are old, stained and ready for replacement.

Unique property, probably wouldn't pick it again

  • 3 of 5

I took my family to NOLA for a little work and family vacation. The property manager was very friendly and available for via text messaging, which was handy.

The property itself was in pretty good shape. There were a few missing door knobs and creaky floors, which I just chalk up to being a vintage charmer. There were also things like parts of the ceiling that aren't painted fully and extremely low water pressure, which was less charming. My kids (age 4 and 6) were afraid of the decorations. They had lots of masks and legs, which creeped them out. I think it goes pretty well for the city though.

It's a pretty easy walk to the French Quarter (which is where a lot of tourist stuff is). Maybe 10 minutes and 5 minutes to Frenchmen street.

They had extra air mattresses if you need more beds but there were 4 towels total, which was enough but we went to the beach one day, so that ended up being hard for showers the next day. Also the existing beds are double beds, so it's pretty tight for two people.

There is no dishwasher, but there is a clothes washing machine and dryer.

The biggest two issues for me were:

a) the neighborhood is not real safe at night. I talked to people from there and they recommended not going anywhere on foot. I like things quieter, so I would probably target the garden district or warehouse district next time. On this trip I also stayed at and liked the Hampton inn across from the convention center quite a lot, which I was not expecting to like at all.

b) I was severely allergic to something in there, most likely it was dust although the house was clean. Could also be dogs though I saw no signs of that. I would ask if you have allergies.

Owner's Response: Ok. Never had any of these issues before I have a 3 and 7 year old. We enjoy the eclectic decor. Never been scared. Never heard anyone not like this location. Almost everywhere is somewhat unsafe at night right now. Other districts have the same issues. Beach? In Nola? We also have allergies. Never had issues either. Regina keeps it very clean. Listing states the beds are double. Check out every other 200 year old home in Nola. They're all in similar shape. 200 year old house will have some issues; although missing doorknob is news to me. Unless you're referring to the pocket doors and the kitchen door that swings. Straight up, strange.

Comfortable and Charming shotgun.

  • 4 of 5

We spent the week in New Orleans for French Quarter Fest, arriving Monday, 4/4 through 4/11, to get oriented, and see some of the local sites, and then spend four days listening to all the music New Orleans has to offer.

The location of the house on Marigny was very convenient for forays into the French Quarter, and quiet when we were there to sleep, bathe, or sometimes eat, though in reality we mostly ate out at restaurants, cafés, or food vendors at the various music venues around the Quarter.

The missing fifth star is only a few minor quibbles, otherwise this rental would be a perfect five! It should only be a missing fraction of a star really...

The quibbles?

OK. It looks like there was a dishwasher. There's not. There probably could be again. It would be nice, but was not a big issue, since we mostly ate out. (It's New Orleans after all!)

The water supplies to the washer are switched, so hot is cold, and cold is hot. It could be a problem if you're washing delicates or wool. It didn't hurt any of our clothing, and having a washer was a great thing! An easy fix to switch them.

And lastly, the wireless modem is at the back of the house on the back porch, so the signal is weak at the front. A booster would fix that, I think.

Regina was very responsive, and cordial upon our arrival. She's a great property manager for the owners!

I work with several, and appreciate good communication and her excellent attitude.

Thank you Regina

And Thank you Samantha Lejeune for a first class rental!

Great Home Close to Everything

This was a great house and had everything we needed. 4 min walk to Frenchman and 15 to French Quarter! I would definitely stay here since it's on a quiet street. It was very easy to check in and out too!
