French dynamic woman, in my mid 60s, having travelled a lot in the world for personal and professional reasons, i acquired this property after having fallen in love with the area and the charm of the region.
“It's my life, I love this place”.
I love this place because the Mill is surrounded by stunning nature that allows every person to escape from daily stress and reconnect with nature. Close to Paris and not far from the most important monuments of France (Castles – Versailles, St Germain en Laye, Rambouillet...), Visitors have the pleasure not only relaxing but visiting Historical spots where the greatest Kings of France chose to stay. The area has a wide choice of fantastic restaurants that are present in the famous “Michelin” guide. All friends and family have always shared with me their impressions and have come to the same statement that the Mill is a magical place that has no other place alike, which makes it a unique experience that i invite you to live.
Our hosts spared no effort to make us welcome and comfortable. The old mill is a fairy tale setting and we made good use of the massive fireplace on cold days. Each bedroom was very grand and we enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies of the mill - where the sound of running water surrounds you.
We loved staying at the Moulin de la Planche! We were personally welcomed and had a frige full of drinks, wine, and cheeses. We were tired after our long journey, so having fresh baguettes, sauce and pasta available was wonderful. We loved the town of Septeuil, and went almost every day for fresh croissants and bread. The Carrefour had everything we needed to cook lovely meals. The train station was only 15 minutes away, making our trips into Paris easy. The location was also great for driving to Versailles, Giverny, and the Normandy coast.
We loved sitting at the table on the terrace. On the first night it was chilly, so we made a fire in the giant fireplace. We had plenty of wood provided.
The setting was beautiful, and the house was like a fairytale chateau. We would highly recommend staying here to anyone!
The house is old and comes with all the quaint features you would expect. The owners are wonderful and couldn't be more helpful. We took our 87 year old grandma and she coped well with the steps and cobbles. Our children thought the house was magical with all the hidden nooks. The location is convenient for Paris and many other sights. The local town was within walking distance and the locals were all very friendly. The patisserie was amazing! We had a wonderful family break here and would absolutely love to return!
I'm not sure where to start... I rented the Moulin de la Planche for the month of June this year. It was an absolute dream. The pictures, while great, do not come close to expressing the sheer beauty and scale of the Mill. As each of my friends arrived, one by one jaws dropped and they were transported into a French movie - far away from day to day lives and the bustle of getting through Paris traffic.
The location near Septeuil was perfect. A walking path leads to the town and after a short fifteen minute walk we were at the local boulangerie-patisserie each morning to pick up fresh croissants and traditional baguettes. Septeuil is not a tourist destination, and we loved the opportunity to meet the local shopkeepers and feel like a part of the community for a month. The location is also only a fifteen to twenty minute drive to Mantes La Jolie where we jumped on the fast train (33 min) to Paris. We spent many days in Paris, returning in the afternoon to pick up fresh produce for dinner. Though, even with Paris so close - it was at times difficult to leave the Mill and it's serene beauty. It was always a challenge trying to decide where to set up for lunch and dinner: at the wonderful long teak dining table, the outside patio, alongside the river or so many other incredible places with views of the Mill or water.
The Moulin de la Planche really does transport you away and into another world, I can't recommend it highly enough, or thank the owner enough for her incredible hospitality and warmth. Amazing, amazing, amazing!
An ideal setting for a familial experience in the French countryside with the uniqueness of the proximity of Paris, Versailles, Euro Disney & the Chateaux region. The home was exceptionally suited & ideally furnished for a large family with plenty of room to wander but yet warm, friendly & comfortable. The views from every window of the house, from the forest surrounding or the river that practically ran through it, was truly magical. And the town of Septeuil & nearby towns were so warm & accommodating. They made us feel at home. We will definitely return.
