About the property

4 BD, 3BA, (Sleeps 10) with Paddle boards, Kayaks, Canoe, and Sailboat

Sandy Pines, with its own private waterfront, dock, and swimming pool, offers a peaceful retreat within the quiet natural beauty of the Chesapeake Bay region. The very private home, sited on broad navigable Harris Creek, enjoys stunning sunset views across the Chesapeake tributary, and is fully-equipped and furnished for a restful family vacation.

We provide two SUP ATX standup paddle boards, two kayaks, one canoe, and a Sunfish sailboat unlike any other rental in this area!

Sandy Pines features four bedrooms and three full bathrooms. One of the bedrooms and baths is in a separate wing of the house, so that families can offer guests or relatives some privacy. Two families can comfortably share the home with comfort. The home features a screened-in porch, a renovated kitchen, a spacious dining room with water views, a living room, and a stunning high volume Bay room with views across Harris Creek. A piano makes for an added musical treat at the shore!

The home is on 3 acres tucked against a quiet cove, which allows for great kayaking, canoeing, sailing, fishing, and crabbing. A pine grove along the shoreline is a shady retreat with hammocks and furnishings to watch sunsets. The dock, with 2 ft MLW, offers pilings for tying up a small boat.

The shoreline allows for finding sea treasures and setting up a beach chair for reading and enjoying the water on Harris Creek. Your mornings will be filled with the sounds of waterfowl, and you will observe the bounty of Chesapeake wildlife during your stay. Heron, swan, and eagles all visit the area with regularity.

Sandy Pines is less than a two-hours from Washington, D.C. and three hours from Philadelphia and is located in the village of Bozman, five miles from St. Michaels, Maryland. You can walk 5 minutes to the fishing village of Neavitt, which has a playground, park, post office, and deep water boat launch. St. Michaels, Maryland and nearby Oxford, Easton, and Tilghman Island offer great cultural attractions, museums, antiques, artisans to make your stay complete.

About The Owner

We rented and then purchased this beautiful home and cherish it as a place to gather, and to be refreshed and renewed! This continues a tradition for this property. We offer this treasured place for family vacations, and 50% of our families are returning vacationers.

The Owner purchased this house in 2012

Why The Owner chose Chesapeake Bay

We loved the quiet peaceful feeling of the property, the natural beauty, and its proximity to town (St Michaels). Our two young children love the pool, outdoor area, and experiencing the creek. It's a great setting for enjoying the water in your favorite way: crabbing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, etc.

What makes this house unique

A feeling that you have been away from the metropolitan area, that you breathe fresh air, see so many stars at night, and slip out onto the water whenever you choose!

Third trip here!

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time staying at Sandy Pines. Each visit has been different re:weather and each time we still love it here! This trip we had some warm sunny days and some chillier overcast days, but there is so much to do here. The hot days are perfect for this pool. Cooler days we took advantage of the bikes and all the kayaks/canoe. Rainy day was perfect to sit on the screened in porch and play games and read. It's a very comfortable house that truly feels welcoming and like home. The layout is perfect for large families or for multiple families to share. The provision of sheets and towels this time around really was a nice benefit that we appreciated. Can't wait to come back again next year!

Super place!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time vacationing here with our children and grandkids. It is a fabulous place to be. Loved being on the water so we could kayak, water board and fish. Something for everyone. We also enjoyed swimming and relaxing around the pool. The house is wonderful and was spacious enough for all of us to sleep comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped which was a real plus as we ate all of our meals there. The big dining room table was quite large and accommodated all of us. All in all if you want a great vacation on the water, this is the place to go. You won't be disappointed. Hopefully we can return again in the near future.

Great Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend at Sandy Pines. The house had everything we needed for a quick weekend trip and the owners were extremely accommodating to our requests. Only complaint was the weather which didn't allow us to enjoy all that the house had to offer. Would definitely love to come back during better weather!

This Is The Place to Relax Comfortably

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of women here to celebrate a birthday. We wanted to hang out, relax, eat, drink, and sleep and were pleased with our choice to stay at Sandy Pines. The view is gorgeous and we were blessed with a warm fall weekend where we were able to sit by the water and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine for the evening sunset. The hammocks were great for an afternoon nap. The screened porch seats plenty and we enjoyed sitting there with a blanket in the evening. It is a nice, shaded, private lot. I am sure the pool is wonderful in the summer and the mature trees provide lots of shade.

We did not use the bikes but they looked like they would be good enough to check out the neighborhood streets, but probably not any distance riding. I believe there were 2 adult bikes and at least 2 children's bikes. If you want to ride into town, I would bring your own bikes. We used the owners kayaks/canoe along with our own blow up kayaks and had a nice tour on the water. We also went for nice walks and the wide shoulders provided us a safe place to walk on the local roads. An afternoon of checking out the shops in St Michael's was also fun.

The kitchen is laid out somewhat awkwardly, but worked fine and is stocked with just about everything you need. Plenty of pots/pans, dishes, utensils, dish towels, glassware & wine glasses, and serving plates & bowls. Only thing clearly lacking are containers for stowing leftovers. Overall, if you are putting together a meal for a large group, you will be happy with the kitchen supplies.

The beds are comfortable, with all of the bedrooms roomy with space to stow your gear. Two of the bathrooms have been renovated and were a nice surprise. Being a fan of an outdoor shower, that would be a nice addition for summer stays.

Cell service is in and out, as mentioned by others, but the wifi worked fine. We found the dryer seemed to take long to dry a load, but we advised the owner the vent may be clogged, so hopefully that would solve the problem.

The owner was a pleasure to deal with from initial questions to booking and always responded promptly. I would definitely recommend this place to others and our group was already inventing excuses to come back another year.

Wonderful Get-Away for Family's Summer Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed in Sandy Pines for a week in August, and we were thrilled with the house and property. Plenty of space in the house, well-stocked kitchen for cooking meals at home, pleasant screened-in porch for naps, and a great pool for cooling off and tiring out the kids. We really enjoyed the privacy of the lot, and the views from the hammocks and dock - it was so peaceful in the morning to watch the crab boats work their pots while we drank our coffee and read the paper, and the sunsets were brilliant. We didn't use the bikes, St. Michaels was further away than we thought, but that didn't prevent us from driving in every day to get ice cream from Justine's. There are plenty of restaurants and activities within 20 - 30 minutes, and we found Graul's to be a good (though expensive) source for groceries. We caught over a dozen crabs off the dock, using the tried and true chicken-neck-on-a-string method, as well as the crab trap stored in the pool shed. The kids enjoyed kayaking, though they chose not to SUP due to the number of jellyfish in the water. We expected a lot more mosquitoes, but never had to use our bug spray. One of our favorite memories is lying on the dock at night looking up at the stars and the Perseids meteor shower - with so little light pollution the experience was breathtaking. This home made our vacation a great experience we won't soon forget.

Perfect family vacation. Three generations

  • 5 of 5

I brought my sons, their wives,my three grandsons and my sister. Nine in all. The house was so accommodating and the pool, boats, and dock for fishing and crabbing offered such fun activities for all that it was hard to get anyone to leave the property. I let the manager know I was unhappy with the condition of the pots and pans and by mid-week a new set arrived. What a wonderful time indeed'
