Extremely disappointed!

I was advised by the owner that this property was clean but "dated." The property was clean, but "outdated" was more the case and poorly maintained. The furniture and appliances were from the 40's or earlier. Light fixtures did not work, water faucets were faulty, blinds were falling apart. There is a reason there are no interior pictures of this property. Owner said we should have advised her of our issues at the time of our arrival and they would have been addressed; however, these items could not be addressed in the time we spent there (3 nights). Also, returning our money at the time of our arrival would not have helped since we were traveling with pets. It would have been extremely difficult to find someplace else at the last minute. Best advise - STAY AWAY!

Owner's Response: This tenant, like the only other tenant who has written a poor review, did not contact me until over a week after check out when I received an email from her. She did not call me even though she had my phone number. She stated in her email that, "it is people like you who give Homeaway a bad name." I was shocked to receive her email as she had communicated with me via email several times while she was staying at the house and she never mentioned that she was dissatisfied with anything. When I received her email post check out I kindly asked her to clarify specifically what was wrong (which light bulbs, which blinds and specifically what was wrong with the faucets) so that we could fix any problems. She replied that she wanted her money back but did not give me any specifics about what was broken/not working. I called the tenants who were at the house at that time and asked them if they were having any problems with light bulbs, blinds or faucets and they said no. I am baffled by this review and by how angry this tenant came across in her email to me. If people are unhappy (and she is only the 2nd tenant in years of renting who was) with the house, we are more than willing to assist them with other arrangements and will return their money. In addition, my brother is local and can come to the house to address any concerns (i.e. light bulbs needing to be changed). I am very sorry this tenant was so unhappy.

Cabana Point

We spent 3 glorious weeks at Cabana Point. If you are looking for a cookie cutter condo in a concrete jungle, this is not the place for you. Cabana Point is a unique, eclectic older style Florida home that hasn't changed much from the 50's. From it's original terrazzo floors to the Frigidaire Flair stove, Cabana Point is quirky and funky, however, the owners have provided enough modern amenities to make your stay comfortable (central air, extra stove burners, microwave, flat screen TV, laundry and WIFI). The star of the show, of course, is the view. Sitting directly on the South Fork of the St. Lucie River the boat traffic consisted of everything from standup paddleboards and rowing shells to mega yachts and everything in between. The bird watching was great and we saw fish and dolphins everyday. The house is minutes from downtown Stuart, located just off busy Kanner Highway. It was a 25 minute ride to Hutchinson Island and the beautiful Jensen Beach area. There are many excellent restaurants and shops in very close proximity, however, you may find it hard to tear yourself away from the porch on Cabana Point. The owners were very responsive to any questions. My calls were answered or returned promptly. Would rent again in a heartbeat!

we stayed there mid May 20 were very disappointed

the property was very outdated , dirty & rundown. it was spacious & was on the water,but nothing had been done in the inside for many years. it was embarrassing to bring the family there,we had everyone there for a wedding. we contacted the owner and sent her a lengthy letter with photos when we returned home. her only response was, we should have told her when we were there. the stove only had 2 burners that worked,it was from the 50's. the kitchen ware was from yard sales at best. most of the bulbs did not work in the many mismatched lamps, the furniture was not in good repair, and dirty. the pool did not work the entire week.the sweeper that was there,was so full, we had to replace the bag to use it. one toilet leaked the entire time,one we had no use of at all.the screened in porch had no working lighting. it is very apparent why there are few interior photos. the closets were jammed full of stained mattresses and bedding and pictures. some of the sliding doors were off track.I guess what really disappointed us the most is after sending the lengthy letter & photos showing our concerns for future renters,she did nothing to make it right. that is a week we can not do over. the garage that is there, we were not given a key,either. we would just like others to know what to expect.apparently, after 6 weeks ago of contacting the owner,apparently she doesn't care. I wish I could post my photos and letter. best of luck. look elsewhere.

Owner's Response: As you can see by the calendar the house stays booked for most of the year and we have never, not once, had anyone complain about their stay. This is a first for us. I feel very bad that this tenant was so dissatisfied with and upset about their stay. Even though we had several telephone conversations prior to their check-in, they did not contact me at all about their concerns until several weeks after their check-out when I received a 3 page letter from them. There is nothing that I can do about their concerns after the fact. Had we known that they were so dissatisfied when they checked in we could have made other arrangements for them. I had no idea they had any issues. I feel that their statements are a misrepresentation of the home. The toilets, pool and porch light work. Three of the four stove burners work and there is an additional two burner electric stove plate at the home. The home and some of the furniture IS dated, as I mention to potential tenants and as our rental rates indicate, but everything is clean and in good repair. I am always available to tenants by phone and the co-owner lives in the neighborhood and is available on-site. Again, I am very sorry that these tenants were so unhappy with their stay, I wish I had known so I could have done something about it. Lara Morrison

wonderful getaway with beautiful view

My husband and I stayed here for an extended weekend get away. The house was very large and comfortable, the view of the water and nature preserve was beautiful, and the house/porch/yard was very private. We saw birds, fish and dolphin right in front of the house! We hope to come back again with the whole family.

No regrets. Will Return

I recently was fortunate to have rented the home on Cabanna Pointe Circle . The location was perfect for my family. It is close to downtown Stuart and has easy access to I -95 . The waterway is pristine and full of wild life. Fishing off the dock was enjoyed by all . The home's space is generous and well laid out for privacy. I might add that the owners were helpful .

Great Place on the Water

Very spacious and Relaxing.. Great screened porch ... Great boat dockage... comfortable rooms, older but very clean and comfortable. Location is near many local restaurants and stores. Has it all and not to far from the inlet. We had a Great Fishing Trip .. will be back.
