We are a busy family of five who love the mountains. We spend most of our free time during the winter months at the cabin! We enjoy the winter sports but plan to start spending time riding bicycles throughout the Black Hills to really take in the natural beauty of the area.
Cindy purchased this cabin in 2009
We decided to purchase a cabin in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota which allows us to use the cabin, when we have time, and share it with friends and family. We enjoy renting it and hearing how it was 'perfect' for someone else's vacation! We put a lot of work into the cabin, remodeling after we purchased it. There is a 'cabin book' with before and after pictures we happily share. Our book also allows visitors to see from where people have traveled to vacation in the Black Hills of South Dakota and stay at Pinecone Cabin! We have had people from all over the United States as well as some International travelers!
We love the quiet mountain atmosphere. We enjoy cool mornings sitting in front of the fireplace with a cup of coffee! Going for a walk, catching a glimpse of deer passing through the development and listening to the wind go through the pine trees is heavenly. Being at the cabin is a true vacation!
What a fantastic place to stay! What we enjoyed about this wonderful rental is the location and accommodations. The cabin was close enough to Lead/Deadwood and Terry Peak for us to participate in local activities, and yet situated in quiet neighborhood that allowed for our privacy. The home is furnished beautifully, clean, and ready for anyone to have a great getaway experience. We had an awesome time and we're making plans now for another weekend!
We enjoyed our week stay at the Pine Cone Cabin. We had 3 generations staying together, accommodating 80 year old grandparents, and 8 year old twins. We have relatives in the Sturgis area so it was easy to visit them and also do the tourist stuff near Custer State Park. The week we visited was very hot, Rapid City was 95 degrees, but we stayed cool in the 6500 ft. elevation. My only complaints are running out of toilet paper on the last day (uncool), a very slow coffee pot, and some traffic noise from the road in front of the cabin. It's private enough, but it is not secluded, its in a resort neighborhood. It was not excessive or annoying but just know that cars and ATV do travel on the road. Overall it is a very nice place, functional and affordable, and located high in the mountains. We enjoyed our time.
We enjoyed coming back to a cabin after a long day of driving, site seeing and exploring. It beats returning to a lodge or hotel. We also enjoyed walking around the quiet dirt roads and finding Pokémon at night. The cabin beds were comfortable and there was plenty of supplies for the kitchen and bathrooms. It was also convenient to have a reasonably sized grocery mart just 10-15 minutes away. Our only complaint was the lighting. The bedrooms and living room are too dark and the kitchen table area is way to bright to comfortably enjoy dinner and after dinner conversations.
Cindy was very helpful ahead of our trip and gave us many suggestions to look into. Thank you for your help, Cindy.
Very comfortable and charming place to stay. My family had a wonderful stay here.
We all loved your wonderful retreat in the mountains! It is beautifully decorated & very clean. We really appreciated the well stocked kitchen! There are other wonderful amenites - washer/dryer, bbq, 2 bathrooms. It was such a peaceful spot for all of us to end our day after exploring the area. What a lovely setting in the mountains!
Good location. Great accommodations. Beautiful cabin. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We were very happy when we arrived. Everything looked just like the photos or better. We were pleased to find extra items in the kitchen, flour, sugar, etc. The cabin was clean, well decorated, and the perfect size for our family of 6.
Close to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse! Minutes from the historic Deadwood!
