|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Built by a reknowned artist in the early 1960's, this 3 bedroom/2 bath home is filled with light from every direction - skylights above, walls of windows, and a view that stretches from the ocean to the mountains highlighted by the 'Hollywood' sign and Griffith Observatory. The view is truly incredible and iconic! Perfect for relaxing or entertaining, the open floor plan is intended to enjoy the California lifestyle and climate.
The entrance is paved in polished terrazo and punctuated on one side by a classic 60's flagstone rock fireplace that extends from the dark wood floors to the pitched post and beam ceiling. Across the 'great room' are glass sliding doors that lead to a 400 square foot wood deck with glass railings that overlook Sunset Blvd, the Hollywood sign, and Griffith Observatory. The living room is tastefully decorated with mid-century antiques and eclectic treasures, ample seating, a large screen TV, and a study perfect for reading or game playing (with a Double sized sofa bed for overnight guests).
The newly remodeled gourmet kitchen has every modern amenity, walnut custom cabinetry, stainless steel appliances including a Viking stove and Caesar stone counter tops. The dining area is surrounded by windows of foliage and views, comfortably seating 8. Off the kitchen, there is an additional side deck, BBQ, outdoor sitting area, and playhouse in the midst of mature growth and a large yucca tree.
The master suite was recently remodeled with a modern master bathroom and walk-in closet. The extra large soaking tub comfortably fits two adults with a large picture window to the Hollywood mountains and infamous sign. The room is spacious and airy, peaceful and open, with windows lining the east side of the pitched high ceiling. This is truly a suite for serenity away from the rest of the world.
The second bedroom has a twin-sized bunk bed plus a futon, ample space and plenty of stuffed animals. It is directly across from the hall bathroom (and laundry room) that was also recently remodeled with a deep soaking tub and custom bamboo cabinetry all in a modern, clean style.
The Guest Room is located off the Great Room with a Queen sized bed and large sitting area, comfortable situated on the opposite side of the house as the Master Suite and second bedroom.
The main deck off of the living room is 400 square feet of ipe wood with glass railings to capture the view from every angle inside and out. Facing west above the treeline, the Griffith Observatory and Hollywood sign are clear and visible reminders of this unique location. Sunset Boulevard below is a line of twinkling lights at night, and on a clear day, a sliver of blue ocean can be seen from Santa Monica beach to the south while the San Gabriel mountains are topped snowy white by winter to the north.
There is a small garden set amidst native succulents and cactus and located to the left of the garage (garage is not available to renters). And there are stairs from the side deck that lead down to the gated yard below.
Located in the hills of Silverlake, it is an easy 5 minute walk downhill to the Sunset Junction area, Sunset Blvd. boutiques, restaurants, Tuesday and Saturday morning Farmer's Market. Very conveniently located to all of Los Angeles, the beaches are a quick 30 minute drive away via freeways with the 101, 5, and 10 Fwy easily accessed.
Bookings of one week or less will be accepted three months in advance.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005
We loved staying at this family oriented home - the location and interiors are perfect for a Silverlake getaway. The owners are very helpful and provided suggestions for dining, shopping and activities
to keep our toddler occupied. The master bedroom is dreamy (read: I never wanted to leave the giant soaker tub) and the views from the deck transport you to the Med. My son is still pinning for the trampoline! I would highly recommend this house it beats any hotel we've stayed at in LA and the neighborhood is safe and convenient.
Just arrived home from a wonderful month in this super house. We will so miss our time in LA and our stay in this lovely house. We enjoyed everything about it. We arrived in the dark and thought the sight of the twinkling lights of the city below us from our windows were fantastic enough, but waking up to the sight of the Hollywood sign and the Observatory took our breath away. We even enjoyed our food shopping trips to Gelson's and Trader Joes. Everything is so convenient here, all the usual LA tourist spots, places to eat and shop (great shopping Malls). Wish we stayed longer. Felt like home from home. So want to come back next year. You wont be disappointed!
We enjoyed this luxurious, yet relaxed home for our trip to LA. Sunsets on the deck, that was one of my favorite things. My daughter's favorite thing, not doubt, the toys!
I rented this house for my family, who were visiting me in Los Angeles for a week. Everyone absolutely loved it, and we all hope the house is available next year so we can rent it again! Not only are the views stunning (seriously one of the best views I've ever seen in Los Angeles-- totally panoramic, amazing sunsets every night, just perfect) but the house itself is very open and inviting. The kitchen blends with the dining room which blends with the kitchen, with high ceilings and tons of light. very nice mid-century design throughout. the master bedroom is particularly beautiful and well-designed, with an enormous bathtub that my niece and nephew (6 and 3 years old) were able to swim in like it was a pool. this is a great place for kids, as there are plenty of toys and games available to keep them occupied. Silverlake is definitely the best neighborhood in Los Angeles, and this house is pure Silverlake. Dealing with the homeowners was extremely smooth, friendly, and easy. I recommend this place very highly. I've rented a lot of places through VRBO over the years, in many places in the country, and this place is definitely the best one I've found. Thanks again!
We stayed in this house for two weeks and it was an absolute pleasure. The open floor plan and big dining table were perfect for our group of 7 and we loved hanging out on the decks. The owners are very helpful and easy to contact. The house is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need and the location is perfect- an easy walk to Millie's for the best brunch on earth! And for us- a group of bruised and battered dancers- the bathtub was a dream. If we return to LA for another gig or I bring my family the next time--we will be calling to rent this again!
My family of 8 use the house for a long weekend while attending our daughter;s graduation. It was a nice break from the downtown scene. The deck is awesome with views of the city and the Hollywood sign. Bedrooms were a nice size, as were the other living areas.
Amy was very helpful and kept in touch to be sure our stay was comfortable. Although we didn't have young kids with us, the yard and deck would be perfect for them...lots of toys!
Silverlake area is a fun area. Recommend Speranza for Italian food.
we had the most incredible 2 week stay at this rental! this home has breathtaking views, every desired amenity and the owners we beyond awesome - in constant communication to make sure that we were happy. the home is clean, gorgeous and kid friendly. we aren't sure who loved this property more - my husband, myself or our 16 month old son.
