Marvellous self-contained ground floor apartment in beautiful surroundings in quiet hamlet
The Ruthig family are very friendly and hospitable owners of the property who live above the apartment. Given the language barrier, we all did very well and understood each other most of the time! - and lead to some interesting conversations!
The apartment is very spacious, well equipped, clean but surprisingly for us there is no dishwasher but this might be normal in holiday lets in Germany. Everything else and more was there and all to a high standard.
Because we live in the north of England, we travelled overnight on the ferry from Hull to Zeebruge. Off the boat by 9am, it was only 259 miles to Prosterath (all toll-free motorway virtually including the Brussels ring-road) and we arrived at 15.00 hours after lunching off the motorway in Spa in Belgium not far from the Belgian border with Germany.
The apartment is situated on the side of a hill in a beautifully maintained garden with plenty of seating (and tables) arranged in different places to enjoy the views of the distant hills.
The whole area is a nature reserve presumably equivalent to our National Parks and is a very wooded area with lots of forests and valleys. Cycle ways (radwegs) and footpaths everywhere. Trittenheim on the Moselle with vineyards and wine shops only 20 minutes drive away. This is an area few English people visit (we only saw four English vehicles during the fortnight we were there and they were in the more touristic Moselle valley. It is a very interesting area and the German people we met are very accommodating.
Plenty of shops and small supermarkets locally and prices are good especially beer, wine and spirits.
All in all a good location for a holiday in an area you may not have considered before. We were also lucky in that we had two weeks of sunshine while those at home were less lucky. But then we were close to the Moselle wine growing region and the Romans were not daft!
Wonderful 60th birthday trip
We spent my wonderful 60th birthday trip at this very nice home which was very spacious, clean, and beautiful. The apartment felt very homey and the area is very scenic and peaceful. This place is centrally located to all the places we wanted to go and it made it very easy for us to go and do what we wanted. It is very close (20-30 minutes) to Bernkastel, Trier, and Traben-Trabach. The views from the patio are really pretty and the patio is a wonderful place to sit and have a glass a wine and relax after a day of sight-seeing.
The family is very gracious and welcoming. They made our stay quite enjoyable and we would be more than happy to stay at this residence at any time in the future. I totally hope that we can plan a return trip in the future but hopefully for a longer time period. We were here from 5/20 to 5/27 and loved every minute of our stay.
You do need a car and the closest grocery store is just a few kilometers from the house but we went frequently with no problem at all. It was even quite fun to roam around the Deutsche grocery stores to compare products. We were delighted to find an Aldi's grocery store as that is one of the stores we shop at home.
If you are looking for a wonderful place to stay - this is it. We were a party of 3 and the apartment is really large and has plenty of sleeping areas and could easily sleep 8-10 if you also used the couches provided although there are 3 bedrooms and multiple beds. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a dining table that seats 6. There is a large full size table on the patio for out door eating and they even have a work shed that holds a bar-b-que grill if you want to cook out.
This is a much better place to stay than a generic hotel and you truly get a better vacation experience living in the small village this house is located in. We can't say enough about this very nice family and their very nice vacation rental. Do yourself and you family a favor and be sure and give this place a try. You will not regret it.
Dear Family Thomas,
We are always striving to make our guests' stay pleasant. This beautiful evaluation shows that we are on the right path. My three are also particularly uncomplicated holiday guests. The whole family would be happy to see you again. We then drink a good Mosel wine as a thank you.
Lots of love
A wonderful vacation spot.
This is such a good place to stay we are planning to go back again. It is really great (and unusual) to find somewhere that we want to return to.The owners were particularly helpful and friendly. We were extremely pleased with this accommodation. It is close to Town yet is located in a quiet, secluded and picturesque area with broad sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. If you have children they will love this home as it has so many toys and play areas. The kitchen has everything you would need to prepare a great meal. The home is very large and comfortable. You can park right up to the front door. A lovely well maintained and comfortable house. We want to thank you for putting so much care into your home. Thank you from the Ingle family.
We appreciate the nice review.
We always try to make the guests' stay pleasant. The holiday will be the most beautiful time of the year. We will not forget and look forward to seeing you again. You are very nice holiday guests. All the best and greetings your family Ruthig
(Ruthig) Beuren Prosterath, Hunsrück
Just returned from a wonderful summer holiday in the Hunsrück area, definitely an idyllic location with wonderful views and scenery everywhere.
This is a superb holiday apartment, very well equipped with everything you need. The property was very clean and well maintained – lots of towels and bed-linen provided.
The apartment has great privacy and is very peaceful with your own garden and entrance. Sun loungers are provided so visitors can relax and enjoy the peace and the sunshine.
The garden has a huge trampoline which children will enjoy.
Ursula (the owner) and her family were fantastic to us. They were very welcoming, extremely helpful and friendly all the time. Ursula is a great hostess and really looked after us all the time. The best hostess we ever met!
We will definitely return to Antoniusstraße 6, Beuren Prosterath. We had a fantastic holiday there and the beautiful sunshine was an added bonus.
Our property is located on the edge of Beuren/Prosterath, w/a view of the Erbeskopf, 500m above sea level in the Saar-Hunsrück nature park. It is not far from the Roman city of Trier w/many attractions. Wine tests & Mosel ship tours are popular. Saarburg & the precious gemstone city of Idar Oberstein invite you to visit. The precious gemstone city metropolis & the gemstone street w/gemstone mines & ateliers. Romantic valleys & picturesque heights - the region lives from its contrasts. In the Mosel valley there is a nearly Mediterranean climate, only a few kilometres from the Osburger Hw., you can take in healthy, mountain air. The adventure path Saar-Hunsrück-Steig invites you to go hiking. In the nearby Thalfang you will find an indoor pool, wellness, fitness center, tennis courts, mini golf course. Special fun, the summer toboggan run/Erbeskopf. During the winter you can enjoy the white grandeur in a stunning landscape! Erbeskopf (818m) w/4 descent slopes w/2 lifts & child lift.
Other Activities: Nordic walking
Golf: The Bitburger Land has developed into an independent golf region with three courses. The largest complex of the Bitburg Land is the golf resort Bitburger Land Wißmannsdorf-Hermesdorf near the Bitburg reservoir. The complex is regularly included amount the best golf courses in Germany. The 18 hole championship course is the location for important golf tournaments. Contact:

Contact: Golf Club Bitburg-Baustert e.V., tel: 0 65 27 - 93 49 77, fax: 0 65 27 - 16 67. The golf course of Lietzenhof in Burbach is also very attractive, it is about 20 km north of Bitburg. One of the attractions from this golf course is the combination of the length of the course and the overcoming of altogether 100 m of elevation, which requires a precise game from golfers. The golf course Lietzenhof has an 18 hole course - par 70, SSS 70, a public 6 hole course. It has a large practice area with covered and open tee-offs. Contact: tel. 0049(0)6535/2007.
Ski: Winter sports, the white pleasure. Snow is not guaranteed in our region, but when the white grandeur comes in the winter months, then all of Hunsrück is a winter fairytale. A 15 minute drive from our house is the Erbeskopf, the highest mountain in Rhineland-Palatinate. The local winter sport center is here (descent skiing, sledding run) with snow equipment, ski lift and flood lights. Events like slope festivals with radio RPR and late night slope parties occur here. Rent complete equipment for descents, snowboarding and cross-country skiing. Ski schools. Multiple cross-country trails are connected (different levels of difficulty and lengths). The Hunsrück house with exhibitions about wild-forest-nature is also here. Different activities for all ages are offered here. Outside of the ski season, a summer toboggan run is in operation. Short-term bookings possible, due to the snow conditions.
