We were both born in The Hague in the Netherlands and love travelling. In 1991 we started a trip around the world and fell in love with Bali. We returned several times but after having children mainly had Europe as holiday destination. When we went back to Bali with the family in 2008 we found the perfect place to build our future home in paradise.
The Owner purchased this villa in 2008
When we went back to Bali in 2008, it was a bit of a shock how busy the south was. A lot had changed in 15 years. In Pemuteran we found the relaxed atmosphere that we loved and the conditions that we think will keep this place special for the future. The scenery around the bay is magnificent and for snorkeling and diving it is probably the best spot in Bali. The people are special and the community is very much involved in protecting the area. It is a privilege to be there.
A friend that stayed with us mentioned that the villa is a destination by itself. He felt so relaxed and just liked being there, enjoying the scenery and listening to the waves. The garden is very large compared to most villas in Bali, giving it a sense of space. The style is traditional and there are many large trees, giving the impression that the house belongs there. Add to the experience a friendly staff that takes care of all your needs and a private boat to explore the area, go fishing and watch the sunset. We also have 8 mountainbikes and two kayaks free to use. One of our staffmembers can take you on a tour to visit the area. Take a bikeride to the 3 temples, Kerta Kawat, Melanting and Belantung ( Jungle temple), not far from the villa, and nestled in a beautiful oasis.
I can go on and on, but the truth is simple..... This place had the best views, best property, amazing staff, great accessibility for exploring (super close to the monkey temple and others), and the food was SO good. They also hooked us up with a guide, Made, for snorkeling and other adventures who helped us communicate with the locals and find the best reefs and spots of Pemuteran.
If you want to relax, get spa treatments, dine and enjoy good company... This is the spot. There were four couples staying and we felt there was plenty of space, plenty of everything.
We're all very active but this place sucked us in immediately. We will definitely return to this magical place on the ocean!
We stayed for two weeks in Villa Semadhi and we enjoyed every single moment: the house is beautifully designed and furnished with a great eye and sense for detail. Beside that, it's very comfortable with its large rooms and bathrooms. For example: we enjoyed very much our comfortable outdoor, walled bathroom with an amazing tree and beautiful big plants.
During day- and evening time the garden is the place to be: for every moment of the day you can find several comfortable places to read, meditate or just relax in the shadow of flowering trees, such as the amazing 'frangipani' (Plumeria). Furthermore there's a lovely breakfast/lunch/dinner pavilion in the garden, surrounded by a pond full of fairy tale waterlilies and fishes. We just sat down, had a nice Balinese Bintang beer and waited for the wonderful Balinese 'cuisine' to surprise us! We were absolutely spoiled by the very friendly staff, not only with delicious meals, but also with a bicycle whenever desired and other small attentions.
I should not forget to mention the infinity pool, which is very well placed within this tropical paradise garden: we swam with a lovely view on the ocean at one side and the beautiful house on the other!
As for the surroundings of the villa, they are also worth a close look: we found some interesting temples and even attended a service in one of them. Furthermore there are several beautiful resorts at about 10 min. cycling. We were very welcome to walk around and take a look and pictures and to have a nice lunch or dinner at the beach. Every resort has its own character, so we visited them all! We also found some nice little giftshops and small 'warungs' (little restaurants). At last we made a very special trip to Menjangan Island by boat, where we went snorkling and saw the most amazing fishes and other creatures.
Last but not least we were truly touched by the unbelievable friendliness of the Balinese people: everybody smiles, says 'hello' or even asks where you're from and if you like Bali. Never before we met such friendly and open people!
No surprise: we truly and very enthusiastically recommend this villa and give it five stars!
We were a group of 6 people and greatly enjoyed our time at Villa Semadhi. The Villa is a location for itself - relaxing and soothing. It is easy to spend the days just there - if you do not wish to wonder around. The garden is wonderful and has lots of places that offer privacy and a hide-away. We decided no to go out once for dinner or lunch - because Jero's coooking is so superb.
The staff is very attentive and simply amazing. Thank you Putra, Ketut, Kadek, Komang and Jero for making us feel so welcome ! And thank-you Bernard and Jane for making this such a beautiful place.
Just the most beautiful place I've ever been too! Loved the staff, location, food an the villa itself!! Can't wait to return!
I must say that my stay in Villa Semadhi was like Heaven on Earth. It felt like time had stopped and nature was happy and there was peace in the world. The air was so clear and fresh and everything was beautiful. I loved the bathroom in my suite, it had a live tree inside which was also outside. So pleasant and just nice. I went with four of my friends and we each had our own favourite spot. I loved the little coach on the porch, carved and beautiful where I could rest. My friends loved the apartment above the dining area and they would just sit and watch the ocean. The pool was just right for exercise or just having fun. The staff were incredible and always ready to serve. We had delicious meals out near the ocean or wherever we wanted, cooked to order. A great vacation getaway.
Had an amazing stay at Villa Semadhi with my family, which included 3 teenagers and 2 adults (who behaved like teenagers). The villa itself was beautiful, but what made the stay really memorable were the staff who were nothing less than warm, accommodating and genuinely friendly people.
We had in-villa massages, went white water rafting, snorkeling in the villa's boat, had yoga next to the pool... it was absolute heaven! :)
Best diving and snorkeling in Bali, Jungle tracks, Temple visits, Yoga and Meditation lessons, beautiful scenery, perfect place to relax
