We live in Florida. Dan, having lived in Spain for six years during his studies, is very fluent in Spanish. Jeannie not so much. We work with WEGO Ministries for mission work each year in Nicaragua.
The Owner purchased this villa in 2010
We have been enjoying the people of Nicaragua since 1998, coming on yearly mission trips. A few years ago, a friend who had been visiting all the new resorts in Nicaragua, told us we had to see this unbelievable jewel of a place called Redonda Bay on the Pacific. We went down the next day and were in love. The beauty truly was breathtaking. So we said 'Let's build a house here!' Just completed January 2010. Wait until you see it!
This home is unique to our community as it consists of a compound of buildings. The main building houses the kitchen, living room, dining room and has a patio and deck as well as an infinity pool. The upper building has four guest rooms each with it's own balcony to sit and view the ocean. The master bedroom is in front of the guest building and features a rounded porch with a panaromic view of the ocean.
For your convenience, we can provide you with a driver to make your vacation that much more of a pleasure.
My family and I (there were 10 adults and 3 children) spent 7 great days at Jeannie Hammond's amazing home on Redondo Bay in Nicaragua. The home and accommodations were nothing short of perfect. The view in the morning is a million dollar view of the ocean and hillsides surrounding the bay. Jeannie's staff were really great and we became friends with them all........Francisco is the grounds keeper and kept everything in working condition and helped us with everything we needed. Celina our chef kept us well fed and her food was delicious. Our housekeeper kept us in clean sheets & towels and was very sweet. Jeannie suggested that we use Omar as our driver while in Nicaragua and we used him the entire time we were there, Omar and his staff were very helpful and looked after us wherever they took us. Jeannie is amazing and her house is only surpassed by her assistance in making sure you have a wonderful experience while visiting her home. We are so grateful to Jeannie and her wonderful staff who have become family to us all.
This was the most relaxing vacation we have had in years, the beaches are beautiful, the Nicaraguan people warm and all in all I would recommend this home to anyone wishing to have a great vacation. Thank you very much Jeannie!
The entry to this place is dramatic and the drama follows throughout the house; there is an ocean view from every room in this gorgeous house! I loved sitting poolside watching the most incredible sunsets. Saw howler monkeys, beautiful birds, moths and butterflies. My bed was super comfortable. Each morning, I would open wide my room's french doors then crawl back in bed to wake slowly while drinking in sights and sounds of the ocean. Everything is nice and clean. The kitchen is well stocked. The craftsmanship of the builder is amazing. Most, if not all, of the home's gorgeous furnishings were also crafted by the builder. It's a short (although steep) hike to a beautiful beach that has lawn chairs and hammocks for relaxing in the shade or sun and a beachside bar that sells lovely food and drink. While there, I enjoyed a wonderful massage at the nearby resort. Pick up groceries before your arrival because you will not want to leave this paradise. But if you do venture out, Nicaragua has plenty of beauty and adventure to offer every traveler.
The house and views are incredible. We loved the chef Celina that the owner recommended. The driver she set up was great too, although neither spoke much English. The house had everything we needed, beds were comfortable. There are security guards every 100 yards or so in the community. The Aqua resort next door has a great beach and excellent massages ($69 hr including tax). The house is on a steep hillside (approximately 25 steps down from road) so I wouldn't recommend it for young children, no yard and no fence around the pool. The pool was clean but chilly, monkeys came down and drank from it at one point. The internet worked reasonably well, but not in the bedrooms - only the common area. We chartered a boat to surf since the breaks were too far to walk and we didn't have a car. It seemed expensive at $160 + board rental and they didn't take us very far away and the spots were all accessible by car. The place would have been difficult to find and I read in a blog that if you're involved in an auto accident in Nica that both parties go to jail until it's sorted out, so I don't recommend a rental car, use one of her drivers.
We had a fabulous 3 days in casa la joya located close by to aqua wellness spa and resort. We spent mist of our time in the swimming pool or over at the resort spa getting massages. The cute beach down in the resort was also very beautiful and great to get in the ocean.
We traveled to Bahia Gigante with about 40 of our close friends. We rented 4 of the homes in the area. We felt very lucky to have stayed at La Joya. The others were nice but La Joya was extra special. The decor was very tasteful and the view is spectacular. The house was spotless. The area is family friendly and very safe. It was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had. I can not wait to return...
We had a fantastic time in Nicaragua, thanks to the accommodations & magnificent views at Casa La Joya.
From our poolside perch, we were mesmerized daily, by the breathtaking vista & the sound of the crashing waves against the cliffs below. Upon our arrival, we easily selected our bedrooms because there were water views from every room. We enjoyed breakfast every morning from the west deck and were joined by a variety of birds of which our favorite were the hummingbirds. For several days, in the late afternoon we were thrilled to witness whales, breaching, as they migrated south.
The staff were very helpful; we did not have a car, but the housekeeper arranged for a driver to take us to restaurants & activities.
The beach & Aqua restaurant were within walking distance. We enjoyed seeing the Howler monkeys, the flora & fauna, while following the path down to the restaurant.
We highly recommend Casa La Joya to anyone visiting Centra America.
Yoga area and Spa within community.
