Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cabin in Custer - Whitetail Springs Ranch

Black Hills 3BR/2BA Log Home On 17 Acres. Very Private

Custom Log Home, 2100 sq. ft. home in very private 17 acre meadow completely surrounded by National Forest. Beautiful views with no highways, neighbors or noisy tourists in sight. Near hiking, biking, horse trails, within 1-2 miles from Mickelson Trail, Golf course, fishing lake. Within 10-20 miles of Custer State Park, Needles highway, Mt. Rushmore National Monument, Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, Sylvan Lake, Stockade Lake, Bismark Lake, Legion Lake.

Amenities: 3 bedroom/2 bath, Fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, washer/dryer. Pellet stove and gas fireplace, covered porch with beautiful view and gas BBQ grill. Family room with TV with satellite, DVD and VCR movies, games,

The cabin has direct access to millions of acres of trails and beautiful scenery.

Within 1-2 miles is the Mickelson trail which runs over 100 miles from Deadwood to Edgemont. The Hills most beautiful lakes, Sylvan, Legion, Bismark, and Stockade are all within 6-15 miles for great fishing, swimming or boating. Custer and neighboring Hill City have tons of unique shops and galleries. The local golf course is within 1 mile, or drive to Hot Spring to the golf course voted '#1 9 hole golf course in North America' by Golf Digest.

Of course Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial are within 5-20 minutes. Custer State Park, 6-7 miles east, has one of the largest free roaming Buffalo herds in the world, as well as wild burros, big horn sheep, prairie dogs, deer etc. In October is the Buffalo Roundup with a 2 day Arts Festival. Visitors can watch the actual round-up of the Buffalo. They are sorted and some are sold at the Buffalo Auction later in the fall.

My favorite is the caves-- Wind Cave National Park and Jewel Cave National monument.

Jewel Cave National Monument is 7 miles and Wind Cave National Park is 15 miles and are both world class caves with scenic and spelunking tours.

Bikers --We are located 2 miles outside of Custer and about 75 scenic miles from Sturgis. There is about 3/4 mile of well maintained gravel road from the highway to the cabin. There is a large barn w/concrete floor to store bikes and trailers.

Wonderful Choice

  • 5 of 5

This home has it all, views, wildlife and serenity. It is located close to all activities with easy access. It is tucked away in your own little corner of the Black Hills, yet close enough to all. The home was beautiful with all the comforts of home. Everything was very clean and many amenities were avaliable. The owners really made us feel welcome and at home. We will definately return to the Black Hills and this home will be our first choice for base camp. I would highly recommend this home to my friends and to anyone who just needs and quiet place to relax.

The property was great. Just a couple miles from the great town of Custer, but very remote.

  • 4 of 5

We came to attend the bikers rally in Sturgis, but most of all we wanted to ride around and see all the sights. Plenty of sights to see, including Buffalo just walking down the roads. We attend the rally every 3 or 4 years and would hope to stay at Whitetail again. Very relaxing.

Sights and Sounds of Nature

  • 4 of 5

I prefer to get away from the sights and sounds of civilization when I go on vacation, but my family likes to be close to all the "to do things". This property offers both. The house has beautiful views of the Black Hills with no views of homes or roads. I think I heard about 5 vehicles the entire week and the occasional private plane. It was so beautiful and peaceful. The town of Custer is just a few minutes away though and the property is central to so many of the activities available in the Black Hills. We, as many others have commented, enjoyed the pinball machine in the evenings. The house was clean and nicely decorated and the large deck was a favorite spot.

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful home! Our family of 4 loved this house! The kids couldn't get enough rock climbing and riding the bikes around the property everyday (which was such a nice surprise to find bikes available!). It was a wonderful oasis after busy days of site seeing to return to the house, sit on the porch with a glass of wine, and enjoy the stunning views and sunset while listening to the juke box. We never ate out once (except ice cream) during our visit as everyday we would return to the home for lunch and dinner. Everything was an easy drive from the house since it was centrally located in Custer. The pinball machine was a huge hit too and we enjoyed some friendly family competition each night. Thank you for sharing your home!

Beautiful cabin, in a secluded setting

  • 5 of 5

Overall we had a great time even though we were only able to stay for short two day trip. We found our property manager (Jody) to be extremely helpful and even refunded one of our days that we had to cancel and cut our trip short (thank you again!). There is a lot to do in this area and we would recommend it to anyone. Crazy horse is just down the road and Rushmore is a very short drive away. We visited in the off season so we found that most of the tourist attractions were closed but we did find a great place to eat in Custer called the Buglin' Bull. We also went to Hill City for dinner one night and ate at the Bumpin Buffalo (would not recommend because the quality does not match the price). We found some good hiking in Custer Park and even a little bit around the cabin. Our little Australian Sheppard loved to run around the fields near the cabin and had a blast. The pictures of the cabin do not do it justice and there is even an old school jukebox! We did find in the evenings that we were having trouble getting signal for our DirecTV channels but found much better entertainment out the window watching all of the whitetails chase each other around. Awesome place to stay!

Wonderful Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a 3 day weekend here in February. Loved the cabin and its location! Very private and only a couple miles from Custer. It was well equipped and easy to find things. We will be back!
