You can reach Stocking Island via a ferry from the Peace and Plenty Hotel, located in George Town, or by water taxi. ~~ Boating Activities: The Exuma Cays offer some of the world’s best bone fishing. Bone fish guides can be hired for day trips. Bottom fishing for dinner is also very productive in the surrounding waters and diving for conch is plentiful along the western edge of the island. Boats are available for rent from Minns Water Sports to enjoy a day of boating for an adventure exploring the nearby cays, reefs and beaches.
What is the Island like?: Great Exuma is a relaxed easy living atmosphere not filled with the nightlife and hustle and bustle of commercialized areas, a perfect place to just relax. George Town has several native restaurants, small hotels, straw markets and boutiques. Also located in George Town are grocery stores, liquor stores, a medical clinic and three churches.
Our family first visited Exuma over 20 years ago. My father loved the beauty of the island and especially the warmth of the people, and you will too! He loved the idea of exposing us to another culture. We have made made many great Bahamian friends, especially our caretake Nemiah. You will love him too!
My father chose this property because of its beautiful beach and the unique architecture of the house. There is space, privacy and best of all incredible views from every room in the house.
Living on 400 feet of pristine beach and living among beautiful gardens with native plants. At Seascape you can immerse yourself in island living.
What a wonderful stay Nemiah was an excellent caretaker and checked in on us to see if there was anything we needed. The bedrooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and well appointed. Linens and towels looked new and were very nice. Beds were comfortable (we used only the king and one of the twins) The kitchen has everything you need to make meals. Well stocked with dishes and glassware. The beach is amazing and the house is very private it is well off the road so no road noise some of the units are too close to the road this lot is very large to offer plenty of privacy and no road noise which we loved. We have stayed in units up the beach a bit with too much road noise. I only saw one other family on the beach our entire time there. The outdoor showers are great as are the indoor showers. The pictures of the house do not do it justice the house is much nicer than the pictures shown. The island has very nice people and it is easy to get to. I fly our own plane and we live in Miami so only a 50 min flight but I saw many other major carriers there as well. It was nice to have access to a washer and dryer. The beach chairs are a nice touch. I highly recommend this unit to anyone but you must have a car. I travel frequently and I must say this was a wonderful experience from the booking, to arrival, the entire stay and departure.
This house was exactly as pictured. We loved the layout of a central area with kitchen, dining, and living room. Then the bedrooms were good size pods off the central area. So each of my kids had a huge bedroom, bath and outdoor shower. I don't think anyone used the indoor showers as the outdoor ones were roomy and very clean. We grew up with outdoor showers so we loved this amenity. The kitchen is very well stocked with dishwasher etc, and a new grill which we used almost every night. There were 5 of us and there was tons of room. While in your bedrooms you couldn't hear anyone in the living area.
The beach was breathtaking and SO close. Very easy getting to and from the beach. They also had great beach towels. We swam constantly. Nemiah, the caretaker is a wonderful man who checked on us regularly and made sure we had everything we need. As far as activities...we are boaters and love to fish. Minns Marina in Georgetown is a great spot to get a boat. They have been there forever and know all. Make sure to invest in a real map and not the paper one they give you. We always carry the new Bahamas Yachtsman Guide. The Peace and Plenty is a fun place to go at night. They also have been there forever. A must have is a stop to the conch salad man. Open from 5 to 10 at night. Sam is a great guy and the BEST conch salad going. The guava jam lady is right next to him.
So...all in all I would totally recommend this house to anyone. We are definitely going back.
On a side note...we go to the Bahamas at least once a year. My mom was born there. So we know what the houses are like.
The beautiful pictures of Seascape rental do not even compare to how gorgeous this home actually is. My boyfriend and I spent a week at Seascape for our anniversary and truly had an unforgettable experience. It was absolutely surreal having the crystal blue ocean and white sanded beach in our very own backyard.
We spent some of our days taking advantage of the amazing property by walking along the beach, snorkeling and just relaxing. We also traveled to various other beaches and restaurants that the owner Susan and groundskeeper Nemiah suggested to us. Whenever we had any questions Nemiah was only a phone call away. Everyone else on the island was extremely helpful and kind as well. We never had a problem finding something exciting to do or getting directions to where we wanted to go.
We made sure to go to Stocking Island to swim with the sting rays. The Chat N’ Chill restaurant and bar located on the island had great food and a fun vibe. We also took an incredible boat tour where we were able to swim with the island pigs, see an iguana inhabited beach, and pass multiple magnificent celebrity owned mansions. All the restaurants we went to were great, but one of our favorites was Catch a Fire Bar. This Bar offered incredible food, a live band, and we were also able to sit right on the water and watch the sunset as we enjoyed our meal.
Overall, Susan was extremely helpful and really gave us all the resources we needed to have a remarkable vacation. If it was not for her kindness, suggestions, and her beautiful Seascape rental our trip would have not been the same. We are extremely grateful and will definitely be visiting again!
We stayed at Seascape for a week with our family and friends. It was the most amazing vacation for both adults and kids. The house is perfectly secluded off Queens highway with beautiful vegetation and a long drive leading to the front door. Once you step onto the sprawling decks the turquoise water is revealed and you can't take your eyes off of it. Each bedroom building has its own bathroom and outdoor shower. All four of the buildings have views of the ocean and are angled to take advantage of the prevailing winds.
We spent many days at the house swimming on the most amazing private beach. The sand is as white as snow and the beach is long and perfect for morning walks. The tiki hut served as a perfect place for shade and sipping morning coffee. There were also great day trips to Little Exuma, Stocking Island, and Staniel Key. Boating, snorkeling, diving, and bone fishing Exuma has lots to offer for all ages.
The groundskeeper Nemiah was so welcoming and friendly. He made us feel right at home. We will definitely be returning again.
Seascape is more beautiful than pictures can capture. It sits right in the middle of the most magnificent stretch of beach, about halfway between the airport and Georgetown. It is set back from the road on a long driveway, so the front view is a private tropical garden and the back view is turquoise water of the Caribbean. We never even heard a car, all we heard was the surf all week. At this point on the beach you see open ocean straight ahead, and looking slightly southeast you see Stocking island. If you go further south on the beach you forfeit this open ocean view, you would be looking straight out toward the Island. A little north along the beach, you might hear airport noise and there is some brown rocky areas with algae growth in the water. (we snorkeled the beach) Check the map - this is the BEST spot on the beach. The owner Susan and groundskeeper Nemiah were great to work with. Nemiah even called a few times to say hello and ask if we needed anything.
Inside the complex is a home away from home. The units are all connected by a huge deck with areas between units to sun bathe, grill, eat outdoors, or just sit and gaze at the ocean. We watched the sunrise over the water several times while sipping our coffee on the back deck. There are 4 units- a central unit with kitchen / dining room / living room / laundry - and then 3 separate bedroom units, each with a private full bathroom The kitchen has EVERYTHING you need in it's cabinets and drawers, more pots pans and gadgets than I have at home. We shopped in Georgetown and cooked most of our meals at home. It has all the amenities of home - music, nice big tv, internet... bring your laptop and amazon prime acct and you can watch a movie at night.
We explored the south end of Exuma by car one day, and the north end by scooter the next day. We rented a boat in Georgetown and went snorkeling in Elizabeth Harbor the next day (Elkhorn Reef was amazing), and went out fishing with Mars (a friend of Stevie) the next day. One night we ate at Santana's and looked at their photo album of Johnny Depp hanging around when they were filming Pirates of the Caribbean. (he hung around there in his pirate make-up!)
This vacation was one of our best ever. We covered the island all week and concluded that there's no better place than Seascape. We never got to Major Cay to swim with the pigs, and there are reefs we didn't have time to snorkel - we will just have to do come back next year!
Swimming, snorkeling, boating, deep sea fishing, bone fishing, kayaking.
