About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Library, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Enjoy this modern home in a quiet family neighborhood, just minutes from 7 South shopping and Central Ave., Sam's, Best Buy, St. Vincent's Hospital, just 2 miles away. Oaklawn Racetrack and Casin just 3 miles toward, Historic Downtown Hot Springs just 4 miles away. You will wake to a view of the lake out the living room windows, and enjoy playing in the water (in the Summer) of this quiet cove at the end of this private drive. You can bring your own boat, or use the Party Barge I have, when the lake is up in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Winter views are also lovely and you can jaunt down to the Quapaw Baths or the Buckstaff to soak in the famous hot waters. The home has been outfitted to be comfortable and contemporary with original art work, and antiques mixed with leather furniture. You have a clean and open kitchen to let you enjoy the lake view while cooking an enchanting evening meal. The 46" flat screen and surround sound provide a pleasant movie experience.

You are just minutes away from Lake Ouachita, one of the cleanest lakes in the country, which feeds into Lake Hamilton. An evening cruise up the river will take you to the base of Blakely Dam where the water will feel like it is coming out of a refrigerated fountain.

Hot Springs is noted for its Spas, and I will happily direct you to the best, since I have been privileged to teach some of the best therapists here. We can also arrange for a therapist to work on you in the home.

We look forward to welcoming you!

About Loren Impson

Loren and Janet are your hosts and owners of the property. Having traveled around the world to many countries I'm always happy to come home to Hot Springs. Anything I can do to inform you about the possibilities around here, I will be happy to assist.

Why Loren Impson chose Sunset Bay

I've been looking for the perfect location on the lake in Hot Springs, and when this came available, it was a must have. We love this place and hate to leave it but we will for you! We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. It is SO Close to everything yet peaceful in its own little cove.

What makes this house unique

You are ON THE LAKE. You can go out to dinner by boat at some great restaurants. Yet in just minutes you can be downtown at the Monthly Art Walk. The outside decks are wonderful to enjoy a morning cup looking at the sun lighting up the lake. Where else do you get the loan of a boat with the rental of a house?

Nice contemporary home close to the water

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the house. The upstairs is very open and nicely decorated with modern furniture. It was a great place for our family to gather. The master suite on the first floor was huge. The kingsize bed was comfortable but very squeaky if you moved in the bed.

We were somewhat disappointed with the downstairs accommodations however. The downstairs bathroom was not usable because of the way the sewage drained. So anyone downstairs needed to climb the stairs to use the bathroom at the top of the stairs during the night.

The rooms downstairs were also damp and in the whole house, all the towels smelled moldy. When we washed and dried the towels, we had to double dry the towels to get them dry. Since I've owned front loaders before, I know they are notorious for having problems with odors.

The owner was more than accommodating and took care of any needs or questions we had immediately. If you didn't have to use the downstairs, I would highly recommend the house.

Owner's Response: Interesting that the people who put more people in the home than they pay for will complain about dampness when the 2 AC units suck out the moisture. Not sure where that comes from unless the extra people produced excess moisture from breathing. I noticed there were flies in the house when we went over after they left, maybe they left the doors open and the lake humidity came in. Drying the towels works fine for me, but I don't overload the washer or dryer. When you have 10 people in a 3 bedroom home, you might overload to get things done, but it usually doesn't work very well. The fact that I had to repair the downstairs door where the grandson kicked in the frame when the girls locked him out of their room leads me to think there was a certain lack of discipline. The bathroom downstairs has a pump which pumps up 6 feet, over 20 feet through a 1 inch line. no sewage draining involved. It might also be noted that we only include 2 bathrooms in our listing. This small downstairs bathroom was only added for our personal use but we allow our guests to use it. Remedial situation and conditions apply. Some people make us smile when they come to visit, others when they leave.

Beautiful lake home!

  • 5 of 5

Loren and Pat offer a great bargain on Lake Hamilton. The house or the boat by themselves is worth the daily rent on this house and you get both! The neighborhood is very quiet and getting out onto the lake in the boat is very easy. This is our 4th stay at the house and we have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. We will be back many more times as this has become one of our favorite vacation spots.

A great Spring Break for 2 families!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for Spring Break! It easily slept 7 and is on the water. The house is well kept, stocked with everything you’d expect at a hotel, plus much more. Lorin was a great host! He met us the day we arrived to show us around and answer questions.

The pontoon was a huge selling point for us. The kids had a great time fishing and swimming - even though the water was freezing.

We’d definately stay here again! There was plenty to do in Hot Springs and loved the house.
