About Maureen Betz

We moved from Ohio to Littleton, Co 24 years ago & bought our 1st place in Grand Lake 20 years ago. We have 3 boys: twins that are in their 20's & a teenager. When they were younger they loved to go to the cabin & catch frogs, butterflies, grasshoppers, play on the swingset, enjoy the wildflower or just hang out on one of the big rocks to have a picnic.

Maureen Betz purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Maureen Betz chose Grand Lake

We love the quiet town of Grand Lake we enjoy boating on the 3 large lakes & hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. We often have picnics by one of the lakes & our boys love to just hang outside & see the wildlife.

What makes this cabin unique

Seclusion, privacy & close proximity to town (1mile).

Guestbook comments from the manager

We came with very high expectations & have not been disappointed! Gorgeous cabin in a stunning location - I dont think we have ever been anywhere so relaxing. We went hiking, mountain biking, rented a boat on Grand Lake & went go-karting. Our teenagers liked the ping pong & x-box. We would come back again anytime!

Fabulously Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The view is amazing and the warmth of the home perfect. My hisband and I were celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary with our two children and their children. There is more than enough to enjoy for ages 2-60. We loved the location and enjoyed the beauty of the area between Estes Park and Winter Park. The owner was so delightful to work with. I highly recommend this home!!!

Great family vacation spot with one caveat

  • 4 of 5

We saw lots of wildlife from our deck including moose and mule deer and had an incredible view of the lake. We also enjoyed the family game room tremendously, especially the shuffleboard table. The cabin’s location was convenient to the Rocky Mountain National Park and a couple of very nice hiking trails. The cabin was clean and well-maintained. The only drawback was the owner who mistakenly contacted us during our stay regarding damage done by the previous tenants ( no apology forthcoming once we pointed out her mistake when she finally responded over three hours later through VRBO email, causing us some angst trying to reach her to straighten this out.) She also failed to contact us directly regarding a wildfire less than 2 miles from the cabin, once again communicating through email and our home phone in VA to suggest that we plug in the landline phone so that we will be notified of evacuations. By the time we got this message, we had already spotted the fire and we’re packing just in case. We have stayed in numerous vacation rentals over the years and found the 3-ring binder full of “do’s and “don’t’s” from the owner of this property to be a little cumbersome as well. Not worth the stress considering what we paid for this rental.

Owner's Response: Our guest is correct, I did mistakenly contact them about damage done by a previous guest. As soon as I recognized the mistake I notified them immediately by email. I am not sure why the email I sent did not reach you sooner. Wildfires in the western mountains are a natural occurrence and unfortunately inevitable. However in the twenty five years we have owned a cabin in Grand Lake this was the first wildfire we experienced. Due to the resources in our area the fire was contained within twenty four hours and limited to just twenty acres. The county went door to door for those homes under evacuation to make sure they all were evacuated. Our cabin was two miles from the fire and never in the evacuation area. Nevertheless, as soon as I became aware of the fire I tried to contact the guest at the phone number they provided and left them several voice mail messages and texts. When I was unable to reach them I tried to call the land line phone at the cabin four times. In addition, I emailed them several links for them to check for updates concerning the fire. We provide a lot of detailed information in the information binder so that guests can have an informed, safe and enjoyable vacation experience. We take our guest safety seriously which is why we continue to provide a land line phone to make contact with medical services or receive reverse 911 calls in the event of an emergency such as a wildfire. We also work with our local fire officials to mitigate wildfire dangers around the cabin, clearly mark our property and maintain good access in the event emergency services are necessary.

Super Stay at Secluded Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This was a great relaxing vacation for the whole family. Plenty to do at the cabin and plenty to see and do close by. We saw multiple elk and a moose come close to the cabin. The cabin was very well furnished and allowed us some peace and quiet away from it all! We had a super great time!

What an Amazing Place!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at 7 acres was wonderful. When we got there the cabin was even better than the pictures. It was clean and well stocked. The beds were so comfortable. The children loved the playroom in the loft. The view of the lake and mountains from the cabin was breathtaking. Our children loved the outside play area and creating their own small adventures around the cabin. The wildlife was incredible, we saw elk and moose frequently eating around our cabin. The bird life was great too. We went hiking every day around the area and at Rocky Mountain National Park. We ran out of days - there were still so many places we wanted to go.

The town of Grand Lake was straight out of a book - just beautiful. The restuarants were yummy and the peope were so friendly.

We will definitely be back to 7 acres and the great town of Grand Lake!
