About Tim

Tim Hodkiewicz. I purchased this wonderful kangaroo Lake lakeside property as a combination of personal family use with my three children and to generate a little income to maintain the property. In 2006 the cottage was completely renovated on the inside with new carpet, tile steam sauna and new furniture throughout. The exterior was painted a couple years ago. I always enjoy being on the water boating, sailing, kayaking. This cottage sounds like you are on a boat when you hear the sound of the water lapping the shore.

Tim purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Tim chose Door County

You will not find a cottage closer to the water! You will find the views stunning and the sunsets amazing. This a very peaceful setting, and very close to all the attractions and scenery of Door County!

What makes this cottage unique

You will not find a cottage closer to the water. Sitting on the deck you are almost above the water. The sounds of the water lapping on the shore line sound like you are on a boat.

Great location, everything you need for a great trip

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I spent a weekend here, and it was just perfect. Sitting on the deck watching the sunset was amazing. The cottage is small but very comfortable for a couple, or a family with small kids (2nd bedroom is bunkbeds). Nice kitchen and bathroom, both very clean and updated. The sauna shower is a very nice touch. Great location, everything Door County has to offer is within a 20 minute drive, with tons to do a lot closer than that. Highly recommend this spot!

Not what we expected.

  • 2 of 5

The spot on the lake was good but the quality of the materials provided for cooking were inferior. Maintaining both quality and functional equipment is part of the business and this feature is definitely overlooked with this rental. The ability to cook outdoors is based upon charcoal; a gas grill should be the standard, particularly with this price point.

Owner's Response: The cottage is fully furnished and supplied with cooking supplies. It is NOT advertised to have a barbecue grill. Very few rentals or condos use them due to liability.

Amazing water views!

  • 5 of 5

Spur of the moment trip to Door County has turned into an annual event - thanks to Water's Edge cabin!

The location is perfect - quiet side of Door County but quick drive to anything...swimming in Lake Michigan, shopping in Fish Creek, dinner in Egg Harbor, or golfing. The cabin sits right on the edge of a warm water shallow lake that is great for swimming, kayaking, and floating along peacefully. The porch and bonfire pit are perfect places for a spectacular view.

The cabin is clean and comfortable, on the small side but who cares - you are here for the outdoors! Open those patio doors and sit on the porch for breakfast!! Lots of windows bring in that fresh air and sunshine. Newer furniture and updated kitchen and bath. Fully stocked kitchen for easy meal prep, there is also a grill and picnic tables. The bonfire pit was perfect for evening desserts....s'mores!

We had one rainy afternoon - the TV gets more channels than we get at home. There are movies and books to share too. Plus....a rainy afternoon in this cabin is the perfect time for a nap so you can head out to some theatre or music in the evening.

The cabin is part of "Sunset Shores" which is a large plot of land with 6 cabins that share water access and grassy areas. We met some very fun, interesting people at the nightly bonfires and swimming. However, privacy was never an issue.... you will have plenty of space and a peaceful experience.

I highly recommend a vacation at Water's Edge! Thanks Tim.

Water's Edge Lives Up to Its Name!

  • 5 of 5

We’ve been eagerly returning to Water’s Edge cottage on Kangaroo Lake each summer for about fifteen years. The cottage offers all the comforts of home—beds with sheets, bathroom with large shower, full refrigerator, stove, microwave, eat-in kitchen, and TV—but the best part is the proximity to the lake and spectacular views from living room, kitchen, open back deck, and enclosed side porch! It looks like you’re on a houseboat. You can lie in bed and hear the waves gently lapping at the shore and honking geese flying overhead.

The cottage is comfortable in any weather. You can enjoy morning coffee on the open deck and watch sea gulls and ducks diving into the lake. If the day turns cool or stormy, you can still watch from the living room through the full-length glass doors or from the enclosed porch, which includes a nice high table and stools for the best lake view.

Water’s Edge guests receive full access to all that the resort offers: rowboats, grassy lakeshore, lounge chairs, swimming raft, firewood for campfires in the fire pit, long forks for toasting marshmallows, game room, playground, picnic tables, outdoor grill.

The resort is located on the quiet side of the Door Peninsula, but all the popular activities of the county are close. We enjoy renting bikes, golfing, hiking, and most especially shows by the American Folklore Theatre. There are also lots of great restaurants nearby.

Beautiful place right that lives up to it's name!

Stayed at this place for a weekend getaway with friends in the fall. I loved how looking out at the lake from inside the house always felt like you were right in the middle of it. The water was so calm and peaceful. I hope I get the chance to go back!
