About Sarah Mumford
We have two sons aged 27 and 22 and we have spent many happy weekends and holidays on Eel Pie Island while the children were growing up. It was here that they learnt to row and sail and we as a family became part of the island community enjoying raft races, island BBQs and many a pirate party for our children's birthdays. We are both self employed and Ripple has been a peaceful haven for us where we have shared so many happy memories with friends, neighbors and family. Come and be part of the 'Ripple' experience!
Sarah Mumford purchased this Chalet in 1996
Why Sarah Mumford chose Twickenham Riverside
For 32 years we have lived in west London with a view of the River Thames, and our love of boats and the water led us 21 years ago, to buy 'Ripple', our holiday home on Eel Pie Island, just 20 minutes drive away from where we live. We discovered the island on one of our boating adventures, saw a house for sale, and were captivated by the idea of holidaying in a wooden chalet off shore, in London! We found that crossing the bridge helped transport us to a place of rest and refreshment that was distinctive from our 'mainland' home. Over the years we have kept a variety of boats on our pontoon - sailing, motor, rowing - and have many great memories of boating adventures. Ask our boys how one of our engines came to be on the river bed!!

Magical boat house
We couldn't be more pleased with this property. Truly a hidden gem. The owner went out of her way to make us feel welcomed. The local area was so peaceful, it became the perfect balance with our time in bustling London. Even my colleague from London was impressed with our find when he stopped by for a visit. Overall a magical home.
Wonderful home from home.
Lovely location. Clean and bright space. Unique accommodation. Helpful and considerate owner. Highly recommend.
Wonderful house, fabulous location...
We can't say enough about our stay at Ripple. Sarah was an incredible host, providing everything we could need (from adapters to food for lunch!). She was also kind enough to answer my unending list of questions. Ripple was the perfect retreat at the end of a busy sightseeing day and the best way to start a lazy morning, drinking tea overlooking the Thames. We will look back on our Eel Pie Island time with much love.
So glad you enjoyed your trip. Lovely to have met you all and do come again!
Recommended place to stay!
Had a lovely stay at The Ripple. Sarah’s a thoughtful hostess and our young boys, 4 and 6 years old, didn’t want to leave the boathouse!
Lovely to have met you all and so glad the boys had such a great time!
Lovely house and location
This was the perfect place to spend A few days with our 2 children . Really easy access to London but also peaceful and relaxing location . The house was beautifully presented and had everything we needed .
So glad you all had a great time and the kids enjoyed Island life! Come again!
Extremely nice property on an island in the Thames.
If you are going to London, why not stay on an island in the Thames? The house is comfortable and well equipped. Nice kitchen with modern appliances. Being on the river is cool and you can feel secluded while being right in the middle of Twickenham. Sarah is a friendly and helpful owner and so easy to deal with. Lots of good restaurants and shops in the area and the train station is just a 10 minute walk for easy access to the rest of London.
So glad you discovered all the many lovely places to eat in the vicinity and enjoyed "Island living"!
