Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type house

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Beachwood, is one half of a side by side duplex. (The Inlet is the other side of the duplex and both sides can be rented together VRBO 342944). It offers a reverse plan with two spacious bedrooms each with king bed and full bath downstairs (you can walk out to the back yard from the master bedroom). The main floor features the living room, dining, kitchen and half bath, with inlet views from every room. There is also a large loft above the living room. The house was rebuilt and remodeled in 2010. It has most modern conveniences including a dishwasher and microwave in the kitchen, a flat screen HD television in the living room, heated tile floors in the main bathroom, and several skylights.

Beachwood has striking views of Ucluelet Inlet and Kvarno Island from most rooms (even the bathroom while you're relaxing in the super-deep tub). The bird watching is incredible as the waterfront is a nature preserve. Lots of herons, eagles, osprey, kingfishers, hummingbirds, swans, etc. We often also see seals, sea lions, bears, and salmon in or near the water.

Beachwood is located on the waterfront of Ucluelet Inlet between the town of Ucluelet and Pacific Rim National Park. We are two minutes from the Wild Pacific Trail, 5 minutes from the town of Ucluelet, 10 minutes from Wickanninish Beach and Interpretive Centre and 25 minutes from Tofino.

Make Beachwood your home while you are exploring the West Coast, Pacific Rim National Park and the towns of Tofino and Ucluelet. Whether you are coming to hike, surf, beachcomb, bird watch, whale watch, storm watch or simply to won't be disappointed.

Why Joanna Maltby chose Ucluelet

We fell in love with the West Coast of Vancouver Island in the 90's when we first started coming out to surf and camp. We are addicted to the miles of beaches to explore, the countless waves to ride and the amazing wildlife. We chose to buy here because it is private, quiet, close to town -but not in town and close to the beaches of Pacific Rim National Park.

What makes this house unique

Shortly after we bought the property we began planning a renovation. At that time it was a couple steps up from camping in the luxury department as it was a very old house. In the last 4 years we have rebuilt the home. Now as soon as you enter Beachwood you will be amazed by the jaw dropping view of Ucluelet Inlet and Kvarno Island. The house has hardwood oak floors throughout. We reused much of the old materials in features of the new home. For example, the wood cladding the fireplace is some of the old siding. The decore reflects elements of the West Coast with a sleek modern feel. Artists, designers and nature lovers will fall in love with this amazing place.

Other benefits: The home is family owned. The suites are side by side and are completely private-separate entrnces, driveways, decks etc. The other side of the duplex is owned by my parents. It's a great place for family gatherings. Both sides can be rented together please see vrbo 342944.

Could not have loved it more!

  • 5 of 5

Ucluelet is a magical, beautiful place. Unbelievable beaches, rainforest and the quiet of nature everywhere. The town had everything you could need, and this house is beyond compare. If I could rate it 10 stars I would. The view of the bay from the living room/kitchen area, everything you could need in the kitchen, beautiful deck, all the comforts of home(washer/dryer, etc). The decor in the house is authentic, fun and obviously chosen with care and adds to an already perfect environment. Cozy fireplace, the shower also is over the top amazing, heated floors in the bathroom! The most comfortable beds I’ve slept in anywhere. Extremely responsive owner. In short, the perfect place to enjoy this special part of the world. I hate to leave but no doubt we will be back!

Beautiful waterfront home!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful 3 nights at Beachwood. The place was spotless and well maintained upon arrival. Joanna sent us tons of recommendations and highway closure info before hand. My sons went surfing, they dealt with Relic Surf shop in Ucluelet and the guys there were great! The beds were comfy, kitchen was small but well stocked. The view from the living room and deck was awesome! I would definitely recommend Beachwood and hope to return in the future.

Beautiful home in the middle of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Upon arriving at Beachwood, we noticed landscaping that offers plenty of privacy from the street. Entering the home, our attention was drawn to the wall of windows along the back of the property that gave an unbelievable view of the inlet. Our favorite pastime was watching for eagles. My daughter filmed an eagle diving into the inlet for dinner. We also saw several other types of birds and deer playing in the back yard. The house is furnished with tasteful mid-century modern furniture, vintage surfing posters, local art, a complete kitchen and beautiful bath. Sleep came easily after long hikes and comfortable beds. We loved everything about the duplex (which didn't feel like a duplex). Ucluelet is a magical place. We went on a whale watch with Cameron Ocean Adventures seeing whales, bear, seals, sea lions, and eagles. We hiked several of the beaches and watched the sunset on Wickaninnish Beach. My daughter, granddaughter and I stood on the deck looking at the stars at 1 a.m. one morning. What a treat! Even though we had a picky eater in the group, we did get to experience a few restaurants in the area. Jiggers offers great fish and chips for lunch. My daughter and I enjoyed Salmon Pesto Alfredo at the Cedar Grill. The Floathouse had great food and a fun, casual feel. The Blue Room is a great place for children. Their fish and chips were great. We met some of the most friendly, interesting, helpful people in British Columbia. I would recommend this property and the Ucluelet area for anyone wishing to "unplug and reconnect", to enjoy nature at its best, to enjoy great seafood, and to experience a catch and release aquarium. Can't say enough about our time in BC.

Beautiful setting, gorgeous home, comfortable, easy to relax in. Watched the light come up every morning over the water and the mountains. The quiet was especially welcome. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy such a lovely place.

Wonderfully peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Beachwood was exactly what we were looking for! A quiet beautiful home to spend our holidays, with a peaceful view of the inlet. The home is close to spectacular hikes, a short drive to the surf and lots of space to relax. We’ll be coming back!
