Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Mamin - Treehouse I

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Leave all your worries at home and come enjoy this wonderful tropical cottage. The TREEHOUSE is nestled on a hillside near Anse Chastanet Beach and is a short trip from the old French capital of Soufriere. The TREEHOUSE is a stone and wood cottage on an acre of tropical lushness. It is the perfect place for a honeymoon, relaxing holiday or an extreme adventure vacation. It has one bedroom, one full bath, a fully equipped kitchen, a sparkling plunge pool and a 180' view of the Caribbean Sea that includes the Pitons, St. Vincent, and Anse Chastanet Bay.

Besides providing for all of your needs within the TREEHOUSE, the surrounding area provides unlimited opportunities to truly experience the real St. Lucia. Among the activities are hiking, fishing, diving , snorkeling, mountain biking, kayaking, sailing, mountain climbing, rainforest hike, sunbathing (Anse Chastanet beach is a ten minute walk), botanical gardens, waterfalls, and bird watching (this can be done from the deck of the TREEHOUSE). There is no reason not to have the ULTIMATE TROPICAL EXPERIENCE at the TREEHOUSE.

The small town of Soufriere is only a twenty minute walk from the TREEHOUSE. Many natural places of interest including the Diamond Mineral Falls, Botanical Gardens, Sulphur Springs, the Drive-In Volcano and a few working plantations can all be found in and around Soufriere. In addition, there are grocery stores, bakeries, banks (ATM), a fish market, and numerous restaurants are located here.

Car rentals can be arranged or taxi services are available for drives/tours around the island. A few places to visit include Marigot Bay, Canopy Zip Lines, Rodney Bay/Pigeon Point, Castries and the RainForest.

Why Sam chose St Lucia

The Treehouse is a unique island style cottage that seems to blend in with the natural surroundings and provide a TRUE tropical island experience.

What makes this cottage unique

Piton views, Caribbean views, three nearby beaches with crystal clear water and dark sand beaches, plenty of natural attractions and activities in the area, convenience, comfort and privacy that comes with a private villa, practically everything is provided including a cook.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the Treehouse. The staff was great--without exception. We appreciated the recommendations in the guestbook as it gave us peace of mind. We visited Gee's a couple of times--great food. We rode with Recardo and Moby Dick--both colorful characters and very pleasant. We hope to return to St Lucia someday and will keep the Treehouse in mind.

A Great Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing place to vacation from the view on the treehouse balcony looking at the twin Pitons to the valley just below it. There are hiking trails behind the treehouse as well as a great short hike to the Anse Chastanet Hotel and the beautiful blue water and sandy beach for some sun or just relax and listen to the waves of the ocean right beside the hotel. The water was so amazingly blue and calming. The food at the Anse Chastanet Hotel was wonderful and the service was great. The locals were all very kind and helpful everywere we went. The sightseeing trips were wonderful and informative from the Forest Tours to the trip to the Volcano. The mineral bath will make you feel ten years younger and make you not want to leave. Everywere you go you can stop and pick fresh fruits as well as a grocery store at the heart of the nearby town. The treehouse is just like a home away from home with all the necessary anamities right at your finger tips. The owner checked on us daily to make sure we were comforable and that we were enjoying our stay. You go to sleep with the sound of the crickets and wake up listening to the birds singing. I highly recommend this place for a first time vacation and for sure repeat visits.

Truly a Unique and Fun Experience

  • 5 of 5

Before we reserved the tree house I read most if not all the reviews and I would encourage you to do that also. I don't have too much to add to them as they are all spot on. The Treehouse 1 is a great experience! I will add that everyone that we encountered along the way were awesome, Including Sam, Charmaine, Terry (get some of his coffee beans, outstanding) , both taxi drivers and Kevin the water taxi driver we met and hired that took us on a boat tour from one end of the island to the other on the west side and we saw sights you could never see from land, it was beyond beautiful. it cost ~$350 US per day + tip for sights we will never forget. Thanks to Kevin and Charmaine for the Birthday cakes you baked for Michele!! We hope to go again in Jan, and we are going to give Treehouse 2 a try. The island of St. Lucia in general is so pretty and green, flowers and tropical fruits all over the place, birds galore, and the cats that live in TH 1 are fun too, they were no problem at all. We did the mud baths, and it was fun. Eat at Maries if you can. Thanks to all !!! ALSO BE SURE YOUR PASSPORT IS VALID FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS AFTER YOUR TRIP, OR YOU WILL HAVE TO GET IT RENEWED BEFORE YOU GO.

Perfect honeymooners getaway

  • 5 of 5

From the time Clavie picked us up at the airport to the day we left we had an amazing time! He picked us up and first thing took us to the gas station and bought us our choice of a beverage. Of course we wanted the local Piton beer! From there he took us to get groceries and was very engaged in conversation, answering questions, talking about his darling daughter and overall very friendly! Charmaine was waiting for us with a prepared dinner. She was so accommodating all week and checked on us daily. We stayed at the Treehouse a full week and for the first half arranged for Clavie to drive us. Then we rented a SUV and the rental company delivered it to us which was great! We explored the entire island and got great recommendations from Charmaine and Alvin (I think was his name!) explored the volcano, waterfalls, jungle, Marigot and Rodney Bay, sunset cruise, drinks in Soufreire, trail tours and more! We enjoyed the proximity to Jade and Anse Chastanet and went down there pretty much everyday for gorgeous snorkeling and to hang with Melvin from the bar. The views from The Treehouse were absolutely breathtaking and such a gift to wake up to everyday. The place is very clean and open with tons of fresh air. Having our own personal pool was awesome and so refreshing. We also enjoyed the company of the 4 very friendly and well behaved house cats. They hang out on the patio but if you're annoyed with them just shoo them off the porch. I highly recommend taking the 20 minute hike up the road to get the full view of Soufriere and the Pitons! Take a water bottle!!

Wow!! Loved this place!!

  • 5 of 5

From the beginning, connecting with the owner Sam and all his wonderful help and information right till our stay and beautiful manager Charmaine, we could not have been happier! What a cute, fully equipped Treehouse! Gorgeous open concept, huge airy balcony, and awesome gardens and plunge pool. Oh and the Piton beer :) We had Charmaine cook 3 nights for us and it was delish! Who knew, pizza with corn on it?! Charmaines a great cook and wonderful hostess. She comes by every morning to see to your needs. Miss you Charmaine! We walked everyday to Anse Chastenet or Anse Mamin beach. Great snorkelling, amazing classy beaches. No riffraff. We walked everyday there, took us about 15 mins to Anse Chastenet then another 10 mins to Anse Mamin which we liked even better because less people and more rugged. Snorkelling far better at Anse Chastenet though. Heading back to Treehouse exhausted me because it's uphill. After 3 days I said that's it so we had Clavie the taxi driver pick us up. I have ambulatory issues, my husband had no problems. We also walked into Soufriere a couple times for groceries without a problem, it's a good walk but again I got a taxi back cause uphill (worse hill then coming back from beach). The view from Treehouse is impeccable, we loved our stay! We never used the AC, it was perfect temp at night just using fan and only the odd mosquito. Stay here!

True Island Experience!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came to get away from the winter up north. We got more than we expected. The Treehouse, as well as the entire area around Soufriere, is very natural. It is not some man-made destination of buildings, pools, and staff dressed in costumes like you find in resorts. On our vacations we usually make plans to go on some action packed adventure every day, and go home in need of another vacation to rest. We had these plans for St. Lucia, as well, because there is so much to do on the island. However, the view of the Pitons from the back porch, the cool breezes, the plants on the property, and our own pool gave us such a wonderful relaxing feeling that we stayed right there most of the week. We had one day full of touristy activities which we enjoyed, but the peace of the porch and the quiet beaches are what we enjoyed the most. Anse Chastenet and Anse Mamin beaches nearby are fabulous!..few people even in the busy season, palm trees, breezes, black sand along with the great food and drink from the beachside restaurant and bar. You can hardly see the resort buildings, so they do not take away from the natural feel of these beaches. We would walk downhill to the beach and schedule Clavie to pick us up after a few hours. With Clavie there is no need for a rental car which would not be a relaxing way to get around the island. We had Charmaine cook dinner for us all but one night. We told her to cook whatever she would eat at home, and her meals never disappointed! She was very helpful in helping us planning and booking our activities. The whole experience here won't disappoint!!

Best Stay on the Island

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have been coming to St. Lucia for a number of years. Like many visitors, we first stayed in a few hotels in the Soufriere. Then we explored and stayed in other parts of the island, such as a few of the more touristy areas--Marigot, Castries, etc. After gaining a lot of experience traveling around the island, we can easily say that staying in the Soufriere area, and in particular one of the Treehouses (I or II) is bar far the best. Why? First off, the Soufriere area is the real St. Lucia, not the propped up tourist version. This is where you can have the real St. Lucian adventure, from exploring the rainforest, to taking in the Pitons, to enjoying all of the local cuisine, to snorkeling in the reef, to exploring the arts, to enjoying the really unique coastline. This area is certainly the playground for outdoor adventures, the best of the island culture, and the real natural beauty of the island. And the best thing: the people who live in the area are some of the most wonderful people you'll meet anywhere on the planet. We feel especially lucky to have made so many special friends in this area over the years.

Now, on to the Treehouse. We've spent many nights in both the Treehouse I and Treehouse II. We love them both. These two properties have some of the most appealing features of any properties we've stayed in or seen on the island. They are the perfect size for a couple, have great views, and they are so open to the natural environment that you really get to immerse yourself in a unique living experience. We like Treehouse I a lot because it is so cozy. We always feel that we have plenty of privacy but whenever we stay here we also have so many friends who stop by. This really is a highlight of our visits. Charmaine, the manager, is a real St. Lucian gem. We love her cooking so much that whenever we are away we think about it all the time. She always goes the extra mile to make sure we are well taken care of. You don't get hospitality like this at the resorts. No way. We've been to many of them and they simply don't compare. Alvin and John who help take care of the property and keep the lush garden thriving are great resources.

We especially love the location of the Treehouse. We always have a vehicle so getting around is not a problem for us. If you know where to go, you can find some of the best snorkeling on the island just a little down the way.

This place is a real gem.
