Overview

About the property

Beautiful 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath townhome Sleeps 4-6 Not suitable for small children

Top ten reasons to choose our home for your trip to the north shore of Lake Superior

10. Within 10 miles of 3 of Minnesota's most popular state parks

9. Everyone loves it - check out our reviews!

8. Walk to several excellent local restaurants

7. Sunrises over the lake with coffee on the deck

6. Oh so comfortable beds and pillows, play hard, sleep well!

5. Whirlpool tub for two (most Windsong units only have a tub for one)

4. Pool and Sauna building and picnic area right across the driveway.

3. Front door parking, no trudging through the parking lot with suitcases.

2. Quiet town home community, not a busy, noisy resort.

1. Location! Closer to the lake than most Windsong rentals.

This is our home away from home, not a corporate rental, and when we're not there, it is our pleasure to share it with fellow north shore lovers. Every piece of furniture and art was hand selected to provide a beautiful and oh so comfortable home to return to after a hard day at play on the north shore. A dramatic two story wall of windows facing the lake let's you enjoy the sights and sounds of this incredible body of water, it's mesmerizing.

Windsong is a small lakeside town home community, not a resort. Enjoy the amenities of an upscale resort without the noise and crowds. Indoor Heated pool, (open between Memorial Day and New Year's Day), a year around sauna, charcoal grill, picnic tables and fire pit are across the driveway.

The Gitchi-Gami State Trail is at the top of Windsong Drive, walk or ride bikes to Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls. Palisade Head and Tettegouche State Park are a few miles up 61. A spur trail from Cove Point offers access to the Superior Hiking Trail, hike for miles through forests, along ridges, rivers, waterfalls and lakes. What an amazing place in every season, come explore by day and relax in style and comfort at night.

Winter guests enjoy miles and miles of nearby cross country and snowmobile trails. The midwest's best downhill skiing is just 40 minutes away at Lutsen. Gooseberry Falls park and Split Rock both have beautiful, groomed cross country ski trails, we use them to snowshoe too. There's nothing like spending time on foot, skis or snowshoes in the woods in winter. It's good for your body, mind and soul.

Walk to nearby restaurants: Northern Lights, Lemon Wolf Cafe, Cove Point Lodge, Camp 61 and Crossings Bar & Grille and The Big Dipper Ice cream shop which are open seasonally. You'll love how conveniently located our home is, come play!

About Jo

We live in the Twin Cities so Minnesota is home but there's NO place pn earth like the north shore. We've been coming here for over 25 years, we even chose to get married on the top of Moose Mountain in Lutsen. Of course, we love the North Shore any time of year but much to our surprise, Winter is our favorite! We are snowshoers and we find that we are often the only ones on the trails, we LOVE the solitude! We snowshoe the same Superior Hiking Trails that we hike in other seasons and we marvel at how the view changes when the foliage is gone. It's incredibly beautiful and peaceful, we hope you'll try it on one of your visits. You can rent snowshoes at Beaver Bay Sports 2 miles away if you don't have your own.

Jo purchased this townhome in 2005

Why Jo chose Minnesota

Beaver Bay is easy to get to from the Twin Cities and it's a beautiful drive. Of course the view of Lake Superior was a huge draw for us, it's hard to believe it's a lake! Listening to the waves hit the rocks, watching the sun come up over the lake, stargazing over a pitch black lake, it's a soul refreshing place.

What makes this townhome unique

Our home is such a wonderful retreat, when we step inside, the weight of the world lifts off of our shoulders. We really enjoy the proximity to so many incredible State Parks. Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock and Tettegouche are all within 10 miles. The Superior Hiking Trail and state park trails take you through forests, along rivers, past waterfalls, to inland lakes and along Lake Superior. If you prefer a stroll or bike ride to a hike, you can walk or bike ride for miles along the shore on the Gitchi-Gami State Trail at the top of Windsong Drive. Golfers, enjoy Lutsen's Superior National Golf course 27 holes of spectacular golf just 40 minutes away. The best downhill sking and snowboarding in the Midwest is also 40 minutes away at Lutsen Mountains. We never get tired of this place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Jo and Bob, Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We have had a very nice two days here - using your home as our "base camp" while we enjoyed the North Shore's attractions. My family from Australia have been here with us and were "wowed" by the beauty of the area, and by your lovely accommodations! We have been extremely lucky with weather - the lake has been so calm almost glass like, which we have never seen before. Blue skies too...just perfect! Thank you again.

Beautiful views of Lake Superior and stellar property that feels like home!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Beaver Bay was wonderful - perfect for my wife, parents, and me. All our needs were more than exceeded at this wonderfully furnished home. While we explored the north shore, it was so nice to return to our home base with great amenities. We were able to relax in the pool and hot tub, watch movies, and cook and enjoy meals in this well setup and cared for home. We highly recommend staying if you're visiting the great north shore!

Owner's Response: Thank you Jim. We furnished the home to be our second home, not a rental property, so we spared no expense in furnishing it right down to the deck chairs, we wanted it to be beautiful and comfortable. It makes us so happy to hear others feel at home there too and enjoy the area as much as we do. Come again if you can, it's amazing here in every season.

Superior Get Away

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at your comfortable townhouse was perfect for our weekend getaway. The kitchen was supplied nicely, beds were great, and the gas fireplace added just enough heat to take the chill off. The ambience of the fireplace, the view and sounds of the lake, and the comfort of the seating on the deck was perfect for our group. Thank you for sharing your home.

Wonderful Place

  • 5 of 5

The townhome is beautiful and nicely furnished. Well stocked kitchen great for those in our group who love to cook. Beautiful view of the lake and a good location for access to activities. Jo is a great host! Our only complaint was there was not enough hot water to fill the whirlpool (a nice ammenity after a day on the ski trails). Everything else was great and we highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay Ann. It is a great location, especially for park users, like us. We snowshoe in winter and hike the rest of the year so we use the whirlpool every night to relax after a day on the trails. It works great IF you use only hot water to fill it, we even have to add a little cold water before we get it in or it's too hot, there is a sign by the tub that gives that instruction. When you come back, try that and we're sure you'll be comfortable, there is even an in-line heater to keep the water hot while you're using it, we love it and wish we had one at the home we live in.
