Amazing! This is the best word to describe this unique apartment.
This 1 bedroom (600 sq feet) apartment is located rue Maurice Utrillo, right on the side of the Sacré-Coeur church and above its gardens. Maurice Utrillo was “the” painter of Montmartre. He painted most of the famous spots you will stroll around. The apartment is on the 6th floor (US standard) of a top quality stone and brick building, offering an elevator and a very pleasant balcony.
• The living room opens its 2 large bay windows over Paris and the sky. Impressive. On the balcony, the view is flying on the sky. Decoration is exquisite, branded furniture (Knoll, Ligne Roset …) and antic lights. There is also a convertible sofa bed for 2.
• The bedroom is calm and delicately decorated. Bed is queen size. It also has a view over Paris, in a different direction. Its wardrobe is large and convenient.
• The kitchen, fully equipped, is an original part of the apt. The red colour chosen for decoration gives a lot of energy to the small but convenient space.
• The bathroom is a real piece of art. A large shower tub, decorated with carved tiles is in perfect harmony with the sink and mirror.
• Last but not least, the balcony has a wonderful view over Paris. It is furnished with table and 2 chairs. You may have a glass of wine or a diner.
The “Sacré-Coeur” and its gardens are just out of the door. This location is a perfect base to visit Paris. It stays 15 minute by subway to most interesting Paris locations AND is a very charming and restful area to be appreciated after a whole day shopping and walking through museums.
For information, most of the painting in the living room was recently been redone and partly in bathroom and the whole building facade has been fully maintained and cleaned. It is a quality building.
Last point, we are staying few blocks away. We are here if you need help.

My daughter, grandsons (11 & 8) and I just returned from a wonderful week in Paris! The apartment is lovely, location perfect and view spectacular. At the bottom of the stairs are many great restaurants with outdoor dining. Each day after exploring Paris we returned for dinner in Montmarte. The apartment is close to the metro and many great places to grab breakfast before heading out. We hope to return to Paris and would stay here again.
Apartment Utrillo provided us with the perfect location to explore Montmartre. The view from the balcony was just as we imagined and provided us with spectacular views over Paris. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine before heading off to a local restaurant.
We found the apartment comfortable for lounging, the shower provided good hot water pressure and the bed was comfortable.
We wanted an apartment that would provide us with a Parisian experience and this certainly delivered.
An apartment with a great view and location; walking distance to Montmartre square, with his restaurants and entertainment, and to the Metro. It is a good size apartment, I have seen smaller apartments in NY City, with a pretty big shower. I discover two vegetarian restaurant in walking distance from the apartment.
From the Sacre Couer at night you get an extraordinary view of the Eiffel Tower, champs Elysees and Arc De Triomphe.
My only complain, would be the hand-off of the key for the apartment, a little too much work. Not a deal breaker, but eh
I would definitely rent Ultrillo apartment on my next trip.
Love the place!!! close to everything but still separated...
The apartment provides Cable TV and WiFi
Apartment Utrillo is in a great location, perfect for walking around Montmartre. Note that Rue Maurice Utrillo is actually a set of stairs, not a road so may make access difficult for those who are mobility challenged. However we managed with a 23 month old and his stroller with little problem. The views from the apartment are superb. The apartment itself is a little older than it appears in the photos, but is still quite nice. Lots of really good nearby places to eat or have a drink, however sitting on the balcony with a drink is the best location of all. The process to pick up keys is a little inconvenient – I’d recommend a taxi or dropping someone at the apartment with your luggage then walking to get the keys.
Hope that is useful, and thanks for the stay!
Here are my impressions:
I very much enjoyed my stay in this apartment in Montmartre. I travelled on my own, but the space would comfortably accommodate 2-4 guests. I enjoyed the location and found that a leisurely walk from the apt, down Rue des Martyrs then rue Montmartre to central Paris was quite a pleasurable way to start the morning. The metro or bus were easy alternatives, and in spite of being a woman alone in Paris I felt safe.
The view and living room space were my main reasons for selecting this apt., and did not disappoint. The bedroom is located toward the rear, so it was very quiet and I slept well. There are handy space heaters, which I also used as towel warmers, that served to keep the rooms cozy. I took advantage of the washing machine several times while there, and it was easy to use, which I loved because I usually only travel with a few outfits that I like to wash and re-wear. For those who watch TV, I was happy to find that there were 2 channels with movies (French), one of which played a Truffaut film the week I was there. Wonderful.
I always lunched in the centre, so can't comment on the area's restaurants, but I did find 2 wonderful spots for coffee/breakfast on Martyrs, 5 min walk from the apt. I did notice that the area's cafes/restaurants were lively and filled with a mix of locals and tourists.
The kitchen was functional, and slightly less cramped than it looks on the photos.
While there I had a couple of questions and one minor issue with the apt, all of which were answered/resolved with a quick phone call. JN was very attentive that way. Also, my deposit was returned within a week of my return home.
All in all I had a great stay and would go back again. I miss it already.
I meant to write a review earlier but didn't get around to it. I came back to look at the listing to relive some memories, saw the negative review, and I have to weigh in now!
I stayed in this apartment for three weeks, and had no complaints! Yes it's an older building and there are a few quirks, but that's absolutely part of the charm. It was completely comfortable and I had no problems at all with cleanliness or maintenance... And even if I HAD experienced problems like that, the balcony and the view would have more than made up for it! Sitting out there with a glass or two of wine, looking at the expanse of the city in front and people-watching on the steps below was an unforgettable experience that I feel very fortunate to have had!
The building is located about halfway up a staircase to the base of the Sacre Couer. The only reason I might not recommend to someone is if they had mobility issues / trouble with a few flights of stairs, but it's easy to avoid a lot of the stairs by taking the funicular right on the other side of the church. The area is amazing - not just the church and its gardens, which are spectacular, but many excellent restaurants and cafes and bars nearby. It's also a quick walk to several different Metro lines, so getting anywhere in the city is pretty painless. And if you're tired after a long day of exploring, you don't have to speak any French to say "Sacre Couer" to a taxi driver and be taken straight home!
I had a truly wonderful time in Paris, and being able to stay at this apartment made it that much better! Not sure when I'll be able to come back, but this place will be at the top of my list to stay at if it's available. I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed it, but I'll stop now and just say that the Utrillo apartment gets my absolute highest recommendation!
