2nd time stay; Great experience

  • 4 of 5

The house is within 10 mins walk of the beach, 10 mins drive of Kennebunkport and 20 from old orchard. It's well furnished and the owners are great. The house needs a bit of TLC but altogether is clean, functional and huge. I would and will definitely go back to this house.

Perfect for the parents of newly graduates!

  • 4 of 5

We were 3 couples and grand-parents there for our sons and grand-sons graduations. it was perfect to be able to have the families together. The house was well equipped and really felt like "home away" from home! The beach is at a walking distance by a little road with charming houses.

on a practical note: bring extra towels

This was a great space for a family of eight.

  • 4 of 5

This home near Fortunes Rock Beach was the ideal size for our family of 4 adults and 4 children. The babies particularly enjoyed crawling on the spacious kitchen floor. Bedrooms were warm and cozy. It was an ideal location for our Thanksgiving trip.

A few suggestions on improvements: Check-in was confusing with little communication. There were no written directions on using appliances; something I have always experienced with other vacation rentals. Carpeting and linens could use updating. Also, more linens specifically blankets and towels.

All in all we had a wonderful time for our short stay and would consider using this location in the future.

Our visit

  • 3 of 5

The location of this home is great and very central. The furniture in the living area was very comfortable. I would recommend that some hooks to hang towels etc.would be nice. The bathrooms need some window coverings. We enjoyed sitting on the porch every morning. Bob was very helpful and easy to deal with.

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

The location was perfect and as we pulled up to the house we were impressed. When we went inside the house had a horrible odor that took us a few days to dissipate. It was large and provided us with the room we needed but it felt more like an old frat cabin. The house was not clean, some lights didn't have light bulbs in them, shades were missing and we had to put together a twin bed we found in the closet on a broken frame. The dishes we had to wash before we ate and the water was so rusted that we used water bottles to brush our teeth. This house has so much potential, but clearly seemed like a quick cosmetic cover up to start renting. The gazebo we couldn't get to, the screen was completely ripped off on one side and contents were just piled in. We enjoyed our vacation touring maine but will not be returning to this property. Disappointed.

Owner's Response: The renters wanted to stay an additional day which was arranged. They sent an e-mail to say that they were leaving. They thanked me and said everything was fine. I have rented my home to over 100 families and this is the only complaint. We have a family that his rented (3) weeks for (12) years. My wife and I drive from Central MA (5) hours round trip to clean the home and meet the tenants. We spend (4) hours cleaning and over $50.00 in gas and tolls to ensure a clean home. There were tenants the week before for an outdoor wedding, who were extremely satisfied.
