The Mermaid House is located roughly 5 miles from George Town and 5 minutes by car from the airport. The House overlooks one of the most beautiful beaches in Great Exuma and has a gorgeous view of Exuma Sound and the surrounding islands.
The Main House has 2000 square feet of centrally air-conditioned living space with a 1000-square-foot wrap around deck that is partially covered, and with Scandinavian interior decor. It has three bedrooms, two and half bathrooms, and two out door showers. The house sleeps six people, it has king-sized beds in all three rooms, and towels and linens are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the latest appliances, there are laundry facilities available, and an entertainment center is provided for those of you that are getting too much sun and fresh air. The ANNEX has 600 sq.f. with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom also with washer/dryer. On top of this building there is a 780 sq.f. fabulous topdeck with a fantastic view.
So come relax, kick back, have a Bahama Mama, and enjoy a stay in Paradise!

From the outset, renting Mermaid House was a delightful transaction. Communication with the owners and the housekeeper was clear, enjoyable, and extremely helpful. The house is very generously equipped (high kudos for the kitchen) and furnished, going above and beyond what their website may include. For example: original art, telescope, current DVD's, intriguing books, floaties that stay inflated, enough plates, glasses, and silverware to entertain half the island. The property is very clean and well maintained. The floor plan affords a lot of privacy between bedrooms, with all of them opening onto a gorgeous wrap-around deck. There is ample seating for lounging, dining and sunning. (I'm always perplexed by rentals that offer more bed space than chairs! Not this one!) I noticed a crib and a toddler bed in the house. The view is gorgeous and the beach is great for swimming and walking (particularly at low tide). Within 15-20 minutes of the house is another beach (Cocoplum) with lazy wave action and depths allowing one to wade, seemingly, for miles. Renting a boat and visiting nearby cays is highly recommended and easy for even novice boaters. Food selection is a bit limited on the island, so you may want to bring some favorite items from home. Restaurant menu offerings are similar to one another and somewhat limited--a concession to make for a beautiful, unspoiled, moderately developed local. (We tried to eat at locally-owned establishments so this comment reflects no experience with the restaurant offerings at the Four Seasons.) The owners and housekeeper are determined to assist in making your stay delightful, and the people of Exuma are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. At your request, a bottle of rum will be waiting on the counter and a package of lobster tails in the refrigerator. We hope to visit again!
I recently stayed at the Mermaid House with a large group of family members. The house is amazing and well cared for by Janice. It had more than enough supplies and great views. My family had a wonderful time in paradise and we can’t wait to return to the Mermaid House.
Thank you Anders & Anne for sharing your peace of paradise with my family.
Our multi generation family has recently returned from holidaying in beautiful Exuma. We have rented world wide and staying at Mermaid House was one of our best experiences. The pictures do not do it justice..The house is situated on the best part of Tar Bay. Fabulous white sand with not a stone to be found on the ocean floor. Gorgeous sunrises from the deck (or your bed if you have one of the two front bedrooms. )Kitchen has enough cutlery/dishes/glasses for the entire island. There is Apple Tv, DVD's and Wii to play. (our 5 yr old grandson had to bowl every night before dinner!). The Annex is newer and is clean and bright (altho no ocean views). The top deck provides gorgeous views (at this time of yr best at sunset as too hot during the day!). The teak outside furniture is plentiful on the deck and there are loungers and beach chairs for the beach. Tons of beach toys for kids (as well kiddie bed/high chairs/pottie if needed). A highlight for our family was the outdoor shower. Never used the indoor! Jeniece is there to help with any needs and local stores have more than enough supplies. We enjoyed Prime Island Meats which is 4 mins down the road and will take Credit card with no surcharge.
But it is the water...that glorious blue water and the miles of beach to walk which is the main draw. Go to Exuma and enjoy Mermaid House. You won't be disappointed
We stayed at the Mermaid House for two weeks. We couldn't have had a more beautiful place to stay. There were 9 adults and 3 children. Jeneice was fantastic. Everything we expected and more. I would recommend it in a heartbeat.
We stayed at the Mermaid House this past April. The house is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. We could not believe the attention to detail. It is obvious that the owners have put great thought into all of the amenities (and believe me, there are MANY) that would make for a wonderful stay. They were also very friendly and made the rental process easy.
The house really is on the perfect part of Tar Bay!! The beach is fantastic and has powdery sand. The color of the water was almost shocking every time I turned around and looked out through the many sliders.
We loved the Mermaid House and can't wait until we are able to return. It really is a little piece of heaven here on earth!
My wife and I were looking for a quite place to spend our 20th wedding anniversary, we have been all over the Caribbean, Mexico and Belize so we were not sure where to go until I came upon the Mermaid House located on Exuma. As I sure you will agree the house and island is great, we enjoyed the daily happy hour at the house as well as many of the fine places to eat and hang out (Augusta Bay, Chat and Chill and Catch a Fire). we also had a few good offsite activities as well we enjoyed diving the blue hole with Dive Exuma, we also had a full day with Captain Greg, got to feed the iguanas, see the swimming pigs and walk along and explore several bueatful beaches and Sand bars. I highly recommend having Jeniece whip up dinner one night we had her do it for us Lobster, Rice Bean, Slaw Salad and Mahi Mahi all were outstanding, she is also a handy crafts person as well, we were able to do bit of shopping here in the house for the folks back home.
Absolute privacy peace and quite, great people, great weather.
All in all a great trip, the owners were a pleasure to deal with as well.we plan to return.
