Just like the pictures. Great place and had everything we needed. Plenty of space. Would go back
Perfect in every way!
Dan was highly responsive and accommodating and Ernesto who manages the house was available and kind when needed. The place has a stunning view and perfect location. We were two families vacationing together and could not have been more delighted with the location, food options, beach, pools and playground. A real find for a relaxing family getaway without the all inclusive feel but all of the convenience.
A must visit!
Amazing panoramic views! Balcony is huge. The location of the condo is amazing. It is steps from an amazing infinity pool and close to the main street. Security is great. Juan Dolio is very safe, walkable, has plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, bars, etc. 5 stars all around!
Very nice place to stay & very spacious. View from balcony & master bedroom was awesome & breathtaking! Manager Ernesto was the best, he was so very helpful & kind!
It was such a gorgeous condo. We absolutely fell in love with the views. The customer service was wonderful. Hope to visit again.
Beautiful property with a breathtaking view
The pictures don't do this property justice. It's a beautiful unit with stunnning ocean views. We enjoyed our stay and were well cared for by our caretaker, Ernesto. For the most part, only minor issues with the unit. The remote was broken for the electronic window shade panels but Ernesto replaced it the day after we reported it. This is fairly significant as the panels block out the sun, which rises at about 5:30 a.m. He also replaced the batteries in our front door lock which died during the day. The only other item we reported was the faulty installation of a fairly new dishwasher. It was unfortunately installed without brackets attaching it to anything, which means whenever we opened its door, it would tip forward with pretty good force. We don't have small children, but I'd think it'd be quite a hazard if it tipped onto a small child. Hopefully, it will get fixed. The beach was beautiful and had security presence from early morning to late night, and it was well kept. The water was clear with a sandy bottom. The pool bar/restaurant had fabulous staff but plan to have a leisurely meal as service is quite slow. Food is so-so. My "grilled veggie pizza" was topped with peas and corn, oddly. The fitness center is a bit tiny, but you can always run/walk the beach for a little exercise if needed. We went on a ziplining tour, which was about the best ziplining experience we've ever had in the Caribbean. We also went on a snorkeling tour to Catalina Island. The island is beautiful, but if you're really into snorkeling, pass on it. The snorkeling was pretty disappointing. Dined at El Meson and El Sueno, both were excellent. There is a stop-n-shop nearby that's like a small convenience store, but it also has an ice cream shop, which is nice. Pekaro Bakery is just across the street and a must-visit stop. They make wonderful chocolate scones. We were greeted by warm, friendly and welcoming Dominican residents throughout our stay. Definitely made us feel welcomed.
Juan Dolio has glorious world class beaches with white sand which stretch for 2 1/2 miles. Juan Dolio's proximity to everything, and centrally located between Santo Domingo and la Romana, making this seaside village the ideal Caribbean destination—the next 'South Beach'—with an abundance of restaurants that offer international cuisines and condominiums that demonstrate style and first-class amenities fit for the international tourist.
Las Americas Airport is a mere 20 minutes from Juan Dolio. If you are staying for at least a week, you may want to buy a Dominican cell phone at Jumbo. It’s a mere $20 for a basic one, plus minutes. It can save you a significant amount of money if you'll be making local calls from your condo/hotel/resort.
Santo Domingo is positioned just 45 minutes west of Juan Dolio. Independencia separates the old city from modern Santo Domingo, a sprawling, noisy city with a population of close to 2 million. The 12 cobblestone blocks of Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial contain most of the major sights in town. It's one of the most appealing historic districts in the Caribbean and is best explored on foot. The Zone ends at the seafront, called the Malecón.
Spanish civilization in the New World began in Santo Domingo's 12-block Zona Colonial. As you stroll its narrow streets, it's easy to imagine this old city as it was when the likes of Columbus, Cortés, and Ponce de León walked the cobblestones, pirates sailed in and out, and colonists started settling.
Tourist brochures claim that 'history comes alive here'—a surprisingly truthful statement. Almost every Thursday to Sunday night at 8:30 a typical 'folkloric show' is staged at Parque Colón and Plaza de España. During the Christmas holidays there is an artisans' fair and live-music concerts take place. A fun horse-and-carriage ride throughout the Zona costs $25 for an hour, with any commentary in Spanish. The steeds are no thoroughbreds, but they clip right along. You can also negotiate to use them as a taxi, say, to go down to the Malecón. The drivers usually hang out in front of the Hostal Nicolas de Ovando.
You can get a free walking-tour map and brochures in English at the Secretaria de Estado de Turismo office at Parque Colón (Columbus Park), where you may be approached by freelance, English-speaking guides who will want to make it all come alive for you. They'll work enthusiastically for $25 an hour for four people.
