2/10 Terrible

Shocking.
Be aware that the house is very different to the photographs displayed on this website. It has a different, much smaller sofa and old, dated decor. Our family of 5 adults were not all able to be seated. The misleading description misrepresents the home, so much so that the manager, Diana agreed at check-in and promised to liaise with the owner to discuss a possible partial refund. This did not happen.
We rented the house and boat together - our main reason for staying in Cape Coral is to get out onto the water, however the boat was old, dirty and in very poor condition. It broke down on the first day, immediately after our short instruction trip and was not repairable. Incredibly, when this became apparent to the manager, she did not care at all and had no compassion whatsoever for our situation. She did not attempt to replace the broken boat.
To add to our frustration the house telephone line was down for the first 5 days of our stay which meant we were unable to freely and easily call local boat rental companies for a replacement. We only had a European mobile telephone which we ran up a large bill on whilst attempting to get help, but being only days from Christmas there were no boats available anywhere. After many angry phone calls and emails to the manager who was totally unsympathetic, we were eventually refunded the cost of the boat rental and did not have one for the whole time. We tried to make the best of a very bad situation but it was not the same at all without the boat that we had looked forward to so much and our stay at Cape Coral was ruined.
We did not use the pool heat, hot tub or air conditioning, yet at check-out the manager had the audacity to try to charge 'substantially' more than our electricity allowance for the rental. Needless to say, we refused to pay this and interestingly, it was not contested. However, in addition, at check-out we were advised of a small outstanding amount which was supposedly from the currency conversion when we transferred the balance payment from our European bank some two months earlier. Surely, any discrepancy in payment should be addressed at the time of transaction?! We were forced to pay this in order to have our security deposit returned!
This was supposed to be a very special holiday, but instead we found ourselves stressed and frustrated about the situation, disbelieving, angry, disgusted and generally let down at the treatment we received from such poor management.
