DESCRIPTION: The home is actually a triplex with two of the units being 2BR/1BA and one unit is a 3BR/2BA. (Rates quoted are for the 2BR/1BA units.) The 2BRs run side by side, shotgun style, on what is actually the second level of the home (the first level is a "wash-out" storage level). The 3BR unit is the entire third floor of the tri-plex. Each of the units have a small porch, their own exterior entrance, and there is parking for at least two cars each. Photos shown are of Unit B. It's not a fancy place, but a charming throwback to a simpler time - just perfect for a relaxing beach getaway.
Enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean and easy beach access directly across the street. Only one-half mile to Main Beach, and very convenient to historic downtown. Fort Clinch State Park is also nearby and offers hiking, tours and bike trails. Great price for an amazing location!
We may allow small pets under 30 pounds with a $50 non-refundable pet fee. Pets must be approved by owner.

Note: This review is based on the 3 bedroom, top floor apartment. Both 2 bedroom apartments were rented, but the owner had this larger one available.
We spent the month of February, 2015 there and loved it. To us it feels like an old-fashioned New England beach house, comfortable and relaxed, a piece out of the past. It’s across the street from the sand dune leading to the beach and the view of the waves out of the front windows is something we never tired of. In both directions the beach stretches for miles and we’ve spent hours walking along the sands. In summer we’d probably have been swimming at least twice a day.
The house itself will either appeal to you, or it won’t. It was originally built in the 1930’s, has been added to at least twice, front and back, has been moved back from the beach to lessen its vulnerability to hurricanes, and now is split into three rental apartments. It was built in an era when houses had fewer bathrooms than nowadays, and none of them is attached to a bedroom. The floor is the original wood, a little beat up after all the years, and, in true beach house style, the furniture is an eclectic mixture of older and newer. Our bed was comfortable. We enjoy cooking and we really appreciated having a well-equipped, functional and reasonably modern kitchen with plenty of cooking gear and dishes. The washer and dryer were another blessing. When the house was put in its present location, the native vegetation to the rear was left to grow. We liked having the natural backdrop rather than a view of the neighbors’ rooftops, and somehow it made climbing 26 steps not seem like a problem.
The location was great. It’s across the street from one of the loveliest beaches in North America, it’s within convenient bicycling distance of the Greenway, Fort Clinch State Park, downtown, public swimming pools, and the fitness center at the Y.
The third floor apartment is big – much bigger than we needed as a retired couple. We found ourselves thinking how well it would work as a summer place for our children and grandchildren, and what fun they would have there.
So that’s what it is – a piece of “Old Florida”, a journey back to a simpler world. We loved it, and we’d love to bring our family here – but if you want granite counter tops, wall to wall carpeting, matched sets of furniture and 70 inch TV’s, it’s probably not the place for you.
Location of house was ideal for travel back and forth to Downtown. Really enjoyed the beach at crossover 5 - just across the street. Downtown Fernandina can't be beat and the dining choices are wonderful! Missy was wonderful to work with.
MY WIFE AND OUR 3 KIDS THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR STAY. THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT AND WE WERE MORE THAN DELIGHTED WITH THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS. THE OWNERS WERE WELCOMING AND PROFESSIONAL AND WE COULDN'T ASK FOR MORE!
Directly across the street from beach access. That's what I cared most about. Price appropriate for the place. Rented through a realtor's office. The realtors and owner (all family, I believe) couldn't be nicer. Simple, easy transaction and a restful, simple, vacation. Just what my family needed. It was nice to be able to bring our 35-pound dog for our two-week stay. We didn't bring her to the beach much, but it's fine to. Can walk the dog a few places right near the house - just clean up, of course. Highly recommend these restaurants: Le Clos (quaint French), Espana (tapas - shrimp with pirri pirri sauce exceptional; grilled calamari was fantastic one night, rubbery next), 29 South (breakfast, lunch and brunch -- fried green tomatoes, pulled pork spring rolls, mac and cheese with lobster, shrimp and grits) and Peppers (cheap Mexican and margaritas). Barbara Jean's was just alright. Crab Trap was pretty awful. If you're really into cooking, you'll want to bring some of your less common tools with you. The kitchen is stocked with very basic stuff (but fine for vacation). Buy bottled water. Fernandina Beach water is funky. Thanks for a low key, easy, relaxing vacation!
Our stay in your little fernandina beach property was just perfect.
It was just what we wanted. We loved that the view from the bedroom was the ocean every morning.
We loved that all we had to do to relax on the beach was grab a chair and cross the street. We loved that after a day on the beach we could relax on the little porch chairs and take in the sunset. We loved dealing with everyone one in your offices including "bingo" and "saddlebags". We loved how down-to-earth and familiar you were with us.
We just had the best, most relaxing vacation.
Thank you all so very much.!
